So in defense of Audra as to all the "sounds robotic" or "too auto-tuned" comments - yeah, they put a ton of production on her vocals, but there are some pretty good reasons as to why they might have wanted to do that. For one, She's a female vocalist singing a male's song in the original key. A large portion of this song is in the way low end of her vocal register. When you're singing that low, it's extremely hard to maintain control and good pitch, especially when you're trying to push out some volume, and this is a rock cover, so naturally, she would be. Secondly, the band tends to go for polished, glossy feeling recordings, and in that context it makes sense to put a lot of production on a vocal performance. These guys do make conscientious decisions with their music and there's a whole lot of pretty well liked video's to suggest they know what they're doing.
Zachary Drake the robotic thing honestly isn’t a production thing. It’s her delivery. She sounds bored. Yes, there’s some heavy handed tuning, but that doesn’t take make a delivery more or less expressive.
Auto tuned or not its not a matter to me.i cant distinguish between them anyway. One thing for sure is THIS COVER IS SO DAMN COOL. Plus,i dont think auto tune can make a terrible singer to sing perfect?
@@sengmunpan7044 Autotune can make a terrible singer sound artifical but on tune. Nothing more. In this case i think it has to do with the Sound they want to achieve. It's not like she cant sing that. She surely can. Many of the ppl who dont like the production on the vocals have that: Rock music has to be completly unproduced! -mindset. The thing is tho First to Eleven is neither a full cover band nor a hard rock band or something. They cover pop songs and their own songs mostly have a classic pop-song pattern. Which is common in many pop-rock bands and not at all a bad thing. So the Vocal mix is just a way to achieve their wanted Sound which is really polished and clean.. might even say steril. Like Zachary Drake pointed out. In the end thats personal liking. For me it sounds a bit to clean and that makes it a little bit repetitiv (which is the sound ppl mean when they say she sounds bored) They recently released a Song on Cover Nation that got produced by a known producer and that sounds a bit more natural. Everybody who thinks she cant sing those songs should listen to that cause she proves it there really damn good that she can. In General i agree with you i really like this cover overall. Hope that helps to clear things up a bit :)

A lot of the robotic tone is UA-cam compression. Listen to the track on any other service that has high quality streaming, sounds much better. I think she sounds great.

I just found you guys through your collab with KHS, and I'm loving you guys! I am sick of all these comments telling you to turn down the "autotune" when they have no idea what they are talking about. Everyone uses autotune, and honestly people get upset when autotune isn't used. What people are most likely referring to is the overprocessing on a lot of parts of the song. I agree that a lot of the extra effects that are layered on top of the classic ones can be overbearing at times and people respond with things like "robot" "siri" and "autotuned".

Dont be afraid to push your voice and have it not be perfect Audra. Sometimes the most beautiful performances are the way they are because they arent perfect. People want authenticity more than perfection and pushing your voice to its limits and figuring out exactly what that beautiful badass thing can do will make you even better than you are now. As many people have pointed out (rightfully so), it does sound slightly robotic. HOWEVER, it suits the song. I'll explain my train of thought:
1. Female vocalist singing a male pop-rock singers' lines.
2. Low register. Literally. He sings in a baritone. Audra is a soprano(?).
3. Rock cover of a pop song. The genres require two completely different methods of singing.
All in all, it works well. I like it, and it works.
