Thank you so much! It is really helpful to watch this kind of videos to know what to do when a dog gets in the clinic. Please keep uploading!
The thing that alerted us to lymphoma in our last Golden was a seizure. Scariest thing I’ve ever seen. He flew backwards down a hallway, it was like something from The Exorcist. I pet my dog ALL the time and love them more than life itself .. I didn’t notice a single lymph node.
Our (late) Lab had seizures for a few years, often lasting up to 14 minutes. We witnessed maybe 6-8 of them and it was traumatic. However, thankfully they disappeared on their own. Recently read the shampoo we had used for her was dangerous, maybe that was it. Hard to know. I appreciate the commentary and your calm expertise. I've definitely learned more than i had known.

Just started binging your channel. Have you ever watched dog-centered movies with your vet-mindset? Something like 'The Plaque Dogs', 'Marley & Me', the Air-Bud movies, 'Hachiko', etc?
I'm here because of your brother, on top of the fact that my sweet dog just came from the vet because he seem to have the catching flies syndrome.. I am so scared because he hit his head.
Wow scary seeing full blown Gran Mal seizures... Can you do a video about non typical signs of seizures or focal seizures? My Shiba Inu has been exhibiting fly biting behavior every couple of days, stares blankly at nothing it seems proceeding to do couple snaps in the air at nothing. I've been reading it up and our primary vet seems to agree that he could possibly be focal seizures. Physical exam, Blood work and urinalysis were normal. Would you recommend a neurologist referral (I probably don't live close to one) before trying an antiseizure med trial to see if the fly biting behavior stops? Looking forward to seeing more content!
yeah i think either a neurologist, internist, or behaviorist would be best people to talk to. fly biting can be behavioral or seizure in origin so the medication used to treat it would depend on the cause.
Your Brother sent me here. Oh my those poor dogs. Do u do EEGs on dogs? Don't they have to go on meds? How did u decide to be a annimal neurologist? It will interesting following your videos. Thank u
EEG is not readily available everywhere like it is with human neurology. As far as I know its at academic institutions and very few private practices. I don't use it in my practice but would like to one day if I can get my hands on one and get some practice with it.
We suspect my previous dog of having mild seizures every so often. We adopted him from a shelter and had no background on him, not even a correct age. It turned out he was older and had a spinal issue that, years later towards the end we had to get him on pain and inflammation meds.
My 9 year old cattle dog has recently started to have seizures. They are non convulsive seizures Very distressing for her Taking her to the vet ASAP to see if anything can be done
Here from your Brother's channel. Have yiu ever seen a Tonic Clonic/Grand Mal in Avians? I have two cockatiels who have what myself and my Avian vet thinks are seizures. They flip their heads side to side and shake throughout the body. Than half a minute or so where they are very out of it. Usually an exiciting event like coming out of the cage, nail trims etc does this. These birds were cage bound for 9+ years, so coming out etc is not the norm for them and they seem to get too excited.
I haven't personally just because I don't work with birds with any real frequency. But epilepsy in birds is a known and described condition for sure. Maybe talk to your vet about medications for seizures to see if it helps and if its right for them to try.
