- Wild Eagle opened in 2012 as America's first Bolliger & Mabillard wing coaster. This coaster is perched atop a hill in the center of the park and it looks great with its big inversions and bright blue track. But the ride has a very strange layout for a B&M wing coaster. It feels more reminiscent of a floorless coaster!

This was my first B&M Wing! I was a really fun ride. I actually got floater airtime off of a few of the hills!
The drop is great.
Fantastic coaster. The setting really makes a huge difference, its brilliantly positioned and integrated into the landscape. Along with the trains, its very memorable because it fits with the theming. Like Wildfire at SDC, its not a super-intense B&M, but that's why I like it. The elements feel stretched out, floaty and fun, and that fits perfectly with the theme of a soaring eagle.
And it definitely wins over the crowds.
When I rode Wild Eagle this past October, it was easily my 2nd favorite in the park. Also, Thunderhead and Wild Eagle were both walk-ons even though the park was packed. That was because everyone was in line for Firechaser Express and Mystery Mine, both had over an hour wait. I can not wait to ride the other B&M Wing Coasters, I just love the feeling of flying through the air.
This is one of the easier coasters in the park to marathon between its line and reridability.
Wild eagle is my favorite ride there. Fire chaser, is my second LOL

Wild Eagle usually doesn't have a long wait due to it being a big thrill coaster and much of Dollywood's other roller coasters are aimed at families
I love everything about this coaster except the vest restraints that keep cinching down during the ride making breathing a problem, especially for taller folks like me. Glad that's improved. It's not supposed to be intense but floaty and graceful. The setting is really cool and the entry area is really great. It is a great contrast to Lightning Rod which serves as the psychotic adrenaline machine for the park.
I'm glad they fixed the restraints.
I know a lot of coaster enthusiasts call this ride Mild Eagle but I love it. The first drop is very fun anywhere on the train. The scenery is beautiful. I wish there was a near-miss structure to fly through but the native vegetation looks great too. The best part for me is I can get off the ride and jump right back in line and ride it again. I love all coasters but I am getting older and my neck does not handle the rough ones as well as it used to. (I grew up riding the Texas Cyclone and that was a rough one.) The ride is so smooth it feels like you are flying. Don't get me wrong I also enjoy Lightning Rod, Thunderhead, and Tennessee Tornado, but I need a break after those rides. But I could ride Wild Eagle all day. The efficiency of the ride also makes re-rides fun because the wait is short.
I think it gets too much hate. The layout is weird for the genre, but it is fun.

This is minor but there's one thing this ride is missing. You know how Banshee at Kings Island makes a screaming noise when it reaches the top of the lift hill? Well it would be cool if they had an audio device that made the sound of an eagle once the ride reaches the top of the lift hill.
That would be cool, but I'm sure the nearby cabins would take issue with that.
Those straight drops on B&M Wing Coasters are sooo good.

This was my third B&M Wing. It makes sense it's the first in America as it has a shorter layout and no wing over drop. It is fun, the drop is by far the best cause it actually gave a little floater in the back which is crazy considering it has insanely tight vest restrictions and it literally a wing coaster. Unfortunately the rest of the ride does nothing fir me, very smooth drawn out inversions, not forceful at all, but its not meant to be intense cause a wing coaster is a GP attractor. Still a unique layout fir what it is.
Thankfully the restraints have been fixed.
There's this really popular family channel called Tic Tac Toy, I don't know if you've heard of them, but they went to Dollywood at one point while they were still living in Tennessee. After the kids first faced their fears on Firechaser Express, and loved it, they then went on to conquer most of the coasters in the park (except Lightning Rod which was of course down).
Wild Eagle ended up being Maya's & Addy's (age 8 & 10 respectively at the time, I think) favorite ride, while Dragonflier was Colin's (6) favorite.
Haven't heard of them. That's unfortunate but not surprising that Lightning Rod was broken.

If you're on the right side of the train, the first half of the figure-8 finale gives a great view looking down to the Christmas tree at that time of year. That's the main reason I prefer the right side. My first day in 2019, snow kept Thunderhead & Lightning Rod closed, so I did a 16-ride marathon on Wild Eagle, most at night, and I loved every single ride. While I prefer Gatekeeper & Thunderbird, Wild Eagle is still so much fun, and it's my 3rd favorite in the park. I have no problem with the restraints, as I love vest restraints, and even though the layout could've been better, I still enjoy it.
I usually don't mind vest restraints, but the first generation ones did come down painfully on my collarbone. The second generation ones with slack are perfectly comfortable.

I'm excited to ride this as my first B&M wing.
It's a fun ride.
In the US, I recently finished all the wing coasters and I find this to be the second best B&M wing. The setting, hangtime, and first drop make it for me
1. Thunderbird
2. Wild Eagle
3. GateKeeper
4. X-flight
This one rides so much differently.
1. Thunderbird
2. X-Flight (but I need more rides)
3. Wild Eagle (mostly due to its first drop)
4. Gatekeeper
But I don't think the gap is that big, it's to me it's Thunderbird and everything else

I liked this coaster a lot but call me weird, but loved FireChaser Express and Tennessee Tornado even more.
Firechaser over this is a hot take.

It's no Rudy's Rapid Transit, my friend, but it still looks pretty good.. I'm gonna work in Nashville for a few weeks in May, and I will take a drive out to Dollywood for a day. Can't wait to see that park. CANOBIE.....MY MAN!!

Rode Thunderbird for the first time a few hours ago. Disappointed because it was rough and a bit jerky. I’ll take the graceful and smooth Wild Eagle any day over the bird. I think it’s also a more beautiful coaster to watch in action.
I prefer Thunderbird myself.

Rode for the first time last summer. It’s okay. I would say it’s 4th or 5th behind LR, MM, Thunderhead and Tenn Tor

My first B&M, don’t remember much besides the uncomfortable restraints and actually somewhat greying out on the Immelmann.
The restraints are much better now.
Out of the 4 B&M wing coasters I’ve ridden, this is my least favorite. The scenery is solid for the ride though.

This was going to be my 2nd wing after thunderbird, but it was closed the 2 days I was there! Still mad about that.
That's surprising since it's usually reliable. Was it weather related?
@@CanobieCoaster No, It was during the summer of last year, I think it was something to do with the lift, but I dont know.

With all due respect... I'm not sure where you get that Wild eagle is "accomodating to larger guests"... I went last year at 250 pounds, and couldn't fit, because of the vest restraint.
It seems more accomodating than the standard B&M over-the-shoulder restraints. I had someone in my party a few years ago who couldn't fit on the Busch Tampa B&Ms, but they fit on Wild Eagle.

How I order these 4 rides depends on the day. I enjoy all 4.
Blah, very bog standard coaster. Ill take LROD, Thunderhead, Tennessee Tornado, or even Mystery Mine over it. Granted this is coming from someone who finds most B&Ms to be nothing special however when they get it right man do they get it right (Fury 325)
