Ren has entered my radar screen as a 64-year-old musician, and has also entered my favorite band and artist list, along with The Big Push. Black Sabbath is on that list, and War Pigs is one of my favorite songs, so hearing this for the first time a few weeks ago just blew me away. Subbed! Their versions of Paint It Black and I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip-Hop are also great. And if you want to see Ren singing and playing killer bass, watch the Big Push's version of Wade in the Water/Trouble So Hard. Great reaction!
Nice one guys! Also try "I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip hop" - there are two versions, see the one performed on the same day as War Pigs (Ren has red suspenders). If you want to hear Ren sing, then listen to him busking with Sam, doing Earned it/Mans World/Falling. Ren comes in on the second song - both their voices will blow you away. 🤘🏻
They do some awesome mash-ups and do songs justice. Pretty sure Ren can sing anything 😁👍 so many genres he said have influenced him musically. They do a Roadhouse Blues and Ren and Romain Axisa 🔥🔥🔥 Great reaction guys 🙏🙏
You need do the Jenny and Screetch Tales (Full version) it’s around 13 mins long but it’s 3 songs/tales in 1… it showcases Ren’s genius storytelling abilities and creative guitar skills! It’s another live one take (times 3) performance like the Hi Ren song… you won’t be disappointed 🤟
"...what's he trying to say to Tom Morello- you owe Black Sabbath a sandwich?" Legit cracked me up laughing, ya dry funny bugger! Instant L&S right there. Seriously though, probably owes 'em more like a steak dinner with a whole lobster on the side. I'd really love to see you guys experience 'The Hunger'- it sure ain't metal, but it lays down some heavy on the way to giving a demo of Ren flexing his lyric construction, delivery, production skills- maybe one of his less political/cerebral tracks but it (along with Losing It and What You Want etc) seriously get my body moving of its own accord. It's not like I thought my dancing days were over, I just never thought I could or even wanted to... I'm a 55yo classically trained violinist, and 41 years working in the music industry can make me pretty damn cynical, always listening for flaws in the craft, ready to call out BS, but the music/art of this guy has (and I don't say this lightly, it seriously has) changed my life. So many times, and I can even see what he's doing, and how, and all the 'flaws', but his range of styles and the level of art, craft, honesty, intelligence, humour, hard work, heart and just the pure musicality of his work have humbled and deeply inspired me. I really hope you guys explore more of Ren, I'd love to see both of your reactions to, and thoughts on more of his remarkable body of work so far- he's only in his early 30s and for maybe 10 years of that he was brutally unwell, so I'm excited and nervous to see where he goes in the future - but if he takes up the violin I may have to burn mine! ;-)
Love Ren! Same set,he does a great mux of I Shot the Sheriff/ Road to Zion/Hip Hop. Be sure ti get tbe red suspenders again. It's the BEST! LOVED YOUR JOY!
Nice reaction! The Big Push do a couple of other great medleys/mashups; I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop and Wade in the Water/Nina Simone/Trouble so Hard - Both very different, both paying homage to the original music while putting their own twist on it, just like this Black Sabbath/Rage at the Machine mashup.
The Big Push is a phenomenal band because they are ALL possess great musicianship. Check out Sympathy For The Devil with Gorman on lead vocals and guitar and Ren on bass. Fucking love Ren and TBP!!

+1 for me in every regard, only changing "64-year-old musician" to "55-year-old musician"

WAR PIGS - One of the greatest and most epic songs ever made - sadly still relevant ( Kind of a hymn for Ukraine and humanity )

He's a rare talent. He faced his demins head-on and took notes. That's something you don't find often. We will keep an eye on him for sure.
