      NO! That will cause all kinds of problems. You need a transfer panel if you want this to power your whole home. Best to get an electrician install one correctly.

    Believe it out not. I bought one at Costco couple years ago which had been $999. It went on sale for $899 and i bought it. Then after i bought it and briefly for believe it or not $699. Costco refunded me the $200 difference. I was grateful for such a happenstance. It's worth the $999 or more. Great generator. Thanks for the video. Not everyone knows these things including me.

      @@Shahyee I am new to them as well. I'm using it for a catch-all. I will keep it at my house incase the power goes out and I need it to power 2 freezers and a fridge (it could probably power my entire house). Or if I take it off-grid camping, I have a 32' travel trailer that I could power with it. It's more or less a bug out option, but damn it's heavy @ 230 lbs. Portable is a bit of a loose term without truck ramps.

    I read people complain about the loud noise this unit makes. My main concern more than the noise is dirty power it apparently provides. At 11%-14% THD, I'm concerned electronics will get damaged. Anyone have comments/opinions on this point?

    • @nllandry

    So the LP bypasses the gasoline/carberator system for all TriFuel systems? Do you just turn the gasoline fuel tank line to off....do not worry what setting the carbetator is on and simply plug in the LP /NG and start? Is the rpm the same going back and forth on fuels or is the system calibrated by manufacturer?

      @@jonsgarage3859 lol maybe just a bit. I've got a 40 pound that got its last refill. Btw gotta mention i own this exact same beastly generator and propane is an excellent fuel because it doesn't go bad in a tank and burns way cleaner than gas and won't gum up your carb. I picked up a couple of 100 pound tanks from Costco 139 bucks, I plan on running gas too, but to have back up fuel is a smart prep for the crazy days we're living in. I'd also pick up a couple extra spark plugs and a 5 gallon jug of oil for maintenance. Walmart's got good prices on it. I use 5- 30 full synthetic. 10-30 if I was going with conventional. Also with the shipping crises oil filters are getting harder to get. I'd stock up for your vehicles as well.

    What would you say is the difference between both versions? 71 vs 73?

    • @jonsgarage3859
      @jonsgarage3859  2 роки тому +5

      The main difference is that the 73 model has a built in feature they call: CO Alert technology, which is basically a Carbon Monoxide (CO) detector that would shut down the generator automatically when harmful levels of
      CO are detected. An example: If the 73 was powered on in an area with insuficient ventilation, such as a shed or enclosure,
      and the exhaust wasn't routed out, the unit would detect rising levels of CO in it's surrounding air and auto-shutdown to prevent a threat to life.
      Which is probably why the 73 has the ETL stamp of certification and the 71 doesn't.
      An other nice feature of the of the 73 is they have added weatherproof covers to the switches and breakers to prevent water damage when the unit is left outside, this definitly a nice improvement as the 71 has issue with corrosion in the switches preventing the unit from turning on. I will make a video on this soon as my own unit was affected by this.
      Other than that, the color has changed from Blue to Black, I couldn't say if there were changes to the internals of the engine but I do know the displacement remain 439cc.

      @@jonsgarage3859 Thanks for the info. i went ahead and grabbed one earlier today for 876 out the door at costco. i just hope it doesnt go off on me while i have it outside. if so i will see if i can put tape on the back of the co sensor where it has holes to read the co. i wonder if that would work if it ends up turning off on me while being on outside. i would never put it inside of a garage or anything that is enclosed. Some ppl are careless though so it is a nice feature to have added.

      @@snake0911 The 1/2" hose I bought had the 3/8" Female x 1/2" Male brass adapter to connect to the generator. It was too long (deep) on the female end and I had to sand it down so the flange in the adapter would seal against the LP gas fitting on the generator. The other end is a 1/2" male quick disconnect fitting which easily connects to the female fitting attached at the gas valve.
