    Just so the prostreets don't goto waste I usually put the stock rear end I cut off onto the chassis for that Nova or Chevelle and build a street machine out of them, or stock. It adds to the builds and you can even sell your finished work for recouping a few dollars towards your next build. Great for paint practice on the bodies as well.

    The 66 nova chassis fits perfect under the 65 chevelle

    Question...when you mated the two chassis together, did you use styrene or a special type of glue to strengthen the parts together? You didn't elaborate on how that process went once you cut the 66 Nova's chassis...I'm going to use it with the 68 Hemi Dart model. I would really like some help on this.

    Nice! Loving the tips, keep them coming.
    I'm cheap, I use 20 ounce bottle tops cut in half and added to the original chassis, cause I'm cheap. Ha ha. It works pretty well.

  • @EnviXR81
    @EnviXR81 12 років тому

    What we have here is failure to styrenicate... LOL Classic DC. Classic. I do have a question. Do you strengthen the chassis at all? I was wondering about drilling a 0.080 hole and pushing some 0.080 brass rod down the guts of the join. Thoughts?

  • @matthewcaruk4599
    @matthewcaruk4599 9 років тому

    Thanks for this Doctor. Always wondered how it works.
    2 questions:
    How do you know what tub will work with what frame when planning?
    And
    I know you use the epoxy to glue pieces. Do you use it to marry frame parts as well? Or something stronger (gorilla glue maybe). I've tried this before and the frame always breaks with the Testors orange tube glue and even tried the purple CA but the frame comes apart at the join.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    • @DoctorCrankysLabRATory
      @DoctorCrankysLabRATory  9 років тому

      +Matthew Caruk Two part epoxy is strong enough, and then I brace with styrene. Test fitting is the only way to make sure things will fit.

    I have a 67 Impala & I want to use a pro street 67 Chevelle wheel tub . From the look's of this It will work just fine ! I also have a 56 Del Ray that I'm thinkin of using a wheel tub from a Hot Rod Lincoln M K V! . Same scale 1/24 ' but I think I may have to add to the back as the trunk of the Lincoln is maby 3/4 inch shorter tan the Del Ray . Another project In the works Is a 64 Richer Petty Belvidere that I bought at a garage sale w/ a beat up 70 super bee ' but the Tub's & frame are fine . I want to make this into a # 43 Tribute Pro Street car ' as all the decal's are in good shape !!
