- Опубліковано 15 жов 2024
- Welcome to our first ever Catch n Cook on Expedition Evans! Surviving off the ocean by eating what we catch. Selective hunting at its finest with our friends:
Dre and Aiyana @ Sailing Naida: / @sailingnaida
Sasha and Raff @ Spear It Animal: / spearitanimal
We first have to gear up by heading to Florida Freedivers before teaming up with Spear it Animal and SV Naida to go spearfishing. We manage to snag a couple of fish and Brett grabs a lobster with his hands.
This is going to be a regular event, we hope, so stay tuned for more catch n cook episodes!!

I just watched all of Raff & Sascha's videos over at Spear It Animal. They are awesome!
That blue suit looks amazing such an awesome contrast. The vertical surfacing shot was perfect.
Tech tip; to take the effort/struggle out of suiting up, wear a dive skin. You’ll be amazed how easy wet suits slid on and off, even when wet. Hidden extra, the skin gives you UV protection, too.
Great video thank you for including us 😊
You “kids” are killin it! Enjoy!
Clear fins == good choice!!
What a great life you two are living. All your hard work so worth. Stay safe, sail safe and spear fish safely.
There is a Vlogger in Panama who completely survives from daily snorkeling and he's really good, generally single on his boat or tries to get a couple of nice looking crew ladies to feed these fish. I've really learned a lot from him but its all Atlantic, I'm currently in the Pacific. He's extremely selective although he has his favorites.. no fridge so each catch is eaten within hours. His name is Plucky. Plucky doesn't use a barbecue, he gathers food on little islands and cooks it on the island.
Sailing into freedom, just watched his upload today. Plucky (his real name is Peter) is really fun to watch, and not so polished but a bit rough and rugged on an old mono-hull using rainwater to fill his water-tanks.
He cooks inside sometimes but it is really hot there because he stays near the San Blas Islands, Northwest of Panama facing the Caribbean Sea. Cooking outside on a driftwood fire makes sense.
AWWWW, I needed that, Thank you - land locked till summery days come in 2+ months ,,, 5 Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
The fun really has begun. Thank you guys for allowing us to experience it with you. We want more more more
Sasha & RAF? LoL! What a pair! Sasha knows a lot more about fish and fishing than most men & probably boats too. There’s one thing that everyone that sails has in common, and it’s that everyone is willing to “help” anyone in need & share their knowledge, the way things are on land right now that’s a very rare commodity. You guy’s always seem to meet like-minded people who are a welcome , positive addition to your already great videos.
Yes please!!! Absolutely jealous in a good way! 😃🤩 Please please please do more of the spear fishing / ocean feasting when you have time 💙
Y'all...I am really enjoying the vibe to this channel...good transition from boat fixers to adventure guides...it's really fun to watch you all. Thank you.
Finally getting to reap what you’ve sewn. Love seeing y’all kicking it!!
supper with friends yay!
How did we miss this video? This is an A plus/plus video. thanks
Exceptional video!!!!
You are reaping the dividends of all if you hard wirk day after day of getting a solid sea-worthy ship on the water.
Now you're having a ton of fun!
Great cutting of the video -all I can say.
The feast looked exceptional and good to you kicking it up with other sailing folks.
Jade, just want you to know... Celsius drinks have the equivalent amount of caffeine as 3 cups of coffee. I love them... below ingredients label it states; contains 200mg of caffeine. Be careful, Love you guys.
Great video guys. Loved the audio while you were diving. That spread you had made me hungry and I had just finished eating. Thank you for sharing. Have a good week ahead.
I believe that this is the best video you have filmed. I enjoyed this episode the most since you startedvfilming. Keep up the good work!
Love your videos guys. Especially when you were fixing the boat up. Now enjoy 😉
Great video. We have that Magma cookware in our pickup truck camper and love it.
That was SO much fun to watch! Love you guys ❤
I remember there was a season for the lobsters down in the bahamas a long time ago. Not sure if that’s still true. I used to live diving. Happy sailing!!
Great episode! thanks for sharing.
Nice to see people having fun together and sharing. Thanks for this, I had a crappy day.
Tomorrow will be better🙂
Come on people let's go show @SailingNaida some love, and make him jump!!
👏 make 👏 him 👏 jump 👏
Ya meet the nicest peeps on sailing vessels! Beautiful video - and the end had my mouth watering!
That food looked so good!!
That's living. Congrats on getting to this point in your adventure. Best to you both, always...
Safe travels! ❤️
At the end the lionfish: eat 'em to beat 'em. They make killer ceviche.
bonjour les amis that was fun !! i truly enjoyed the kindness and cameraderie between you all. the food is to die for... but let's not die. thanks for an upbeat and fresh vidéo. cheers
Love watching your videos each week. They are so cool 😎
great work guys, in last 2 days i binge watched all your videos. I missed this one since it was not added in "from beginning" playlist. Looking forward to see more of your work. Happy sailing and good luck.
Great Job on the video, loved the spear fishing and the reward of all !!!! Stay safe and have fun!
Thank you for producing "happiness" and high energy/quality in your videos.
Really happy for you guys - it's like the culmination of so many 'years' of hard work. Nice dive gear btw.
That food looks so good! What fun you're having. Excellent!
Great to see you both just enjoying the boat life !!
Fair winds ⛵️
Love these episodes, they bring back memories.... Thanks!
These are the days to cherish and remember.
Hate to be a spoiler, but there are gonna be much lesser days, but, well you know, just keep these days in mind and soldier on.
Great to see you both just enjoying the boat life !!
Such an enjoyable episode!
good to see Raf and Sascha, not to mention how good you are looking in your Florida suit from LaVaga
The blue was the right choice. I've been watching your videos since day one. I live on Cape Cod and enjoyed all the "local" videos. You guys are great. Have a great time always
After all your hard work it is super to go (virtual) diving with you two. Lovely filming and that dish of seafood looked delicious😋😋
I like spear fishing but we do it a completely different way, we cut a hole in the ice in winter and pull the spear house over the hole light the stove for heat put the decoy down wiggle it a little and wait for a fish to come in, nail it with nine point spear
wow best expedition evans video ever!
Awesome
And so, after all the hard work you two have put in, it’s time to reap the rewards. What a great looking sea food BBQ. Enjoy folks, stay safe
Well it took a lot of work, I've been following along for a while now and you guys have put in all the effort. I'm glad you're finally getting some reward... great video
You all look so graceful in the water. Loved this episode
oh man when you pointed out the what ever kind of barnacles those are it brought back loads of memories from when i was a kid spearfishing around the docks for cargo ships near brownsville/southpadre island. i still have several scars from those sobs.
This is the new Lavagabonde !
I’m glad to see y’all having some fun now! Let the good times roll!
Sasha is a good teacher, you can learn a lot from her ! Where has Far Side been ? Haven't seen an upload from Sash and Nat in a while !
Ahh, that's her name. I was straining to remember. Saw a couple videos of her and her sister crossing the Gulf Stream.
Grillin" them is the ONLY way to go! YUM!!👍
Hey guys! We love your videos and have watched you from the start. Today we decided to watch you on the big screen with our marina buddies in Vietnam - now they finally understand that there are in fact stores that sell everything you need for watersports/boating under one roof! SeaYa next week 🙂☀️
Love the blue!
Great video, looking forward to seeing you in the Bahamas. At the feast it looked like the film star from S/V The Far Side, featuring Freya and Luca.
Y’all going to have a blast in the Bahamas. Sascha give you any tips on prime fishing spots?
Yummy. That looks so good, I’m licking my IPad! And I can taste it!
This is amazing.
Hey guys . Great vids. Good tip is to put a plastic bag on your foot and hand when sliding on your wet suit. Save that energy for diving.
The clear fins are the bomb
Great episode.
Hmmmm, please don't lose track of the awesome couple and the amazing feat you have achieved getting to where you are. Love you living the dream, but...........
Some cool kit guys. Getting jealous 🤣😘😘
Those clear fins are very cool.
Hey from Wisconsin. I love your videos. Your edits and your screen presence is so good. I love your life.
Great video! All that food looked so good!
Good video friend , was just checking out your channel and i joined up
7:29 ironic since phone is waterproof - - yes but, does it float... I lost mine in the bayou this last weekend. used it all day, waterproof held up... but it still sinks.. lol
Another great video, love the diving gear
Great episode this week 👍
I noticed TT Eva hanging out our local Raw Bar yesterday. Sorry I missed Brett and Jade from Expedition Evans
Great videography with the drone.
GREAT video. Just subscribed to both of you friends channels.
There is also a spearfishing store called spear America right next to Southport Raw Bar and Kelly's Landing restaurant

if the water is cold bring some (hot) soapy water in a bottle to wet the suites before putting them on.....
Jade, the absolute perfect female form. What a feast for the tummy too.
Hi guys from Australia 🇦🇺🦋🇦🇺🇺🇸🐬🦋🐬🦋🍷🍷💖🌸🌺
Looks like fun! 😃
I think you just covered 4 of the 5 YT Sailing channels I follow.
Hi Jade and Brett, love your vids and enthusiasm. Could you PLEASE put an episode number in you titles - UA-cam has most of your vids as 1 Month ago or 1 Year ago. We who want to watch you for the long-term would really appreciate knowing we haven't missed a post.
Be safe!!, John
May the seas lie smooth before you.
May a gentle breeze forever fill your sails.
May sunshine warm your face,
And kindness warm your soul.
And, until we meet again,
May God bless you and keep you safe.
Just read the date! There is also 30 days in a month so it will show one month ago when it switches months!
Nice Video. I recognized the sisters from another vlog.
Boat BQ, like RV Q nice 👍🏽
Great video, loved it
Great video guys
Another great video. I also immediately subscribe to the other UA-camrs.
no link guys
great vid btw :)
Best life ever 💙
It's definitely a good one
To make the most of spear fishing in the Caribbean be sure to learn the skills to catch, clean and prepare invasive lionfish - it takes talent to catch them and they're really great to eat - could be a whole video in The Bahamas! Please check out the ecological importance of herbivores like parrotfish, please respect the protected and threatened status of grouper, note the regional pressure on snapper and the special protected status of conch. You could research how to humanely dispatch a lobster. Keep it sustainable and help the local fishers' livelihoods where you visit. And in most cases just take photos, or great video.
Great 👍❤️
I love these two. There are so much love and happiness between them. So positive and sweet as they travel through their journey of their life
😍🙏🥰
Caffeine is actually quite a potent toxin for many species of insect and birds as well as dogs, I believe.
I was formerly a bush pilot and loved it above most things in life, but I developed a condition known as Meniere's disease which has severely debilitating effects on the otolithic organ of the inner ear.
Fortunately I only contracted the condition in one ear and a specialist was able to treat it surgically, but I basically lost function in that ear which ended flying and motorcycle riding for me.
The specialist told me that during the early stages of research into Meniere's disease large doses of caffeine were used to stimulate the onset of Meniere's symptoms.
As a consequence I have often wondered at the quantities of coffee many if not most pilots consume and whether they would continue to do so if they knew the potential risks!
Do you lock up the dinghy when you go ashore?
👍👍👍👍👍
