- This is my personal take on the merits of the Bind-it-All vs. the Cinch. Hands-down I think the Bind-it-All beats the Cinch on performance - and other factors as well. Read my blog post for more details. scrappynan.blog...
You're suppose to hold the binding completely against the wall when cinching. Plus, you are kind of biased. You make it look like you really don't want the Cinch to work properly. I can't understand why you wouldn't learn how to properly use this machine before doing this review. It's misleading.
I agree with you. I already have a BIA and I am quite happy with it so I'm not getting a Cinch. I ran across this video on happenstance and as I watched the video I was thinking she's not doing it correctly. While I've never even heard of the Cinch until this video, I wouldn't use this poor "review" since it is clear that the "reviewer" didn't learn how to properly use one of the tools she was reviewing.
While I might agree the reviewer has an obvious preference still and evenso, fact remains The Cinch has no walled area, front + back supports well assist in the shaping of binding wires. Just a fact. Perfectly seating the binding wire offers the grand assist each I mean every time. Full stop.

I wouldn't make a decision on which machine to buy using this video. She seems biased or a zutter employee. I have both and like both. The zutter is great for small projects. I did struggle with the zutter when trying to punch more holes and bind a larger album. You can take the zutter to crops easier. I like the Cinch, because I make a lot of larger albums. There are clear instructions (for the Cinch,) to make sure you don't get unneeded holes or half holes. I struggled with both, in trying to get it to close the wires. With practice, you'll get the hang of both. With the new Cinch, you have the option of square or round. I prefer the sturdiness of more wires to bind my albums. It looks nice with fewer wires, but you lose out on strength. I don't know about you, but my albums get looked at a lot. I say buy both! Each have their good and bad points. And with any machine, once you get used to using it. You relax and learn how to use them properly and get good results.
Paula Roehl-Johnson I agreed with what you said & did think about buying the 2 but was looking which one to buy first, Iv seen journals at craft fairs & always ask which machine they used & these were the top 2, but after watching that review I wouldn't buy from Zutter for allowing an employee to do such a biased review. I want to do 6x6 & 8x8 & will be buying the Cinch now, & look for a different one for the smaller journals.

Agreed. Biased based on experience and knowledge. knowing how to properly use any machine will improve performance. Appreciate the effort.
Do not use this video to make your decision on what machine YOU should buy. First, she should have made a video research for tutorials on how to properly USE the binding portion of the Cinch. When I watched this video, it was obvious to me, that any time you use a round metal object and you compress it, the metal will always slide away (as she showed in this video). No matter how many times you try, it will slide. I don't mind anyone being partial; especially if you've been using a product for a long time, but the correct way is to place the rounded open end flushed against the wall of the machine, then, not pressing all the way down (which makes it go further than it should). If you have certain preferences ; round vs square holes or 6 wires as a pose to 7, bigger or smaller.....that is understood. But you should not let this video sway you until you try for yourself. I don't even own any of these machines, but I've seen them in use, up close, and too many times. They all work once you LEARN the proper way to use them. I like them all, but ultimately, you should purchase the machine of your choice BASED on your PREFERENCE, based on your research (not one video) and your experience. I'm not bashing anyone, I just an opinion based on research and facts.

Eve U I agree with what you have said but I am so glad I watched this video as it's made my mind up which binder to buy & I when I get it I will practise like you should with any new tools. I don't expect my 1st journal to be perfect but I'm dam sure the O ring would not be squashed like she just did! You could tell from the beginning she didn't want to make the Cinch come up as her number one & it was annoying as I wanted to see a real comparison for me to decide which to purchase, but after what Iv just seen I will be buying the Cinch & wont be touching the bind it all.

I agree the review seems a bit one sided.
The tutorial I watched on the cinch, the wire was placed all the way back against the wall, similar to the zutter laying against the bottom and she got a perfect circle
I agree with a lot of the comments, you need to read directions and learn how to CORRECTLY use the tool. I have a cinch and love everything about it! I don't find the holes distracting in the least. I don't feel this is a true comparison video. You already were going to choose the bind it all over the cinch before you started. Why did you bother to make even make a comparison video then?
Good to finally see a video on the bind it all. I have watched many demo videos on the cinch and it appeared to be very simple to user. However after watching you demo it it looked very difficult. I asked at a local craft store if they have a preference, and one instructor told me she owned the BIA, however, when it came to using them, the cinch worked better when making albums. She offered to let me try both before buying. She said she wished she would have had that chance. I also noticed you did not have paper in your wire which would have made it easier to place it in the machine and hold it there. I will wait to see if anyone else gives the cinch as negative a review as you have.
I've had a Bind it All for years and find it very tricky to use to punch and bind bigger books. Some of the holes on the Bind it All aren't the same size and it doesn't cut very neatly. Binding with it can be very hit and miss and I've wasted so much wire using it. I'm switching to the Cinch because even in a review so clearly biased towards the Bind it All, the Cinch punched holes looked much nicer. I've viewed other videos and the wires weren't being put into the machine correctly in this video.
ETA: Got the Cinch and it's so easy to use compared to the Bind It All. It shaped the wires just fine first go.
I'm totally in love with Cinch. I had BIA a long while and when I switch it to Cinch I was SUPER HAPPY (and I'm still super happy). No more BIA. Cinch wins, sorry ;)
btw Cinch is now available with rectangular holes;)
You can learn to make perfect binding with Cinch, not only put wire in random location and push... I actually made it wrong one or two times when I was distracted by something or had a bad days...

Actually used the cinch machine at Heidi Swapp class and there is a certain way she taught us to use the cinch. I bought it before I even learned. Also used the cinch at Theresa Collins class and learned again how to properly use it. Thank God. Just purchased the Bind It All and when it arrives I'll play with it and see thanks for the video :-)
OK, I chose the Bind it All for me because of the size of the machine and the size of the holes, but this video seems a bit strange because I know many people who have and love the Cinch and they do the binding action and get perfectly rounded O wires.

Do not use this video to help you make your decision on what machine to purchase. Horrible review and seems very biased. The BIA is good for small projects the cinch works great for big and small. Like others have said should have learned to properly use the machine, like any other machine first tries may not always be perfect because even the "perfect outcome" was not perfect.
You can punch as many holes as you want by pulling out the buttons, so that’s not a problem, you must also push the wires to the back.

I have trouble with my Bind it All when I go to make a bind with more than 6 rings, as the ones after the initial 6 always come out egg shaped. So I was searching for tips on how to get those perfect .......but when she does the one with more than 6 , she says they are perfect but if you watch carefully the ones over 6 are not perfect but seems she hides those. so off to look for another video for a tip on how to get these larger ones perfect.
Great video. Another plus for the bind it all it is $20.00 cheaper than the cinch today on Amazon. I'm going to check ebay to see if I can find a better deal. I watched a few cinch tutes. before watching yours and although the closed the wire a bit differently than your experiments to have a nice finish, I know that I would prefer the bind it all.

Looks to be the failing due to zero back support. The Bind It All has carefully designed theirs to offer a back wall support which assists in the proper scrunching, perfectly!

wow! The cinch beat this thing .Wow this lady is not doing it right. You can just use one wire to bind a book.
at the end when you showed the "perfect outcome" of the bind it all, it was actually not so perfect.
I’m sorry but this is so frustrating. I don’t own the machine and I know that the binding wire needs to be flush against the side of the machine. It’s an unfair video as you haven’t used the product correctly. You said in the video you’re sure you were doing something wrong - you were! The machine makes very professional looking projects - when used correctly.
Can the O binding wire be easily opened again to add more pages or change the cover on either system? Thank you, Ann

I've watched a few videos on The Cinch, why does it look like when ever someone uses a few sheets of paper it sticks in the machine? I've even watched a spokes person for the product and they looked like they struggled to get the papers out. She also struggled to get it out when she put the tab up for the larger pieces of paper. I also seen on other videos that you need to get eye level to press the wiring together which seems like a bit of a hassle. I think I'll pass on this product.
Now I was wondering what happened to the Zutter paper cutter ( Dreamkutz)? I was interested in it and seen a few reviews and no I can't even find it any where to purchase it. It was a little costly, but I hate using a ruler to try and cut the same size pages over and over.I know it had a few problems/customer complaints with locking up and making horrible noises when using it. Was it pulled from the market?
I looked on the binditall website and they do have some available (apparently they are having trouble keeping up with demand), Amazon has 17 available at the moment. I mostly make cards and (occasionally) mini-albums and I LOVE my Dreamkutz, but you must be aware of the details of how it works so you won't be disappointed. You can only cut one page at a time. It doesn't cut well on flimsy paper (65 lb. is the thinnest I will use) and should not be used on paper heavier than 180 lbs. The main point is that it cuts two ways: 1. Any 12" wide paper into thirds (giving three 4" wide strips), and 2. Any paper from 4" to 12" wide in half. This gives many results that are standard sizes (and the ones I use the most) starting from 12X12 or 8 1/2X11 card stock, but for other options you would have to cut your paper to a starting size with a regular paper trimmer first. For cardmakers that use 1/2 and 1/4 sheets of letter size very frequently, it's fantastic. It's also easy to cut lots of 4X6 photo matts from 12X12 paper in a flash. You can look at the Dreamkutz cutting template to see the options that require trimming first on their website on the Help page.

This is an old video and I understand the cinch was new to you as you stated. I don't think you wanted to make it look bad because you didn't understand it,
I agreed that the square holes look better and I like the size of the BIA. So thanks for the video if it were mine I would delete all the complainers. :) PS. Just bout the BIA!

Shocking!!! I watched this video thinking I will learn how to get a visual on which machine is going to be right for me. I had to watch as I did in the end have a good laugh, I did have to turn the volume off as your voice was annoying. I'v never seen a video with somebody so biased against a product & for me & with a company going live & doing a review like you just did & yes to me you certainly do work for the company ( its the number one choice & I hope you make it yours?) Why do you want us to make it our choice if you don't work for them? Not everybody like rectangle holes, which by the way on the picture you have shown they don't look clean cut & tatty! I will not be buying from zutter & Just by watching this I will be defiantly buying The Cinch. Iv seen journals made from each of these products at craft fairs & the O wires were not squashed like yours so maybe if your going to compare a product give it more than a few tries, cause you seemed to rush & not line the wires up on the cinch but on the bind it all you took your time, you wanted it to fail but this review shows me its the better machine. Now if you had said the same but with the opposite machine I would still go for the one you don't recommend! Ohhh! Worrying about space? Ha! your using the same amount of space with 2 bind it all machines! Seriously pathetic biased & a total set up!

Face the wire the opposite and put it all the way against the wall when u r pushing it together. It actually look better n I saw a WRMK demo n they do what u described here n it looks okay.
This Cinch was used incorrectly. I wish she had read the directions, which I will admit are rather sparse, before she made the video. The way she is using it is what is deforming the wires. When I first got mine I had to learn a little bit about it by fiddling with it. But you have to use your head and not just stuff it in crooked and hope for great results. I was looking for a good comparison, but this is not it. She should have emailed the company when she got stuck, which is what I did. I received great customer service. I am not biased against the Bind It All, because I would certainly like to have the smaller holes. I find the large round holes unattractive, plus they cost me 1/2 inch off my project.
