    Hi dave fantastic dvd, I've kept Lurchers now over 60 years,the way you train your Lurchers is exactly the same as I was taught by my lovely grandad. I'm still working my Lurchers fantastic type 3-4greyhound 1-4bearded collie all bred by David and sally Hancock,all the very best of hunting . Alan from Coventry warwickshire.👍

    Bought the original vhs (15 years ago or more!) tape of this from Dave, very good training help tool for a lurcher pup.

      I find it really simple to train a dog from a pup
      Especially a saluki cross greyhound
      Most people aren't intelligent enough to think for themselves
      That's where the problem is lol

      +Will Wonka Yes it is, a bull x is a very popular x, probably more popular than the collie cross nowadays.

    Would just like to say thankyou for making these videos. They are brilliant and very entertaining, Im 24, thinking about getting a dog once I settle down a bit. Ive had my eye of getting a whippet. do they have the same prey drive of a lurcher? Just to say I am planning on speding alot of time of training. Any thoughts?
    Thanks alot
    Tobias

    didnt really like the purdey film but the follow up film showing two kelpie crosses is superb, two top dogs ferreting in the hills. dave used to get slagged off a lot back in the day for being a showmen, i think he puts his money were his mouth is, very impressed with the dogs shown even though there not my type.
    respect to plummer, phil lloyd, dave and the warrener for making films...takes balls to go public

    Brilliant videos, even now in 2019 still very educational. I’m having problems with my dog atm, he’s a 7 month saluki x greyhound. His recall is becoming a really difficult thing for the dog to grasp. Any ideas in helping this? He’s fine in confined spaces but as soon as we are in a open field he does what he likes. Will basically run away and I spend a hour + trying to find him. It’s knocked my trust in him. Any help/ideas would be very helpful. Thanks in advance

    I have a question: is a lurcher only a cross between a english greyhound and sheepdog or terrier, or can you use any other “running dog“ to cross with. I mean, as a example: if you cross a italian greyhound with a collie or terrier, is that outcome even a lurcher too or not?

      But for fucks sake don’t get an Italian greyhound unless you want to catch mice?

    This is so outdated (if it was ever really in data) if your running a lurcher for lamping you want to study Gundog (labrador) retrieve drills. This touches on them but the progress is sporadic and encourages faults.

      A lurcher is a cross ,breed!,

    • @willwonka9638
      @willwonka9638 9 років тому +1

      +Enzo Tornese lurcher is a mating between a herding dog a greyhound,mother usually greyhond,cos genes of mother more important than that of the male.plus greyhounds make good mums.

    • @drillerkiller3
      @drillerkiller3 9 років тому +2

      +Will Wonka No not just a herding dog, can be any breed crossed with a sight hound, not just a greyhound.

    • @drillerkiller3
      @drillerkiller3 9 років тому +1

      +Enzo Tornese A lurcher is a cross between a sight hound (greyhound, whippet, saluki, deerhound etc) with something else. This can be a first x or a mixture of a few (on sighthound part and other breed part) A sight hound to sighthound cross is a longdog.

    • @willwonka9638
      @willwonka9638 9 років тому

      Not true lol lurcher is from UK and a cross between pastoral breed x greyhound. Fact not fiction.
      Saluki x greyhound = Longdog.anything else is a mere hybrid :-)
