Thanks for checking it out Willie. Got a couple of shore dive trips coming up over the summer to kaikoura, so might be lucky enough to get a cray this summer. Also considering buying a cheap speargun... Sometimes when I'm in the water I see wrasse. Would ideally like to find some butterfish
Mate I've had to stop the vid to comment I'm lying in bed watching your vid and pissing myself with laughter after you drank the soap bottle I showed my wife beside me and she cracked up also Keep up the good work entertaining bro most would have edited that but your all good bro Can't wait to see more I'm still teary eyed from laughing Going to rewind and carry on Cheers
Well done getting legal paua funny but soild video I live in comandel matarangi you got to be good diver to get legal paua up here I have got 3 legal heeps like 90 ish mm but cool fun snokky around in clear water cool fun kai time
yeah even here it's still hard to get them, you look around any shore dive spots round Chch and you won't find legal paua. You go to a boat access only spot like in this vid and even then sometimes it's still a challenge. Gotta pick the good spots around the bull kelp.
Awesome vid bro👌🏿 I can see your very respectful when it comes to tangaroa, here’s a little food for thought giving back to tangaroa is something I have been bought up with wether it be with a karakia or even giving back your first catch for the day eg Paua, Kina, fish you name it it’s just a little appreciation. Anyway bro I just thought I’d put that out there, either way loving your mahi. Ch Chur
you should watch my Akaroa paua dive video from last year, it's got 3000 views, I take out my blue inflatable kayak, I mention karakia at the start of that video :)
Yeah it's a paua poaching spot. Good thing mpi are there often. But unfortunately they can't be there all the time. You'll never find a legal paua at wainui due to the accessibility and the poachers.
@@freakazoid111 I paid $4000 for the True Kit and $2800 for the tohatsu outboard. Wish I'd gotten the 15hp, 10hp is underpowered. Going used is a good option if you can find a good deal. But be careful of the open transom of the Takacat, the inside of the boat will get even wetter compared to the true kit, and because of the open transom, there is a greater risk of losing small items overboard. I've had my true kit's floor flooded before because of choppy seas or accidently plowing the nose of the boat into the water (too much weight up front). Flooded but unsinkleable because of the pontoons. BUT If you get water in the boat (which you will, eventually) and you have loose items in the boat (think gloves, mask and snorkle, speargun etc)... and you have an open transom? you risk losing those things overboard while having an open transom. So be careful about which Takacat you get and what you're going to do with it. Takacat don't exactly warn you about the dangers of losing your stuff through an open transom.
@@freakazoid111 mine is the discovery 3.3m. Initially I wanted the 4m but glad I opted for the 3.3. a bit smaller, a little lighter. It's what you call a SIB... Soft inflatable boat. The floor is dropstitch and is also inflatable. But it is very rigid when inflated. So rigid you can stand on the floor just like it was made from aluminium or something. Have a look at the true kit UA-cam channel and watch some of their videos. I've watched most of their videos several times. One more thing...get the max hp for whatever inflatable you get. My boat is rated for 5 to 15hp. I bought a 10hp outboard. And it's not enough, I struggle to get on a plane. Buyer's remorse, wish I'd saved up a bit more for the bigger outboard (15hp).
You are better off joining the south island spearfishing and freediving club. Costs about $40 a year membership, you will get access to their Facebook group which you can use to join up with multiple other divers and spearos on their boats, these guys have many years more experience than me. Plus my boat is small and it can't go very far or very fast.
They're not for sale, mpi will give you one for free, same for fisheries officers if you run into one. Just Google search your closest mpi office, phone them and ask them if they have a plastic paua knife they can give you.
You need to be much more careful when using the tool to remove the Paua as you are wounding them this is blatantly obvious at 13.34 you stuck the Paua tool into the flesh of that Paua and you can clearly see it bleeding a few seconds later, you are also removing far too many that are clearly undersize and by doing so risking killing them if the flesh is grazed as their blood does not clot.
what a alsome vid my bro so happy you got some good size paua.its been a long time coming.

Well you know it's more of an authentic genuine thing when you include the failures alongside the successes 😁

😂🙏👍
Awesome vid bro! Crack up at the soapy water haha
Too good not to include in the vid 😂
Awesome bro, cant wit till i can get a little similar boat for some solar missions
Make sure you do lots of research on what outboard motor size the boat will be rated for, that's really important, to get the right size outboard

Last time I went to Wainuni there were Chinese guys there with big net bags and 50-100 paua in them. And they can't seem to speak english.

@@KiwiKaimoana how much did you pay for your boat? I'm looking for something similar. I saw a takacat with 30cc near new for 5k

You are damaging the pauas getting them off ike that
I think you should watch my entire library of videos and leave your feedback, why stop at only one video.
Hey just wondering next time you're out any chance I could jump on board? I've just started

Where can you buy that specific paua knife?
They're not for sale, mpi will give you one for free, same for fisheries officers if you run into one. Just Google search your closest mpi office, phone them and ask them if they have a plastic paua knife they can give you.
Nice one mate looks like a beauty spot do you use a gps to mark your spots
No it's all in my head, I do so much At home looking at Google maps. I should probably start keeping a boating and diving journal though.
it has been in the -30f /-35c range for the past few weeks so its nice to see warm weather and water :D
ill make sure not to drink soapy water :D
only took 1 to 2 sec before I realized what I had done
