The reason why it’s so few black operators is they don’t get the opportunities to go to selections. Units don’t send them. I had guys way better than me that didn’t get to go. 92-02
It has nothing to do with "opportunities" or lack thereof. Everyone can have to opportunity to go screen get assessed and deleted. I would argue not alot of Black folks in the military don't go to selections to these units which is kinda sad
@nickdavis2222 thanks for your comment but I will have to disagree with you. Special Forces selection is all voluntary. Your unit cannot tell you that you can't go. Your travel is all provided through SOF. All you have to do is go see a recruiter. Delta Force selection is the same. You don't need a CO, SGM or 1ST signature. Just meet the pre-req and go talk to a recruiter. There are so many myths about why there aren't more black operators. The truth to the matter is that we don't recruit as we should. I remember when me and my team would walk into the PX and I would approach young black soldiers and ask them "you like the army? If you do, have you consider taking the walk?" You would be amazed by the answers I would get. 1. I can't swim 2. I hear you guys are crazy and eat rats. 3. I hear they break your fingers in SERE school. 4. I hear everyone is Racist. 5 I hear there are no black guys there.........(this one always made me laugh because I'm standing there in front of them wearing a green beret, SF, Ranger, and Airborne tab). I would tell them, if I can do it you can do it. I have personally recruited at least 12 black operators that have stellar careers. At the end, being an operator is a WANT. You got to WANT it, and it isn't EASY. I would love to see more black operators portrayed in Hollywood on the big screen. Hell, if I could afford it, I would make a movie on just my life in SOF. The lack of exposure to minorities in SOF is mind boggling to me. If you get a chance, google Our Legacy Group (OLG). It's a nonprofit organization started by minority operators to highlight the accomplishments of minorities in SOF. You will appreciate the awards, decorations and accolades that SOF minorities have accomplished. If you are still in and want to take this walk, get in touch with me and I can assure you, I'll point you in the right direction.
@emekaokoroma7517 thanks for the comment. Wouldn't say I was warrior, just an average guy on a team with great guys that always had my back. That is what makes this job so special. The training, deployments, the cool guy gear, and all the other perks are amazing, but nothing matches the guys to your left and right. At the end of the day, we never wanted to let each other down.
@drop_off_the_right I love ur comment. We use to recite movies and one liners all the time. “It’s the one that says BAD Mfer on it” pulp fiction Samual L Jackson. 😂

@j.walker7990 thanks for the comment. I like to think I was a solid teammate. Your reputation in SOF will always speak for itself. There was always someone that was bigger, faster, stronger, smarter, and did things better than everyone. But every day, you just keep grinding to be at the top.
Loved the interview, but I’m going to push back on thing regarding the base name changes. I agree with the changes. My issue is it should never had named military bases after traitors. The United States won, not the Confederates States. That’s a slap in the face. Those men lost and they didn’t deserve honor that should be reserved for the heroes of the US, not some wasted rage ass renegades that killed people carrying the flag of these United States. 🇺🇸
I wasn't spec ops but got out after 16 years. I had a beautiful wife and family, and the military wasn't worth losing it. It was a hard transition, but you can do it.

@rickyfiting1008 Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for your comments. I hope you check out the JMFG (Just Making Families Greater) one story at a time podcast. My podcast focuses on telling regular ordinary people's stories so that they can help others that may be struggling with the same problem. It has been very rewarding to link families up with the same struggles. They provide support, advice and guidance to each other. They lean on each other for strength. It displays the true resilience we have as humans.
Just firing up the podcast, can't wait.

1. I can't swim
Great episode. Really loved it
Good to see you Mike love the work
Awesome episode. What a warrior.
I think they should have just called him Samuel L. Jackson because he’s a mf’er….😂
Samuel Jackson is a fu(king communist. Don’t compare a great American to a lousy big mouth actor.
Samuel Jackson is an avowed communist. This is a great American.
@drop_off_the_right I love ur comment. We use to recite movies and one liners all the time. “It’s the one that says BAD Mfer on it” pulp fiction Samual L Jackson. 😂
GOD justly stepped down from heaven and justly stopped those bullets
@@knightshining I think he did. He stopped them and I just kept walking. That was a long day, and a long deployment. We didn't lose not one team member on that deployment, but my little brother Dave Glenn got blown up a few days later. He lived but has war scars that will haunt him for the rest of his life. But he is still here. That is all that matters. Thanks again for the comment

Seems like such a solid dude
@j.walker7990 thanks for the comment. I like to think I was a solid teammate. Your reputation in SOF will always speak for itself. Having true professionals that take pride in their work always made it challenging and competitive. Being around that caliber of guys made you better every day.
@damotherFNman I have nothing but respect for you brother. Family should always come first. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in our jobs that we forget to step back and see what really matters. I'm so glad you did. Much LOVE and RESPECT.....

This is the type guy that if shit ever went south I want to find him, a country boy will survive. He grew up with a gun in his hand living off the land.
@chrisweber1931 a country boy definitely will survive. It amazes me now days that boys can't drive sticks, clean wild game, bait a hook, back a trailer or just walk through the woods. I could do all these things by the time I was 8. I had a fulltime job and walked uphill both ways by the time I was 10. Thats the shit my dad use to say. Uphill both ways lol.
Please do more black operators I loved this such a great dude
@honisxtys1574 thanks for the comment. There are not a lot of black operators out there. I try not to make anything about race, but I would love to see more minority operators in SOF. At the end of the day, for me it was the best job in the world. I got paid to be an athlete with a gun in my hand. Train, advise, and assist different foreign soldiers to be proficient and lethal in their perspective jobs. Defend my country and do bad things to bad people. What more could a man ask for. DOL
