I was taking an antibiotic for my strep throat ( cephalexin ). It said on the bottle that after use of the drug I would have diarrhea, it didn’t say that I’d be in excruciating pain for a week and some change.... I suffered from severe cramps and diarrhea. I used the bathroom more than 6 times a day, I could hardly sleep and I felt hopeless! Step that helped me get better: -probiotic yogurt twice daily - rice - bread - probiotic pills ( once a day with a meal ) - fatty foods make it worse - patients and prayer I did this for about two days and found relief! I hope this helps someone 🖤
I did the yogurt and immediately felt better but was still hurting so I continue with probiotics. They were hell for a few days but felt so much better
I disagree in regards with the amount of loose stools. I didn't have that many. Yet I had severe cramping, the obvious stool, fever, low blood pressure, increased pulse, etc......... . We nurses have seen it enough!! Let us help in deciding. Seriously!!!!!
I was prescribed clarithromycin for a 12 year old root canal extraction Aug 9, started those antibiotics two days prior (aug 7), after those 10 days, had loose stools ever since, more like butt piss than anything, I even took probiotics daily. Then i had symptoms of bashful bowels when I just couldn’t control any type of clinch. I tried! I would run to the bathroom 11-12 times in 8 hours. Even if I drank water bc the yellowish mucus would still be comming out. I felt tired, I kept headaches, ibprophen would even take the edge off my headache, I found myself sleeping on a ice pack. Then this nurse told me I was dehydrated and suggested pedialyte. After 30 mins of downing half a bottle my headache was non existent. I have a stool sample that is being sent for testing but in the meantime, I was prescribed yet again, another antibiotic, this time it is metronidazole. I just want to go back to how things were. I took a good poop for granted 😭
I hate that this was a month ago and I’m just now seeing this!! Yes, I did have c-Diff. It was a very mild case and as soon as the nurse came in she could smell the poop sample. She said ALL cdiff has the same smell and very distinctive. She sent it off and within 2 days I got a call confirming that it was. After taking The second dose of antibiotics by the 3 rd day I had solid bowel movement and I have been fine ever since. I still take plant based probiotics that is 45 billion strains. The current probiotics I was taking was only 25 billion and It wasn’t enough. I was also eating 2 Activia yogurts every single day. Now I’m down to 2 activia a week.
I tested positive for c diff in 2020. Well everyone was worried about the pandemic, I was worried about my severe hearing loss, vomiting, and infections. I still suffer with the issues today. I simply got used to it and I take a lot of medications and talk to my doctor every month or so. It came back at least four times. I've had two surgeries for fecal transplants and I think it's coming back again. I still feel sick. I got so depressed in 2018 to 2020 that I wanted to die and I think that severely affected my immune system. My entire body just collapsed and I'm still dealing with the consequences of not caring for myself during that time. Now I have a fiance, and a future I want to fight for but I can't get a break yet.
Hearing loss? I haven't heard about that symptom. I just had c diff for the first time after taking antibiotics and got out of the hospital about a week in a half ago.
I was taking my daughter in laws mum to doctors and ended up taking her to A&E because wasn't getting anywhere with her gp. really bad diarrhoea for weeks & weight loss the smell was shocking. She was getting weaker by the day. She was diagnosed with c diff & sadly passed away. I feel if she had been diagnosed weeks & weeks before she would still be with us today 😥😥😥
If I wasn't a nurse and insisted on being tested, I would dead. Feel like I am close now. Who does the doctor have traigeing patients???? A medical assistant!!! She didn't want to listen. Time to put nurses back in the office!!!!!
For 2 weeks the Drs in the er kept telling me that there's nothing wrong with me. That I should talk to a therapist and that! But I kept going back because I was suffering and I knew there was something wrong with me. After 2 weeks of saying it's all in my head.... I finally got an answer. CDIFF. And that's only because I refused to let them tell me that I was crazy! Now I'm having to go get checked throughly to see how extensive the damage is because the didn't believe me.
@@tiffanylgarcia78 That's the same thing they were doing to me. Kept sending me home. Telling me I was depressed. I feel for you cause they did the same thing to me 🙏
@@tiffanylgarcia78 it's really sad and appalling at the same time, especially considering the cost of ER visits. I'm in the Portland area and meth use/drug addiction is rampant here, you can't go to an Emergency room here, all you will get is sideways looks and if you're in pain they automatically assume you must be there to get drugs. I was at home in pain so bad, I could not walk, sitting on all fours, just crying. I wished I could just die. I delt with this in varying severity for over 4 years (!) Husband took me to the ER twice and I was treated like a drug fiend making up lies. I suffered for years and it wrecked my daily life, but I would rather have died then ever going back to the ER... I was eventually diagnosed with stage 4 Endometriosis... so although not the same as what happened to you, I can understand what you suffered. I'm very sorry for what happened to you. Much love.
The thing is that c.diff used to be almost only seen in the hospitals with weakened patients on antibiotics for a certain period of time. When my child got it her doctor had to specially add c.diff to the list of the tests for her sample because she had recently read in the medical journal about its spread in to the communities. That’s how rare it was to be seen in the community. So in many cases like these comments here, maybe it wasn’t the first thought of the doctors at the time, not trying to defend them. However it has become more common outside the hospitals today, and it should be tested earlier than like 10 years ago. My condolences to your loved one.
Mine never had an odor at all. Never on antibiotics, never even had pain or fever. I had pain after dr put me on vanco. Just finished dificit and still have pain. Only original symptom was diarrhea 3x per day. My dr did poop test and started me on vanco right away. I don’t think he knows what he’s doing
what action would you take for a patient with r-cdi who again tested positive 3 weeks after finishing 10d dificid but is not experiencing diahrea? just wait it out or would you put them on a vanco/dif taper pulse?
I aint a doc, but, i am carnivore, i eat zero carbs (except for praps a little in meat & cream), hence the flora etc in my lower bowel aint very important for me.
