The washers days in The back
Wow these washers looks like they really were made to wash clothes, The Washers nowadays, well most of them are just plain crap, especially the "High Efficiency washers which are past madness, because they use little to no water to wash clothes. I say bring back the real washing machines like these now, and get rid of the just awful ones they are manufacturing today.
I "Second" that!!!
The old fashioned washers really washed, but the so called "he" washers are just "Mattel Toys" and that's a compliment.
kansasthunderman1 LOL, very true.
shv90210. I 3rd that. lived in part of that era. They washed and rinsed your clothes in 35 min, not 2 hours. They got stains out and cost 1/3rd of what washers today cost. And they lasted 15 years before anything went wrong with them, and I mean anything.
wishful thinking. i agree with you 100% on bringing back washers that actually did their job and washed. my grandma has a 90s whirlpool direct drive. washes in about 20-30 minuets full cycle. only replaced parts were lid switch and agitator dogs. my grandpa has an LG front loader. its already had to have the stator replaced. oh and at the very minimum is takes over an hour full cycle.
shv90210 yep new washers are made to waste money and break so they can earn even more money
Has everyone forgot about this masterpiece from our childhood!?!? I watch this several times every year still since the date it was released!!!

Oh my word. Loved the video. Absolutely loved The Troggs and remember the up and down agitator machines at our local laundrette. My aunt had a radiogram with automatic record player. Thanks so much, brilliant!

boa obra pra quem é a minha vida 😢
Wow! A GM Frigidaire and a Frigidaire Unimatic has those before the modern day washing machines that even have a pulsator!
1:04
Wow where'd you get all of them old washer videos? Or are these recent videos of antique washers that you have? I remember thos ones with the agitator that moved up and down. They sure seemed to be a flop! And funny how they are going BACK to side loading washers. I bet most people think that is a NEW idea. LOL! However the controls now are surely better. Not sure about the construction though. Them old ones were all steel. Usually with enamal paint.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉😢😮😅😊
Very creatilve video, I really enjoyed it. I remember my grandmother had a washer, either a GE or Bendix, that had a rubber lining that expanded and squeezed the water out of the clothes. Nice blonde Zenith radio and tv combination. I wish the clip of the kitchen was a little longer I paused that scene to check it out ,that is really a cool 1950's kitchen. I was at an estate sale in an upper bracket house that hand't been touched since the early 60's. It was like stepping back in time.
❤
before i by a new washer, i get this feeling that with impellers they just dont turn the clothes around not like a agatior would
Good music
Meu filho de três anos ama essa música😍

This is excellent, creative (damn it's creative) and touching. Fantastic concept.
In living color. It was the American age. Sadly our own internal forces left us high and dry. I hate new appliances.

Thank u I was searching for this washer because is sooo cool
I wish Whirlpool was still making the direct drive washers.

I miss those old builds! I am very upset we had to switch to modern crap!
I So Agree
the modren is not crap its just stupid people buying the cheap ones
actually hackfreehvac the nintendo unit i owned actually had the audio video line outputs on the right side so it can be hooked to todays TVS and prob even these units, my age is 27 and i was an 80's child, and can you use a video Rf modulator that converts a line out video/audio signal to a 75 ohm signal then you would need a matching transformer or do these old units just have an antenna and thats it/ if so a project tv transmitter would work wouldnt it?
There is so much laundry
Still one of my favorite all time videos
OMG I love this the I Love Lucy clip was genius!!!!

When I was young a had a neighbor that had a Frigidaire washer that had the bouncing agitator, and a window in the lid. Our washer broke down one day and I had clothes that need to be spun out and it was the middle of winter. I took my clothes over her to finish washing them, it was the coolest thing I have ever seen.
How old are you now?
@@juanilopezpatterson7330 I'm 55
@@jkalin196511 omg dude
i love whashers
i have a stereo RF modulator that I use on my dads old samsung 13 inch TV as long as it has the cable connector on it and if not there are prob ways around that via a matching transformer
Thanks! It put a smile on my face even though we are having a massive heatwave in CA, fires all over the place and Covid.

i remember watching this 8 years ago, such a great memory.
at 1:38 that looks like the innards of a vintage Kitchenaid dishwasher?!?! Those things were great and built SOLID... made the mistake of carelessly opening the door to one that had 2 broken door springs.. The door slipped out of my hand and landed on my toe, the edge only stopping when it hit bone.. That was extreme pain
love is all around. beautiful song and awesome machines
Deu até uma vontade de lavar roupa!
Back in the days when things were built to last. Nowadays everything is junk manufactured in a sweatshop in some far away land.
Yep in China
tamiasthechipmunk , I know right? Washers that actually cleaned your clothes, and I mean CLEANED your clothes in 30 min instead of 2 hours without breaking for at least 15 years
The stuff they are making today is disgraceful
same with me

@@Tvmanbaby1986 the hell you saying?
It shows old washers and then an LG washer spinning not agitating
Well, the video was published in 2007, so that most likely wasn't an LG. If anything, a GE Profile Harmony.
Exactly. The first nintendos DID have the video and audio output, but they also came with the RF modulator. I think with the Super NES it was a choice and they also added stereo sound. Then the N64 came with the Video and stereo outputs and you probably could get a FR mod but I never needed one by that time. When I was about 7, we got the first Arari "Pong" game system. Then a few years later, we got the ultra high tech "Atari 2600"! Then the Coleco, and so on until Nintendo ruled for a while!

1:18 The 1947 Unimatic, I want one, I give no craps about how rare they are and that I live in Britain... as soon as I see one for sale with it's original perforated tub and agitator it's mine.
1:08. I've NEVER seen a washer spin counter clockwise before. Never realized that until I saw this. What is the washer at 2:34? You guys have me lusting after a Unimatic, a Kelvinator, and a Apex Wash-a-matic. (In that order). Until then, I have to persuade myself that my Crosley is still fun to watch. (It does have wonderful turnover).

I'm not the vintage appliance or electronic type of guy, I'm more of the modern type, but this is pretty great for sure, with most of these clips showing rather interesting machines. Also, this is one of the first washer videos I've watched from 7 to 8 years ago.
This video also feels like it defines the washer community in everyway, now every time I hear the song that plays during this, I always think of the washer community

Love the video - very clever. I saw most of those shows and commercials first run - yeah before "reruns"...ooops! I gave away my age. : ) My aunt had a Frigidaire with jet action and I wanted my mother to buy one but she was afraid the agitator might fly out of it and hit something. lol She always bought GE washers and dryers.

@amberlynn6914 it's an old GE I think. Not sure from what year.

the neptune was the beginning of the end for the once great Maytag.
chieftp your right ! The Neptune is what killed Maytag then they class action law sutes . Then whirlpool bought them out back in 06 . Maytag had the right concept but it bit them .
what is the name of that washer that has the up and down agitator
If I wanted to view these washers individually, where would I go? Also, what is that washer on 2:39?
Do you have one now?
Bendix
excellent video i enjoy thanks
I also love the vintage porthole tv. Is it a Zenith as they are the ones that pioneered the porthole tv, and they think that pic ratio is something new ha. These tv's had this 60yrs ago, you had full screen or 4'5 with the pictured squared at the top and bottom. Plus these blended in with room funiture it wasn't black plastic square that's like a sore thumb for blending in.
the dishwasher and the unimatic are really nice... ;)

@@amandaisd He is doing amazingly well and I couldn't be prouder of him. He is a nineteen year old freshman Dean's List student at college studying automotive technology. He has always loved taking things apart and putting them back together, trying to figure out how they work. Over the years, what those things are has changed, but he just has a great mind for it. He told me when he was older that he loved watching washing machines so much because it quieted his mind, kind of like a zen garden. He still gladly helps with the laundry, but it's a lot harder to get him to help with the folding! lol
