sly 3 is my personal favourite, the variety of the gameplay makes it a bit better than 2, even tho i love sly 2 for the story i think sly 3 has something more to show and the cooper vault, one of the best gaming moments in my teenager life
I would agree with this video but Sly 2 has one flaw that prevents me from ranking it best: there is no way to replay missions unless you reset your save file or use cheat codes to replay an entire episode. I think that really hurts its replay value and I find it an odd omission considering Sly 1 and 3 both let you instantly replay jobs. Then again I only had the PS2 versions, perhaps Sanzaru fixed that in the port?
To me rumble down under was my least favourite episode in sly 3. I mean dead men tell no tales was by no means perfect, but at least it had a compelling villain with LeFwee. The mask of dark earth wasn’t very compelling at all Carmelita was shoehorned in at the last minute to give us a proper boss fight. A Cold Alliance is by far my favourite episode. General Tsao was downright ruthless! As Sly put it, “you sir, are the worst!”
Sly 3's story is good and the majority of levels are pretty solid. I just wished they took time and added more things to do in the open world. Clue bottles, treasures, collectibles, etc. Anything to make me explore and appreciate the episode's open world more. Most of the time it feels like I just rush to the missions rather than taking the time to survey my surroundings. Other than that this game was pretty outstanding considering its short development time of 1 year. I just wish it got more time in the oven.
@@D_an_ I like that Sly 3 gives you the option to replay missions but you're definitely right. Collectibles like the bottles would've helped to fill out the hub worlds.
the settings in sly 2 had this vibe that i wasn’t supposed to be there. it felt intimidating as a kid to walk around the streets, hiding from guards. sly 3 was fun at times but it didn’t have that uninviting vibe to it. the settings were more colorful and bright, to an extent. i feel like for a thief character, there should be a feeling that he isn’t supposed to be there, and he isn’t welcome which was accomplished imo in sly 2
Sly 2 is just an experimental version of sly 3. However Sly 2 helped me realize I have emotional trauma because the writing got me thinking about deep things as a nine year old. Sly 2 was the reason I started taking depression medication. Sly 3 never did that for me and for that reason only 2 is empirically better than any game ever made.
People get on Sly 4's case for being too silly, but if you think about it, that game was just following Sly 3's footsteps, and I think the reason why so many of us aren't a fan of how the tone was handled in 4 is because we were expecting it to be more like 1 and 2, not 3.
At first I thought Sly 3 was my second fav after 2, but I now find 1 my second fav after 2. While 3 did follow 2's refined gameplay and expanded upon it, it also cut content such as hidden treasures and bottles, it added new characters which worked like Bentley and Murray did in 1 for only specific sections but they also nerfed Bentley in order to give most of these characters purpose, it was also shorter than 2 and some of the chapters and even villains were lackluster for an example the Australia chapter and giant Carmelita, not to mention they also gave Carmelita a less compelling voice actor. A good thing it did was the way it wrapped up the story but honestly I feel they rushed the whole retirement thing with Sly, it has only been 3 games and most of their feats was stealing back what was theirs, taking down a threat and a returning version of it which was more of a heroic thing not actually criminal, and with them growing as better thieves before throwing in the towel way too soon.
i disliked how there wasnt a online blackmarket, i loved venice and i liked holand (i think it was) but the other maps were kinda mid to just not enjoyable. i mean Sly had banger after banger with paris to the palace to the jungle and even the castle in europe map was good, the 2 canada maps were alright. sly 3 with the pirate map had its moments, the mini games were fun like flying and hacking but it felt like it went backwards in some ways.
I think 3 was shorter than 2 because of the Dead Men Tell No Tales level. It was like the size of 7-8 levels. Though, Sly 2 was supposed to have an extra level for Dimitri set in Monaco so it sucks we didn't get it. That being said, for me Sly 2 > 3 > 1. Never played 4.
Number 3 was my favorite as a kid haha I still love 2 , 1 is the most boring to me although it was still great , and I don’t remember much from 4 but I remember it was pretty fun .
Personally the only thing I didn’t really like about sly 3 was that it didn’t have a proper villain gang. It made everything feel disconnected and each episode seperate to one another which does work. Thieves In Time did make up for that, but they don’t even have a name for the group. Lazy writing in all honesty!
My order in terms of replayability is: Sly 1 and Sly 2. Sly 3... I haven't played Sly 3 in a while and wondered why I never beat it, but then I saw that board game and the pirate minigame and it all came back to me... Sly 3 starts off so strong though and Sly 3's multiplayer is UBER fun.
I think that in my ranking it’s Sly 2 Sly 4 Sly 1 and then last Sly 3 I love them all but Sly 3 has tedious missions and but first 3 or 4 episodes are good and so is the Pandaman one but I am not a massive fan still love the sly series my 3rd favorite gaming franchise
I liked 1. It felt much more video-gamey, and I appreciate that. As a kid I did like the mini games of 3, kind of like how I was into the mini games of Spyro 3. Funny how in both series, these days I think the second one is the best. I'd rank the Sly series 2, 1 and then 3. Never played 4, I had an Xbox 360 during 7th gen.
4 could have been great if the original devs had their field day with it. but between art style change, and serious gameplay changes that almost EXPANDED on the worst parts of 3, i would say it is easily seen to be the worst in the series
Sly 4 was definitely more fun to play as far as actual gameplay than 3. The ancestors themselves were more fun to actually play as than the extra characters in Sly 3, who were mostly relegated to being glorified minigames. People dunk on Sly 4 mostly because of story related issues.
Sly 4 was the worst and that's an inarguable fact. The only way sly 3 is the worst is if you consider sly 4 to be soooooo trash that it doesn't even count as a sly game.
I will say it’s my least favorite out of the original trilogy and there’s some things that kinda show, obviously 3 uses 2 as a base and doesn’t really change much, but they did pump the game in 11 months so understandable, I also think playable Carmelita in 3 is the same as her Sly 2 version with some changes though.
Sly 3 was actually my second favorite game in the series for a long time, basically just for the smoother combat, the story though now that I'm older and I look back on it, god was it a mess. It still better than Sly 4 by a longshot... Ranking them now as an adult I'd have to go Sly 2, Sly 1, Sly 3 and then lastly 4.
I remember not liking Sly 3 because it didnt have Clockwerk. I was obsessed with him as a kid. I also didnt like any of the levels that much and the lack of clue bottles ruined the game for me.
Ngl i didn’t know what you’d have to say ab 3 since i rlly enjoyed it. But god ur right ab the pirate levels. Genuinely almost made me quit . Hate the slow and boring pirate fights they FORCE u into every 5 seconds . I see the vision they tried to go with and it’s a cute idea but not fun . Especially when I’m someone who enjoys sly parkour and fights more than RC cars and missions that are shoved into every inch of the game
Hate ti say it but my rankings are 1.Sly2 2. Sly 3 3.Sly 4 4. Sly 1. The only reason Sly 1 is last is because of the old different game play. I liked the open world in the others.
I agree with absolutely everything expect what you said about blood bath bay. Yeah i agree the missions suck but as a hub world it's the best in the game imo
My only problem with sly 3 is that they finished it quicker than expected and therefore had extra time to polish it. Yet they decided to go ahead and release it.
Sly 3 ranks second only cause it took away the heist elements that made Sly 2 excellent. Really the only parts of 3 I liked was the Dogfighting and Ship Battles
i feel like sly 3 has a much more tighter experience no boss outstays their welcome, i get that in sly 2 each episode was supposed to be u stealing a piece of clockwerk, but they shouldve cut the episodes that didnt have a boss fights and the final episode couldce the cooper gangs parts vs. the claw gangs parts and neyla managing to steal from both gangs to become clock-la and the game wouldve had way better pacing also the cooper gang actually feels like a gang of friends in 3 instead of victims of circumstance putting up with each other and the vehicle sections in sly 3 r way better(except dimities diving levels, i really hate that movement is done with the face buttons instead of the toggle sticks and R2 and L2 being used to dodge right and left), sure the naval battles arent black flag levels of good, and the RC stuff is mindless at best, but Bentleys binnocucom being able to distract enemies is hilarious, and even damage them in late game is borderline OP, plus the plane sections r awesome, sure a little gimmicky since its only for 2 missions, but a good time none the less, also having more characters felt like i wasent doing the same stuff every level, like hijacking guards as the guru, or shooting fireworks at vampires as panda king, or even using murrays ball form to kill enemies even though punching them fails tar ball, which, i find hilarious compared to the turret and RC sections of the 2nd game, the 2nd games "alternate levels" lets call them just outstay their welcome and r WAY too punishing, sometimes needing to basically restart the level no matter ur progress, idk in sly 2 they happen so sparingly that it almost feels gimmicky when vehicle/turret levels do show up the hacking in both is equally good, though i think there being a hacking boss in a cold alliance was awesome, i dont remember if there was a hacking boss in sly 2, if only i could replay levels to check... i actually cant understate how much being able to replay levels has impacted my enjoyment of sly 3(like i feel like being able to replay levels in sly 3 was the main reason i always like sly 3 over 2), plus the master thief challenges wr awesome and genuinely challenging and not in a BS gimmicky way the alternate levels in the 2nd game wr, and then getting developer commentary as a reward is always sick it does suck that they took out clue bottles, and the majority of the missions taking place in the overworlds themselves exploring as ur go through the mission, defiantly made up for that, sure u wrnt doing it for ur own curiosities sake, or for special moves, but its nice that the overworlds arent just hubs for missions, for the most part theres also multiplayer in 3, which is underwhelming, sure, but its cool that i can play with friends, if i could convince them to play sly copper with me... granted 1 thing i do like about sly 2 is the treasure system where u have to go back to the safehouse to sell ur pickpocketed items, it made pickpocketing feel more like a big bucket of thousands of coins splashing into ur pool(as well as the treasure items in the overworld and at the end of some missions) instead of sly 3s instantly getting money for pickpocketed treasure feeling more like droplets into that bucket, granted thats totally a preference and probably a psychology thing, but getting a bunch all at once after an hour of pickpocketing feels like more than that same amount over the course of an hour of pickpocketing, but i really think this is the only thing sly 2 did better than sly 3
My biggest gripe is that there is so little platforming compared to Sly 1 and Sly 2 (and even Sly 4!) for the reasons you just mentioned… too much non-traditional platforming gameplay. In addition, Sly 2 made you FEEL more like a thief. In Sly 3, besides an Opera of Fear and Cold Alliance in parts, it didnt feel like you were being sneaky at all. And of course, just the tone is too silly. Not as bad as Sly 4, but definitely more than Sly 1 and 2
Sly 3 is like as crash bandicoot 3 Way too many minigames/vehicle levels, wich differ from the core platforming gameplay like a teletubby in a cracks house. But then there's Tit (thieves in time) wich is simply stupid in so many aspects that I couldn't even list them all.
Growing up Sly 3 was the better game to me because haha weee plane go shoot shoot bang bang but now that I’m older I look at Sly 3 as adding too much it could chew. Sly 2 was badass cause you did setups and eventually the heists to stop the villains, even with the twist at the end being kinda ass the story telling in Sly 2 kept me more invested. Now what do we have in Sly 3…..A mask that attaches itself to people…..wtf were they thinking💀
Sly 4's my favorite. Yeah it's ridiculous and the characters are used willy-nilly, but it breathes that sense of varied gameplay that has me keep looking forward to who I get to play as next. Also you get to play as Carmelita and they made her fun.
Dayum, I think Sly 3 has some of the biggest highlights out of the first 3 games but also the worst moments. I hated rowing as Murray, the first episode was mostly boring and the planes/shark stuff sucked at the end. But I thought the pirate stuff was pretty cool and didn't look ugly.
What's with Mascot Platformers 3rd games being filled with "Wacky exciting new gameplay styles times 10". The only game i know of which doesn't do this is Ratchet & Clank 3, and that's because the devs had to add multiplayer to it, because of a contract with Sony.
Yea, Sly 3 ranked 3rd for me. Only reason the 1st game is lower is just because of how old the game is (therefore less features such as an open map etc...) Sly 2 and even Sly 4 are better
I can't believe you didn't mentioned that if you aren't a native English speaker sly 3 pirate level is impossible to finish because the dialogue options change and you have to get 4 or 5 options right, I love sly but holyshit fuck that mission man
Sly 3 had a lot of very fun moments and a great story. However, some of the parts were just mediocre, particularly the part with the pirate ship, which got old quickly. In the middle, it really started to deviate from what made the first two so good, but then the part with the Cooper Vault was redeeming. I did enjoy Theives in Time, but it was definitely the weakest in the series.
Sly 2 do be objectively better, not sure if even as a kid I liked Sly 3 over 2, but I don't mind Bloodbath Bay that much. The 2nd stage is the worst one. Fucking ugly brown everywhere and the missions themselves are ass. Aside from the bar one.
thank u for 10k views
sly 2, 1, 3, collection, hackpack, that one commercial, sly 4 in that order
Welcome
Sly 3 was really fun
Best one in the series. The story came together relatively well in 3. 4 just threw it all out the window for me and I didn’t bother finishing it.
sly 3 is my personal favourite, the variety of the gameplay makes it a bit better than 2, even tho i love sly 2 for the story i think sly 3 has something more to show and the cooper vault, one of the best gaming moments in my teenager life

They did not fix it… a criticism of mine as well
11 year old me playing the pirate ship fights for hours (it was fun)
sly needs a revive
Enough fans want it all we have to do is continue to bully Sony to make it
ikd how people can dislike 3 when is the conclusion of the story and incorporation of the gang t-t
To me rumble down under was my least favourite episode in sly 3. I mean dead men tell no tales was by no means perfect, but at least it had a compelling villain with LeFwee. Agreed! The fandom hates on 4, but it doesn’t deserve the hate it gets

I agree that Sly 2 is the better game, but Sly 3 has its pros such as replayable missions, power-ups, multi-player, and challenges.

jak 3 suffered similar problems, the curse of being the third entry of a ps2 mascot platformer franchise i suppose
SLY 3 WAS FUN
My only problem with sly 3 is that they finished it quicker than expected and therefore had extra time to polish it. Yet they decided to go ahead and release it.
Sly 3 ranks second only cause it took away the heist elements that made Sly 2 excellent. Really the only parts of 3 I liked was the Dogfighting and Ship Battles
i feel like sly 3 has a much more tighter experience
no boss outstays their welcome, i get that in sly 2 each episode was supposed to be u stealing a piece of clockwerk, but they shouldve cut the episodes that didnt have a boss fights and the final episode couldce the cooper gangs parts vs. the claw gangs parts and neyla managing to steal from both gangs to become clock-la and the game wouldve had way better pacing
also the cooper gang actually feels like a gang of friends in 3 instead of victims of circumstance putting up with each other
and the vehicle sections in sly 3 r way better(except dimities diving levels, i really hate that movement is done with the face buttons instead of the toggle sticks and R2 and L2 being used to dodge right and left), sure the naval battles arent black flag levels of good, and the RC stuff is mindless at best, but Bentleys binnocucom being able to distract enemies is hilarious, and even damage them in late game is borderline OP, plus the plane sections r awesome, sure a little gimmicky since its only for 2 missions, but a good time none the less, also having more characters felt like i wasent doing the same stuff every level, like hijacking guards as the guru, or shooting fireworks at vampires as panda king, or even using murrays ball form to kill enemies even though punching them fails tar ball, which, i find hilarious
compared to the turret and RC sections of the 2nd game, the 2nd games "alternate levels" lets call them just outstay their welcome and r WAY too punishing, sometimes needing to basically restart the level no matter ur progress, idk in sly 2 they happen so sparingly that it almost feels gimmicky when vehicle/turret levels do show up
the hacking in both is equally good, though i think there being a hacking boss in a cold alliance was awesome, i dont remember if there was a hacking boss in sly 2, if only i could replay levels to check... i actually cant understate how much being able to replay levels has impacted my enjoyment of sly 3(like i feel like being able to replay levels in sly 3 was the main reason i always like sly 3 over 2), plus the master thief challenges wr awesome and genuinely challenging and not in a BS gimmicky way the alternate levels in the 2nd game wr, and then getting developer commentary as a reward is always sick
it does suck that they took out clue bottles, and the majority of the missions taking place in the overworlds themselves exploring as ur go through the mission, defiantly made up for that, sure u wrnt doing it for ur own curiosities sake, or for special moves, but its nice that the overworlds arent just hubs for missions, for the most part
theres also multiplayer in 3, which is underwhelming, sure, but its cool that i can play with friends, if i could convince them to play sly copper with me...
granted 1 thing i do like about sly 2 is the treasure system where u have to go back to the safehouse to sell ur pickpocketed items, it made pickpocketing feel more like a big bucket of thousands of coins splashing into ur pool(as well as the treasure items in the overworld and at the end of some missions) instead of sly 3s instantly getting money for pickpocketed treasure feeling more like droplets into that bucket, granted thats totally a preference and probably a psychology thing, but getting a bunch all at once after an hour of pickpocketing feels like more than that same amount over the course of an hour of pickpocketing, but i really think this is the only thing sly 2 did better than sly 3

What's with Mascot Platformers 3rd games being filled with "Wacky exciting new gameplay styles times 10". The only game i know of which doesn't do this is Ratchet & Clank 3, and that's because the devs had to add multiplayer to it, because of a contract with Sony.
Rayman 3 should've been a honorable mention in this comment
Yea, Sly 3 ranked 3rd for me. Only reason the 1st game is lower is just because of how old the game is (therefore less features such as an open map etc...) Sly 2 and even Sly 4 are better
Sly 3 would be a lot better if panda and Pen where the only payable ones. And the rest are just story.
And have those two at the front of the story.
unhinged take
@@vettii there’s still members of the gang. You just don’t play as most of them.
I can't believe you didn't mentioned that if you aren't a native English speaker sly 3 pirate level is impossible to finish because the dialogue options change and you have to get 4 or 5 options right, I love sly but holyshit fuck that mission man
I liked the looting in the pirate world
I AM THE ONE WHO LIKES SLY 4
Nope, there are plenty of fans who like 4, just ignore the toxic ones among the fan base.
3 is better than 4, always
tihs video is not long enough needs to be at least 3 hours
Na bro sly 4 did it’s thing 😭😭😭 I can’t believe you bro
I’ve only played half of sly 4… how much am I missing out?
yeah the original three are all more fun
I liked all the sly games. I miss it
I would agree until u say Holland is bad 🙃
Sly 3 felt bit like rushed but its still pretty good
Well it was in fact, rushed
Sly 3 had a lot of very fun moments and a great story. However, some of the parts were just mediocre, particularly the part with the pirate ship, which got old quickly. In the middle, it really started to deviate from what made the first two so good, but then the part with the Cooper Vault was redeeming. I did enjoy Theives in Time, but it was definitely the weakest in the series.
Bro went from "no opinions just facts" to drop the worst, most biased game review ever 😭💀
I loved Sly 3 as a kid never played the first 2 might give them a look.
Defintiely give them a look, they hold up well. Each game gives a unique experience, but i think if you liked 3 you’ll like them all
Sly 3 is my favorite ps2 game ever
The 'hate' for Sly 4 baffles me when the worst Episode of the series is in Sly 3.
I love sly 3
Sly 2 peaks at the beginning while sly 3 peaks at the end and sly 1 is mostly consistent the whole time
@@MILDMONSTER1234 I'd swap 1 and 2 for peaks. 3 peaks at the end but only after the nosedive of the previous episode.
@@qwerty77772 Cant relate, i think 2 drags near the end and the final level is kinda ass even if the ending itself is good.
BASED@@MILDMONSTER1234
bro cap x100000
I love all the slys
Sly is the crash 3 and Spyro 3 of the series
I’ve just started to play the sly games… is sly 3 just mass effect 2?
@@linnx7826 idk it's good
People hated sly 4? I really liked it its the best next to 2 in my opinion but okey i guess
While I respect your opinion, I personally LOVE Sly 3! ❤❤❤
Was?! Ouch!
New Sub! I liked the Sly Cooper 3 and all Sly Cooper Games are awesome. 1:26 This is my list and to me all that is S
Lol great video love the nacho libre music
We? You must be speaking french
Sly 3 is my favorite
Make a vid on jack and daxter
1:01 wtf
Yap Yap Yap. Sly 2 was the best. Sly 3 is 2nd. Sly 1 is 3rd place because Sly 4 was REALLY THAT BAD. Okay done 😊
i highly disagree with this i thought sly 3 was pretty great
i like it too!
3 is last for me, Horrible, 4 and 2 are tied, I love 1 but not as good as 2 and 4
Man now I wanna play 4.
@@lively_n_wiseI think 4 is arguably the best experience and sly 2 is the best overall, just wish sly 4 had a Paris overworld
Sly 1 was the worst
Just straight up hating and yapping
Sly 2 do be objectively better, not sure if even as a kid I liked Sly 3 over 2, but I don't mind Bloodbath Bay that much. The 2nd stage is the worst one. Fucking ugly brown everywhere and the missions themselves are ass. Aside from the bar one.
I like sly 4
Yeah, stick to this stuff, leave the anthropology to Robert. kid
