Regarding the removal of sticky price tags... sometimes after removing the sticker you're left with that annoying gummy residue still stuck / smeared on the item. My trick is to simply use a small spray of oven cleaner... wait a minute or two, and it cleanly wipes right off. Using products like Goo-Gone or similar leaves behind a greasy feel and a gasoline-like odor... the oven cleaner leaves nothing. Oven cleaner works best for gummy residue on metal, plastics, glass, and ceramics. I wouldn't use it on wood, cardboard, or paper items as it'll just soak in. I hope this tip helps others! 😁👍
Merry Christmas, thanks for sharing. I would suggest a new seller buy a scale with a corded (detachable) screen. So when you have a box on the scale you can easily see the weight.
I use 99% Isopropyl Alcohol to clean stuff. I sell alot of media and I use it to get marker and stickers off of the cases. I use a q-tip and it doesn't hurt the items as it dries very quick.
I use brown packaging tape when I wrap bubble wrap items. Makes it easier for the buyer to see and remove. I also save big flat sections of cardboard boxes. ( I do collision repair) I always come across big boxes. And if needed I make my own size boxes. I also like to use gummed tape with a dispenser. Very nice tool to have. It’s water active tape. You dial the machine to what size tape you need pull the lever and cuts the tape to the size you selected. One last tip I forgot to post. On eBay custom label I put the location of the item, how much I paid for the item.
@@shedflipsyeah i worked in retail i was a price/ scanning coordinator manager and we used those scotty peelers when we had to remove the old price tag to put up a new one & they made things alot easier
Should use the stretch wrap to hold book bundles together....rather than having to figure out what belongs with what at time of sale. Happy Christmas to your family from NZ
My tip is for people who sell plush and hats, mostly for people working out of a storage unit. I hung a lightweight hammock from the wire ceiling for the plush and clothes lines and clothes pins to hang the hats so I could utilize all the space above the areas that don't have shelving (above my shipping and photography areas as well as above the walkways) I had that would usually not be usable. Also I added a similar bubble wrap holder like yours to mine as well.
Goo Gone applied with a Q-tip is good for stickers on plastic like the game case, glass, books with shiny covers; it's greasy so can't be used on paper, cloth, etc. I like the other Scotty tool for some things, the metal one that's thinner.
Acetone is often the main ingredient in Nail Polish remover. Buy larger cans in the paint dept, it’s often cheaper then Polish Remover. For the Goo Gone style products some are citrus based and seem to cause less damage then those that are chemical solvent based.
I use a measuring tape and photograph the measurements of items in my pictures. Not all clothing brands have the same measurements for a size. I've found that out from my purchases and when I started selling, I didn't want buyers to get something too small.
I use quite a lot of 1/16" and 1/32" packing foam (I use it more often than bubble wrap, at least for small and light items). It's also great to slip a little inside a movie or game case to stop the disc from bouncing around and coming loose in transit. I get a lot of positive feedback for doing that.
@@shedflips I get them from Staples here in Canada, but we can buy them in individual rolls here. It looks like the US site might require you to buy them in bundles which would take a LONG time to get through and be annoying to store. Uline carries them as well, but also require you to buy them in bundles.
Me to @flipstics4270. I always get great reviews for my shipping on media items. Most of time I will ship my dvds in boxes, but to bring weight down and ship it Ground Advantage instead of media I save cardboard scraps to help protect the cases.
Photo Prop Hack: when I film hollow items like purses, tall boots and hats (before I had a foam head) I would use a ball or wad of void fill brown crumple paper to fill out the item to make it stand up in the photos. I think all such items look better without the “slouch” that happens when tall boots fold over or purses lay limp. When I’m done with that group of pics, I use that paper for packing and grab another next time I take photos. Another great video guys!
Just starting this fun business so all these tip are a gold mine for helping us as we get our storage unit ready to be full time inventory storage, thank you for all the tips and encouraging videos
As far as tape dispensers, i use a handheld style that doesnt have a handle. I have a desktop one too but i rarely use. Ebay had 3in branded tape for a short time, bought a 3in dispenser and then they stopped offering the tape lol.
I absolutely could not/would not do ebay without my canister of multi-surface disinfecting wipes (Clorox Scentiva is my fave). They work great on all my dirty glass, ceramic, metal and plastic thrift shop finds. An additional expense, but so convenient compared to wet paper towels or running to the kitchen sink.
One note, don't forget Dollar Tree has great items to use as props, boxes, and bags, etc I bought a bookholder/plateholder, and jewelry holders, to show, well, books, plates, cards, jewlery, etc, for $1.25 each! You can't beat that!
Love my jewelry organizer too for smalls. I am a small store but I also use a closet organizer with 5 compartments that hangs on a rod. Works great for small clothing items.
Pool noodles, and painters tape....(especially good for wall art... from corner, diagonal, lattice pattern....if glass breaks, this can save the picture).

Scotty Peeler: as an alternative to the Scotty Peeler, I often use a Single Edge loose Razor Blade to do the same job. I opt for the style that is rectangular and fits into the common utility scraper. They are very thin, so they slide under the label easier then a Scotty peeler, when used at a low angle. They are made with 1 sharp edge and the backside has been thickened, making them easier to hold. They can be used in the scraper tool, but I tend to just use them loose and keep them on hand near my heat gun and Goo Off.

A couple of reasons. If a potential buyer has a question about an item, we don't have to unpack it to verify any info we give them. Also, I feel it's best to lay eyes on the item one last time before it's shipped.
PRICE TAG REMOVAL: Greetings Candace & Lonnie, I have been selling for over 30 years and the way I remove price stickers is by using lighter fluid. PLEASE keep in mind if the tag is very old it may not come off! You may damage the item, in over 30 years I have only messed up less than 10 items. It happens! I mainly use this method to remove tags from LP Records, but I use it on all kind of items! You just need to use your better judgement and decide if you want to take the chance! The main point is to TAKE YOUR TIME and work slowly for the best results... Thank you for your content!

Another great video. Thanks. I sell numerous vintage items, and I find painters tape very useful in several ways. Also, a lint brush can be useful for quick sweep of hats/material. A clear shot glass can be a good prop to put items at eye level and hold them in place.

Good evening Lonnie and Candice great video as usual Merry Christmas
I have question about your bubble set up with when you tare it off..do you the bubble wrap over the roll or under the roll...have great night Merry Christmas looking forward to your next video
We have it going under so that it hangs down against the wall and not over the edge in the way. I hope you had a merry Christmas!
A thermal printer has changed my eBay life. 😝
Thanks for this video. While I listen to your videos, I don't always write all this stuff down. This gave me incentive to make a shopping list and if I misplace the list I can come back to this video.
Another great video. Thanks. I sell numerous vintage items, and I find painters tape very useful in several ways. Also, a lint brush can be useful for quick sweep of hats/material. A clear shot glass can be a good prop to put items at eye level and hold them in place.
I like the idea for the shot glass! Sometimes a battery is not heavy enough.
Great info. Thanks
Thanks!
Where are you hiding that shrink wrap!? My tape...four inches.
I'm not understanding your question.
Great video
Thank you!
No man has never said he didn’t wish he had an extra inch of tape
