Hello from China 🇨🇳 My husband and I have been teaching in China for 5 years now. We're always looking for fresh ideas, so....thanks for yours. Very useful. Thank you ⚘️ 😊
I am doing demo class tomorrow to get more students for the company! I already covered some of your tips and yes it is working great for me! Big fan here!
Thank you @MooncakeEnglish. I have been teaching ESL for 12 years and to this day, I STILL get nervous about demo lessons! Sometimes it's "What material is appropriate for this level/age group?", while other times it's finding a fun and memorable game/activity to do. However, I'm beginning to venture into demo classes for adults, so it's more challenging finding age appropriate activities that aren't just "head shoulders knees and toes". It would be awesome if you could do a video for activities geared towards adult ESL students.
I laughed a lot at the beginning of the video, you described me today after the HR called me for the interview, Iam so confused as the vocabularies are new for me and the Demo will be for adults, " to be noted English is not my native language". How ever I hope I will practice until tomorrow (the demo) and to have the chance to tell you what I did :), wish me luck !
@@MooncakeEnglish It went well thanks. It wasn't as serious as a corporate teaching job, but I still get nervous for these damn demos, even though I've been teaching for years. Lol! Thanks for asking, and your channel is a life saver. Like 99% of the nonsense they teach you in these teaching courses are worthless, though your advice is always practical & clearly tried and tested.
@@bobbooyse, I'm so glad it went well! Even after ten years I still get nervous 😂 I'm so glad you have found the channel so helpful, and I hope it can provide some inspiration as we move into the new year 😊

Hello from Kuwait.. I have a demo class tomorrow and I'm so nervous! Just came across your video right on time... And I'm making good use of everything you just taught here... Super excited I came across this.. You're my Hero already😍.. Thumbs up 👍🏽👍🏽

Oh yeah. My interview was scheduled yesterday. For a job in China. I was so prepared, but the tell me about yourself and what's your strengths and weaknesses question never came 🤣🤣🤣🤣. The questions were so unexpected I had to think fast. But am hoping for the best. Again, Thank you.

Thank You for this video. I have an interview in Japan as an ALT (Assistant Language Teacher) and for my second interview, they have asked me to prepare a demo class for 7-year-olds with no English language skills. I'm so nervous.
Hi Faridon, thanks for watching and welcome to the Mooncake community! Best of luck with your demo class, try not to get too nervous, you've got this 💪
I have watched certain videos on your UA-cam channel @Mooncake English. I have noticed that you are explaining things in a nice way but sometimes we need things to fix them with the help of some practical. Your lectures are good but please try to help teachers by demonstrating in a classroom. For instance, you are talking about a demo class then do a demo rather than explaining the teaching steps for a demo. Hope it will help your audiences to improve. I will also be looking forward for such awesome stuff on your UA-cam channel.
Hi thanks for watching and for the feedback! I have had a few requests to see classes on the channel but unfortunately it becomes quite complicated. I would need permission from the school and every child's parents to do so legally. If I could do that, there are still issues with UA-cam where content becomes restricted when kids are on camera. Both Mike's Home ESL and Muxi English have struggled with this. That said, they do still post their classes, so if you do need to see some live classes, do check out their channels they have some great ideas too! 😊
@@MooncakeEnglish thanks. Yeah I know Muxi from Pakistani. He is my friend on WeChat and I personally know him. He brings new ideas and concepts to help them improve their language skills. I am in ABIE now so let's see how this new place is gonna welcome me! UA-cam is banned in china so probably such content is usually avoided by many.
HELPFUL! I've stopped teaching ESL (in person) 4 years ago due to a rare Autoimmune disease. Followed by the pandemic, and mounting bills, I have to work and I do miss teaching kids! A lot had change because this time, it's online and I'm a bit camera-shy. Thank you for the tips. God bless!
Hi Dian, thanks for watching and welcome to the Mooncake community! Sounds like it's been a little tough lately, I hope things pick up soon ❤️ Transitioning to online can be tricky if you're used to teaching in the classroom but I hope the channel can help inspire some new ideas. For camera shyness, try filming yourself in front of the camera and get used to the feeling and seeing yourself on film. It feels weird at first but you can just delete it all if you don't like what you filmed. This process helped me get used to being on camera. Wishing you all the best! 😊
Thanks for watching and welcome to the Mooncake community! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video and got a laugh out of it 😊 Where in the world are you teaching?

Thanks a lot! It's very helpful!I have a question, for greeting part teacher should introduce herself first, and let kids repeating with instead of asking kids names directly. So teacher introduce herself later, then begin to ask kids names, right?
Hi Morgan, unless the students have a higher level of English, I actually don't recommend asking the students their names. It can take up a lot of time and it's very easy to lose students' attention because of how long it takes. If you can get students engaged with the lesson straight away you will make a faster connection and therefore give a better impression. Of course, if you ask a student to participate, you can ask their name, it's just not always the most productive way to start the lesson. I hope that helps!

Hi! Thank you for this informative video. I am actually expecting to have a demo class via Skype for a kindergarten class. How would I ace it? I hope you can share me some tips and tricks on how to do it successfully. Thanks!
Hi Doren, welcome to the Mooncake community! A skype demo class is very similar but a lot harder because you don't have the kids to prompt you. I think the interviewer will just want to see how you structure your class and the kind of games and activities you plan. Don't be afraid to explain the class and why you planned it that way so that they know your thought process. And don't forget to be energetic and friendly 😁 I actually have a video on how to ace a Skype interview, it's not demo class specific but it still might be helpful. ua-cam.com/video/adDO_OoQJYw/v-deo.html I hope that all helps!

Hi Dorcus, thanks for watching. and welcome to the Mooncake community! I'm so glad the video was helpful, where in the world are you teaching?
Actually, that's helpful thanks, but I have to send a video clip to the HR of the school as a live instruction! and because of the covid 19, the HR asks me to pretend that I am in the classroom for teaching. So, what do you think I have to do. I teach English and the grade is 5 the.
Please give me some advice to do that in my house and what I have to do to make it very good.
The duration is 5 minutes.
Hi Abood, I actually have some set up advice in my online teaching series. You can find it here: ua-cam.com/play/PLWnDxOCiXGiq85RYiM9_eMH93wznDuIi5.html I hope it helps 😊

And don't forget to be energetic and friendly 😁 I actually have a video on how to ace a Skype interview, it's not demo class specific but it still might be helpful. ua-cam.com/video/adDO_OoQJYw/v-deo.html I hope that all helps!

kind of like properties that we use to teaching student in order to make the learning session more fun.
Rizal Taufik Do you mean games and ideas to help plan your classes or more like worksheets and flashcards and other physical materials for classes? If you check out some of my game videos there are lots of different ideas to keep things interesting! I also have a a series all about phonics which I will link below. I am actually working on other materials for the Mooncake English website that Will also be available in the near future. I hope all that helps!
