- I got very tired of seeing videos where people piddle around for a few seconds, then one-hit-kill with fusion attacks. This video attempts to show TWEWY's combat a bit more realistically.

As someone who went from solo remix to the DS version, whoever came up with the original battle system, I want to meet them and agressively shake their hand

Yeah, now that you pointed it out, it's surprisingly easy to break the game, using fusion food.
You have to see for your own which pins you like the most and can uses. I try to use pins with many methods to activate. For example a pin with slash, a pin with slash and a pin to touch on a empty place.
It is important to move with Neku ( I concentrate only on him) and dash with him a lot. Hope this helps you a little and sorry for my bad english.

I've only played the switch version, so I'm curious on how you control the character on the top screen.
On ds you control the character on top using the d pad
with the dpad or the xyba buttons depending if you are right or left handed
Yep, a stylus in one hand to control Neku with touchscreen and the other hand holding the handheld taps either the directional pad or ABXY buttons to control partner on top screen. Both do the same thing so right or left handed players can still control top screen interchangeably. It takes awhile to get used to managing two characters on two different screens at once but you get better at it with practice.

I don't think I ever won a single battle in this game and just couldn't grok the system. In Neo, I find it way easier.
100% a better showcase of the combat. Whatever the fuck the other videos were doing I've got no clue. Good job
If you're interested in seeing the combat taken a bit more on the extreme, I have speedruns of bosses, FTA, and no damage fights, this game can be crazy and if optimised combat helps you be convinced to get it, or you just wanna see it, I got that
I always feel like I'm doing something wrong in this game. There's like, no way to move Shiki around... isn't there some way to keep her from getting attacked?
Later on you get the option to have your partners dodge by pressing down on the d pad
@@randomnom Seems like being able to dodge should be open from the start
by finishing a combo jumping or dodge/blocking with down, they have their timings, specially joshua who dodges and doesnt block
Actually, she is the most easies you can control with neku without getting hit. Every time she finished her combo makes her invisible for a lot of time(in a sense of i frame dodge from games).
No sadly it isn´t you can only attack with her.
how to have six pins?
Idk if you're still looking but there's pin slot upgrades in shops throrough the game. One is in 104 and one in shibukyu main store

I have played Final Fantasy 4, here's the difference. All of the battles in FF4 were somewhat challenging, and the final dungeon had challenging enemies. In TWEWY the fights are so UNCHALLENGING that you are expected to breeze through most of them to get a high rank

The change in difficulty just went from "Hard" to "Suicidal" just by going down "those" stairs ;-;
btw You're not supposed to move around Shiki, besides making her jump

Meh, I already beat the whole game months ago now. Wasn't even that good. The balance was all over the place, and all of a sudden out of nowhere the final boss is batshit insane difficult

i assume you didn't grind enough. its an rpg. you have to grind
