Love hearing insight like this. Kind of hilarious there are tons of big market watch channels, tons of opening channels, but nobody outside of oldschoolexpert ever even talks about stuff like this! I will drop a couple bucks here and there, I'm not in the market for spending hundreds of dollars on a single card / product but for those that are, this is amazing information.
You can go with the near mint copies I was talking about. They are usually pretty cheap for a lot of cards!!

@@Ruxin34 the OCG Cards are way more nicer than TCGs and there are also lots of valuable cards. For your beginning you can start with the Rarity Collection Premium Gold Edition Box, its not cheap but the cards looks amazing. SimplyUnlucky and CyberKnight opened them before, iam sure you saw that
Frazer Marko Japanese cards have amazing quality. I have almost ordered a box of that a few times
@@Ruxin34 yes especially for PSA grading are OCG Cards better than TCGs, easier to get PSA 10/9 Gradings.

I started playing yugioh and collecting yugioh when I was around 10 years (10 yrs ago) and holy crap I never realized how lucky I was that I kept care of my cards, I just started grading my cards, gem mint 10 seiyaryu, gem mint 10 shonen jump rare promos, etc... starting back up to collect and invest.

love your vids from morocco and happy birthday , always enjoy your vids and watch them as soon as they're out , i m 27 and lived the golden yugioh era , still got my old cards but they're pretty beat up , came back to yugioh this year after watching some videos from simple unlucky then found the old school expert channel then yours I started collecting again the first thing i bought was the legendary decks 1 and 2 just for the nostalgia It cost me 300 dollars from amazon cause i live in morocco with the shipping and stuff but the nostalgia was there, i advise people to buy those just to get you into the yugioh world again cause you'll get iconic monsters from it , then i bought the secret rare the dark side of dimensions movie box pulled some epic cards 4 blue eyes alternative dragon it was great and then started to buy singles and my road is still long but getting there , just wanted to share with you how i came back and things i started with keep up the great work and thank you for entertaining us in these hard times .

The right video at the right time! I started collecting yu gi oh! last month and I had literally zero cards. I started buying the movie pack secret edition and just yesterday I pulled two alternative white dragon in the same pack. Thank you for your advice :D

Sometimes I avoid getting certain TCG cards that are too expensive, so if I want a certain rarity, I buy TCG versions, Korean versions or even reprints. At the end of the day I got a version of the card I wanted.
But at the end of the day, you know deep down it’s not the real version .
@@christiancano8822 eh, it's the real thing to someone from other country. Don't get me wrong, TCG any day, but I collect ocg stuff too so it doesn't really matter.

I started playing when it started and had most 1st Editions doubles if not triples of the "cool" cards back then. Also some tournament cards when I was winning from our weekly local comic book shop tournaments. I still have it somewhere but need to look for them.

i probably buy singles from now on , about packs maybe i'll open it for buliding my deck and if i get lucky i'll definitely put them in the collection. currently im using an OCG Cubics and i probably switch to Masters Of Spritual Arts cause they're pretty good and i kinda loved dueling even i'd never duel before but i kinda into collecting too. thanks for the video man🔥🤘🤘🤘

It's true that we can't buy everything we want all at once and it's good advice to keep it slow. There are some that are almost impossible to find (PSA 10 TP3 Morphing Jar), or super pricey and unobtainable cards such as 1st ed LOB Blue-Eyes. Other than those godly high end cards, there is so much cool stuff to collect. I think it's fun to shop around for deals because you never know what you'll find. I'm a sucker for opening sealed product since it's so fun, but the prices for some things is insane. Booster boxes, blisters and special editions are definitely the way to go if you want to open old school products. Man, you have opened up so many epic old school products, and I enjoy you channel so much :)
It is also fun to search for cheap sealed product with good value/cool cards. There are still great sets to open at a fair price if you look around!

I already have some vintage cards from when I was a kid, and I want to complete then,my goal is to have only duel monsters stuff and keep the stuff that I already have that truly have some meanings i started selling my 5d stuff, and things that I dont really care about and start digging for the normal cards from the old school collections, cards like king fog, the spirit cards(inane white rabbit,tsukuyomi...) and things are going well, just sharing a little of my experience

Wise Digital Designs you can usually get them on ebay. If they have damage or have been tampered with then you can return them. But usually they are okay on ebay

Hi Ruxin! Love your work. I'm from Brazil and I'm starting a collection right now. I'm a nostalgic Guy, so i'm looking for the oldest card sets like LOB and Metal Raiders. I found a booster box from Korea but i have 2 questions:
1- How do i know if It is a real or fake Konami package?
2- How does the country of origin of the card affects on the "value" of the collection?

just wanted to add since things got crazy last year and going into this year, even damaged cards from OG sets in 1st edition are appreciating as well :D, deff not to the degree of graded cards or near mints tho
Great video! I got back into YuGiOh last year January. Started of with a few cards and now I have a binder which is almost full a year and half later which is worth around $1200.

For the really vintage ocg cards, think 1999 - 2000's, where would you suggest looking? Ebay is pretty hit and miss when it comes to older ocg quality cards

Another good tip is to look very carefully to the Edition of the card (european, unlimited, italian, spanish, asian english, korean,... or north American this is the best option)

Great advice!. I been building in reverse collecting all the old commons & rares 1st i do enjoy those more for nostalgia you know building old decks from scraps. I do buy holo's from card shops for close to nothing for unlimited's but they take awhile to update their stock for cards I'm looking for. Also pulled a Jinzo from legendary Collection centering seems alright sleeved it up asap, think it's worth sending in even tho it's not 1st ed!?

Yeah i centering seems good. Just like one or 2 nicks in the holo..so i would low ball an solid 8-9 forsure but cause of the nicks idk for 10 i always aim low you know so if it comes out higher, cool lol
best value imo is buying bulk collections from ebay from what seems like people selling there old collection who dont know the value. Before pandemic, i bought three yugiho tins(the og oners with mystery cards in it) and my god. I hit the jackpot, so many promos, 1str ed mrd and mfc, all bpts(2nd printing tho) andf they were like 7-9 condition, was kinda amazing. Rn I still have the 1st ed time wizard and i realllly wana grade it.

Just a small Question Ruxin since i´m new to the psa collecting myself...i found myself a dark lucius lv8 psa 10 gem-mt 1st edition for 100 dollar would that be a nice find or did i overpay for it? what would you say?
I so agree with you, I feel like because of the scarcity of sealed products and how expensive they are now, my experience with opening booster boxes most especially GX boxes is basically commiting financial suicide due to losing so much money from not pulling the ultimate rare of the big chase cards 😭 I agree with you and Yugiohtube in that just buying singles or graded cards save way more money than gambling in sealed products!!!
Some sealed products at least have a decent chance to make a lot or all of your money back. But GX is like 5% of the time you make your money back

Runix I have a question...I used to play and buy a lot of cards back when it started, but I stopped for many years until now, I still have a lot of old school cards and some really cool, anyway, I found on Meijer mystery power boxes with metal raider graded card 1 legacy pack and 4 booster packs, they're buy 1 and 2nd half price. 26 dollars regular price... Are those mystery boxes worth it , and are they a good investment for collecting??
Mystery boxes are not great for value. But I do love them. They don’t give the best stuff because they usually put some packs in there that they haven’t been able to sell. I used to buy them just because I wanted the vintage pack, but if you want the best value for your money I would say go with something else. But buy one get one half off isn’t a bad deal for what they are

I used to buy collections, keep what I wanted, and sell the rest to either get the keepers for free or at least for a much smaller outlay. Unfortunately, collections and binders seemed to have dried up on ebay over the last year, and people bid waaaay too high on absolute crap! I used to buy in multiple binders and joblots a week and have good success but I haven't had anything at all for at least 6 months now...

I had about $1200 I wanted to invest in vintage Yugioh, I said screw it and just put it all into 1 card. Got a PSA 4 graded LOB-001 First Edition (North American English). Holy grail of the collection in a more modest grade. If I ever want to resell or "cash out" it will be much easier with only one super recognizable grail card.

Yeah it can be scary!! Sometimes you will luck out and get a mint card too. But you can always get a refund if the card is in bad shape

We are buying some new product, but are completing sets by buying singles. I HATE singles. Hard to get NM cards because people list crappy cards as NM, but its better with the newer sets and we have several vendors we try to buy from! But new product.... its way cheaper to buy singles. Wish the starlights and collector rares aren't so high priced though

For me Gx was one of the best series. And GX has a lot of great cards, really a lot. Especially the ultimate rares are awesome ... BUT you should really never buy any box of it ... you must be the luckyest guy on the planet to pull a big card out of it.
You really do have to get really lucky. I think I have pulled 2 ultra ultis out of 24 chances in GX boxes

i wonder, can you explain the differences between north american and european prints? being european (UK) i wanted to collect european cards, but they seem to be worth a lot less. i also had no idea that some sets were changed entirely (heard something about LOB cards being in magic ruler somewhere?)
For the original sets euro are less valuable. But in GX ultimate rares are sometimes worth more in Euro print.
There were a few cards not printed in the European LOB, so they were put into Magic Ruler such as Pot of Greed and Flame Swordsman
I would generally agree with not buying loose packs, but I found this seller on ebay (pes9) who was putting up POTD, CDIP, RDS, and TLM (1st ed!!) packs for 20 dollars/10 packs (yup that's right, 10 packs for 20 bucks), so I couldn't resist and ended up buying like 100+ packs and ended up pulling some awesome stuff. I think I got really lucky though haha.
Yeah, he sells sneak peak packs super cheap because there is a massive surplus of those packs. But still an epic deal

Yeah, I dislike GX my self I was never really into it, I didn't even like the series either. I agree with you on singlye 💯 Percent. I just wish there were more card shops by me I only have one, as well as a GameStop, Target and Walmart.
