I really like these sketches because even though they're full of stereotypes and prejudices It's actually seen as progressive for it's time. All the comedy comes from the Dad failing at dealing with the situation not from the son being gay. The point is the Dad is *trying*
Luke Mills It’s like Alf Garnet in the 70’s. He was always having a go at black people and gays in his show but when a football fan met him once he said “I love your show mate! I love the way you always take the piss out of the blacks!” He replied “what are you on about? We’re not making fun of the blacks mate. We’re making fun of idiots like you! You’re just not smart enough to get the joke!”
@Luke Mills People will be offended by anything. But yeah this sketch is on the side of gay people, it's just a bit of fun. You can make fun of gay people and the people around them at the same time without any malice. Making fun of people's fear of gay people more than gay people themselves. Although there's a bit both in there, you have to joke about what makes up the world or you joke about very little.
I love your take on it man, so spot on. Some people would probably complain that this is offencive, it totally isn't. It's mocking people for being stuck in the past. It has a great message behind it.
