I grew up listening to Jimmie Rodgers, I think I knew all the words to most of his songs; I would belt them out while pedaling my balloon tired Schwinn. His songs were wholesome, fun and inspirational. I did not know he moved back to Camas. if I'd known, I would have gone to see him. He was one in a million, a part of my childhood, and he will be missed by many.
I'm only 30 and have loved this man's singing for many years. All of the performances that are still out there are overwhelming. I would pay money to have these full shows.
I sure hope & pray this documentary comes to fruition! I've ALWAYS loved this great man's music & talent. He was a real good actor also. Thanks for sharing this. :)
a joungster , me , in Germany , mid sixties , then later in England and eventually , in my late twenties in Holland i'd go out on a limb to get good music , on records as i unfortunately didn't have the chance for a music education : - one of my - still cherished - trophies , strangely Not-at-All mentioned on these Jimmie Rodgers videos ( although around on UA-cam ) has been his wonderful renditions of 'Western Songs' on "Twilight on the Trail" with the exceptional accompagnement by the Joe Reisman Orchestra ; Jimmie's voice and their combined 'artistry' lifted those - mostly popular 'tear-jerkers' - into the realm of the Great Art of Singing/Music . It is my pleasure that every-now-and-then i can still hear some of the more wellknown Jimmie Rodgers songs in 'our' local pub from across the table & coffee/beer/newspaper and/or chessboard , all in 2o21 !!!!!
Hanzlh6522. Thanks so much for your comment here about my father's work. I agree that the Twilight on The Trail Album is a musical highlight. If you have a moment, you also might enjoy his later work on A&M Records the albums Child of Clay and Windmills of Your Mind. Both are incredibly arranged and produced. Wishing you all the best. Michael Rodgers
What ever happened to the Swedish fellow Jimmie was working with to release all of Jimmie's music digitally? At one point I bought a file from him with all of the songs...organized by LP...all the Roulette and Dot LPs
We fought him legally for years until Jimmie died. He totally ripped Jimmie off and was selling stuff that did not belong to him and he had no rights to.
I just recently read his personal account of being stopped on his car when a thug reached in and hit him across his throat. Horrendous injury that he never fully recovered from. We loved Jimmy so much.
Actually a man dressed as a police officer pulled him over and beat his brains out literally with a pipe. Not the throat. He had to learn to walk and speak again all is functions and it left him with a throat condition. And other secondary conditions from brain injuries.
Is there any update as to when this will be released? There are hardly enough Jimmie Rodgers recordings to get me by, lol. One of my absolute favourite songs by him is “Secretly,” and I want to watch the full live version of it.
It is too bad these great live performances on video is being held hostage for big bucks by a company that will not sell to fans and collectors, so seeing them in their complete form as well as complete episodes of the 1959 Jimmie Rodgers Show is moot.
It's indeed a shame, I contacted the agency of Jimmie Rodgers about this (the person of this account) .. Jimmie is such a talented singer and there's so little content about him available on youtube. She clearly has the footage but does nothing with it.
@@sassygranny8450 Hi, I am Jimmie's son Michael. She does not have the footage and has no control over the release. The footage has been collected by various archives over the years with one of the largest selections at the UCLA Film & Television Archive. As you can imagine sorting through the thousands of performances and getting the music clearances is a daunting task. We are working on putting a collection together for release but it is taking some time. Thanks so much for your kind words about my fathers career and legacy.
@@michaelrodgers9419 Hey Mr Rodgers, I clearly was not very friendly in my comment. Sorry for that. So there's coming a collection, that's such a great news! Jimmie Rodgers has one of the greatest voices in music history, it really deserves more attention! :)
Thanks for posting this, great compilation of Jimmie Rodgers!!

R.I.P. Jimmie. We'll miss you.
This is great Katrina!
As a kid SECRETLY made a real effect on me. Jimmy Rogers vocal & the melody, amazing.
great reel!
Los coros en sus canciones me dan escalofríos, me gustan!!!
Interesting footage of some of his later performances. But nothing about after that. He passed away a few years ago.

@@KatrinaMacGregor wow! I had no idea about that...I'm very sorry to read that Jimmie was again abused by someone in the music industry.
