Having the gates down too long before a train comes is what causes people to get impatient and cross around the gates which leads to accidents. Happens all the time in the USA.

They tried three different models of Fiat 500 and made a little sports car with Mazda then folded up... No Qubo, no Panda, no Toro, no Strada nothing. Wow. They don't play around. That's the most ultra-super-extra-incredibly maximum safe railroad crossing ever. Over six minutes. That's like safe + some. Almost a middle finger in your face amount of safe.
It's probably mainly because tunnel derailments are some of the worst you can have, and with the tunnel opening onto a road they don't want to take any chances with having an accident there
We stopped with a long line of cars for a similar time period at a rail crossing in Sicily. On a more recent tour of Provence we had to stop and wait in a village street for 20 mins while a meat supplies truck was unloading at a butcher. I even went for a walk about the village taking photos while we waited. Different culture, people have less stress about time.
Those are some seriously patient cyclists. Hats off to them! From where i come, cyclists and pedestrians never wait at crossings when they are closed.😊

My first week in Italy I learned very quickly about respecting the railroads. Since most of the trains are electric, they are super quiet and they travel FAST!
I think I would have been slightly perturbed if I were there and waited all that time for two train cars. I’m amazed at how OK the bicyclists are with it.

I believe the timing needs some adjustment The gates need to close 45 seconds prior to trains approach....think a little upgrade with new sensors or timing trigger is a must! But the peaceful surroundings were nice. Birds singing the cyclist visiting seems real laid back. Shout out from S.W. Mo.
Eu era ferroviário, 7 minutos uma cancela fechada é muita coisa 😱😱😱. Na ferrovia que trabalhava era de 35 segundos calculado na velocidade que o trem passou sobre o sensor de velocidade, com certeza essa cancela deve abaixa no momento que o sinal foi aberto para o trem, e pelo visto fica bem longe dessa cancela . Mas tenho que dar os parabéns 👏👏👏 para os ciclistas pela educação de trânsito, mais realmente esse tempo todo induz as pessoas cometerem infração de trânsito.

The gates need to close 45 seconds prior to trains approach....think a little upgrade with new sensors or timing trigger is a must!

Eu era ferroviário, 7 minutos uma cancela fechada é muita coisa 😱😱😱. Na ferrovia que trabalhava era de 35 segundos calculado na velocidade que o trem passou sobre o sensor de velocidade, com certeza essa cancela deve abaixa no momento que o sinal foi aberto para o trem, e pelo visto fica bem longe dessa cancela . Mas tenho que dar os parabéns 👏👏👏 para os ciclistas pela educação de trânsito, mais realmente esse tempo todo induz as pessoas cometerem infração de trânsito.

Bit in that 6 minutes you'd never know if the train broke down or derailed 🤔 You could be there quite a long time 😐 Take pack up and plenty fluid and extra batteries for mobile or camera 😇 🤣
