- This is to show some of the finer details of the 600, mostly the trailer hitch. The fenders for the 600 are on the 750. The 750 fenders are on the 600. I use the 750 weekly, and rarely use the 600. Im currently trying to take 5 tractors, and make 3 that are reliable and fully functional. My goal is to have the 600, 750, and 1054, using the 1254 and 800 ( ??? ) for parts. I will need to swap parts from other models.
I like your Bolens tractors, we have a number of Bolens and post videos about them and out other garden tractors. Our 600 is a 180-01 and has a cast rear hitch too. We have a later 600 white painted parts tractor and that has a normal hitch, so I think it was only the gold 600's that had the cast hitch. I think you are right about the steering column, our 600 only has a throttle lever which is on the front of the column. I am not sure what model your other tractor is as it appears to have parts on it from a number of different models. We are still looking to try to find a dual wheel kit
Thank you for your expertise. I have watched your videos, too. Im learning as I go. I dont collect them, like You do. I'm planning on consolidating 5 tractors down to 3. 600, 750 ( with 10hp) and the 1050 ( probably swap out the engine to the 12hp tra-12d and rear end from 1254)
Except for the steering column (??) I do have the complete gold edition 600. I swap parts around different models, to keep them running and working, often. My first was the 600 because I needed the worm gear drive, and didnt know that they were the rare ones. Ive been upgrading, since then.
My biggest problems have been carb/ governor issues. I put a newer 10hp on the 750 for reliability and easy starting. it also has a back-up recoil starter rope. I dont have any good working generator/ starters.
My blue one, that we cant id, is a mix of models, but, will just be for parts, anyway.
I dont use my dual wheel adapters because they get in the way of my wheel weights, and rear lockout access. The adapters, I have to use a skinny wheel, then add a fat wheel, because of the length of the adapter. I cant do two 10.5 inch wheels because the adapter wont reach. I have not needed them, yet, and Ive only used them for parades. ( just for show )
Im in Missouri, USA. Let me know if youd like me to include the dual wheel kit, in a future video.
@@randombuilder01 We have had lots of problems with the carbs on Wisconsin engines despite spending a lot of time on them. As such we are thinking of putting a newer engine in one of our tube frame tractors too. One of our Ride-a-matics has a Honda engine which was in it when we bought the tractor and it tends to get used a lot due to the reliability. It would be interesting to see the dual wheel adapters, it is something we are thinking of making or buying. I have subscribed to your channel so I can follow along. It is interesting that you are in Missouri as we follow MissouriOldTimer who has Bolens tractors too. In case you had not realised, we are in the UK in the East of the country
@@GardenTractorBoy I'm not really connected to anyone, concerning tractors. In Missouri, or elsewhere. I just use the Bolens as tools. Occasionally, I try to share information, on videos.
Thanks for the feedback on the Wisconsin engines. Its the starter/generators, and rewinding the rope that gets old. The carb linkage seems like it is very sensitive and old. The TRA-12d is pretty good. The 10d, I just cant get it dialed in. Its not the physical engine so much as the accessories to the engine. The engines last, but the accessories don't. ( in my experiences )
I will make a video, soon, on the dual wheel hub adapters, and I will show my Briggs replacement engine that is very reliable.
I knew that you were not in USA. I assumed that I could not sell and ship any parts at a reasonable rate, because You are far away. ( like the dual wheel hubs )
I will explain more, and other possibilities, for hubs, in my next video, within a week.
@@randombuilder01 I am looking forward to following your videos. The Briggs replacement sounds interesting, we have a friend that has put a Briggs Vangard twin in a H14 and his main problem was locating a fuel tank. As we have so many American garden tractors we have setup up a forwarding address in Florida to enable us to import parts but it does get expensive for heavy parts. Our video which goes live on Saturday covers some recent imported parts for a 1960 Bolens ride-a-matic
