That week in January 1996 was particularly vicious. It was rare to have two big snowstorms so closely together, but that is exactly what happened that week. If you notice at 0:47, the eastern cities have "snow and wind", where Indianapolis has (lake effect) show showers.....Southwest Ohio had just been hit with a snowstorm that dumped 8-13" (Cincinnati broke a daily snowfall record with 12.8") across the area....then at 1:58 you see the snow icon for 1/11. That was the second storm that dumped another 8-10". I remember having 19" of snow over those five days - which was pretty significant.
That daily snowfall record for Cincinnati was from the upper level low that would merge with a coastal low and form the blizzard of 1996 for the east coast. Hard to forget that storm. I live just northeast of Philadelphia and got 36” of snow out of that storm.
The Weather Channel, when it was all weather, all the time, and nothing else. Turn it on, anytime of the day or night, weekdays or on weekends, and it's weather just the same.
I played this on my phone at midnight last year in my birthday month when it snowed and for a special valentines night as well lol and i was 17 man that was something best night ever!
@volcanofan The 2000s(specifically around the end of 2001) was the beginning of the end for alot of things, not only the weather channel. I don't watch the weather channel anymore because it has changed, and for the worst. Same reason I don't watch much of what comes on Nickelodeon. That channel has also taken a bad turn.
@volcanofan Gotta love these comments. 2000-2006 as part of TWC's heyday? Lawl Try 1989 - 1997. Since 2001 his channel has had NOTHING in common with what it was in the 90s.
dang i wish weather forecasts could be this relaxing and awesome today
The song is called Life by Trammell Starks.
David Burgess THANK YOU
Actually, the song is called 50 Below.
winter of 1995-1996 had the best music while listening to your local forecast
Nostalgia : )
I can see that exact snow, fortunately, as we documented it in photos.
My favorite theme and this was before my 7th brithday in 96
@Stoneone100 The music is by Trammell Starks, composed for TWC. He offers a 3 CD set of the music for $25 (at last check).

The day after the Blizzard of 1996.
Great uploads. The heyday of TWC , IMO.
It's all about WeatherNation. But I missed the old Weather Channel I've grown up with between John Hope, through Sharon Resultan.
