    The Reebok Legacy Lifter III is the latest weightlifting shoe to debut in Reebok's popular Legacy Lifter shoe line.
    This model, while being fairly similar to the Reebok Legacy Lifter II, has received some key construction updates. As a fan of LL II, I was excited to put the Reebok Legacy Lifter III to the test.
    In my Reebok Legacy Lifter III review, I'll cover all of the key details that you should know before investing in this model.
    0:00 Pros
    1:45 Cons
    3:50 Performance
    6:34 Price
    7:07 Who Should/Shouldn't Buy These?
    8:23 Sizing & Fit
    8:55 Weight, Heel Height, and Insole
    9:18 Construction
    10:39 Legacy Lifter II vs Legacy Lifter III
    13:37 Final Remarks
    Overall, the Reebok Legacy Lifter III is a fine weightlifting shoe that should work for most lifters and athletes.
    It's very similar to the Reebok Legacy Lifter II regarding its overall stability, versatility, and fit for different training contexts.
    Personally, I was hoping for most with the Legacy Lifter III and I think for an increased price point, the features should help improve performance a little more drastically.
    If you have additional questions on the Reebok Legacy Lifter III, drop a comment below or reach out to me personally via Instagram (@jake_boly or @that_fit_friend).

    I had the legacy lifter 2 and it was great for all the reasons you list even if it is heavy, I found that to be a plus in my training. As a 90's I was hoping the pump would be a good performance update and not a novelty. Loved the reviews. There seems to be a good range of quality lifters out there. I definitely like your top lifter video from a few months ago. I appreciate the content, Thanks.

    Currently shopping for my first weightlifting shoes. I hoped to find the Legacy Lifter II on sale somewhere but unfortunately there are no good offers available in Germany right now. The LL III sells around 160-170 so I might give it a try if the heel size of the Powerlift 5 is not enough. Looking forward to the Lifter PR III review. They seem to have a slightly bigger heel size than the Powerlift 5. Thank you for the reviews.

      Heels are about the same on the Powerlift 5/PR 3 assuming the height written on the outsole is correct (15mm).

    Thank you for all of the reviews, one of the best sources for weightlifting shoe reviews out there. I just ordered these for the equivalent of 159 dollars (I'm in Europe). I went for the black and blue ones but could have got them at 148 if I chose the colour in your review. Hoping the sizing will be ok, I chose 10 UK because that's what I am in most shoes. I went for 10.5 when I bought my Adidas Power Perfect 3's but i think that was only because people were recommending to half size up.

      @@thatfitfriend Will do! Also, just wondering how much of a noticeable difference do you find going from a shoe with the most common 0.75" heel height to 0.87", which I believe the Legacy Lifter's are? It's not as much as going to a one inch heel like the Adidas Leistungs and Anta shoes are, so just wondering do you notice the difference personally?

    • @thatfitfriend
      @thatfitfriend  9 місяців тому

      @@fuzzylogiceire It really depends, tbh! Some notice it more than others. For ex, I typically notice it more because of my limb lengths and squat pattern, but not everyone is the same so I don't want to say it's a huge concern for everyone.
      Def won't notice it as much as going to a 1" heel, imo

    • @fuzzylogiceire
      @fuzzylogiceire 8 місяців тому

      @@thatfitfriend Yeah, I'm still not totally sure whether I prefer flats or lifting shoes for squatting tbh. I use Vivo Barefoot shoes for deadlifts and have squatted in them. Depth has never been an issue, I think its moreso how the rest of my form looks, my level of uprightedness etc. I must run a direct A/B comparison on the same day sometime, maybe film myself also.
      As for the Reeboks, I have them now and have used them on three separate days so far. Fit seems ok, probably still breaking them in a bit, my Adidas took a while also at the start. Do you notice a kind of ridge in the feel of the shoe around midfoot? Kind of a groove? My Adidas feel flat in comparison around that area. The weight difference is noticeable, the Reeboks feel quite a bit heavier, both when you place them into your gym bag and when wearing them. Doesn't feel quite as smooth to adjust your foot position after walking out the barbell from the rack, more clunky and heavy feeling compared to my pair of Adidas shoes.

    I'm looking for a solid pair of squatting shoes to help with my poor ankle mobility and neutral-width feet. I found these and the adipower 3's for about the same discounted 30% price and am stuck between the two (just gonna stick with retail stores for now and just looking at the most current models). I am a high-bar squatter and just focusing on SBD, not really into weight lifting yet. What would you recommend between the two or would you have any other suggestions?

    Olympic-style weightlifter here: As someone who currently wears the Legacy Lifter 2, the changes made in the LL3s aren't remarkable enough for me to strongly encourage a current owner of a LL2 to buy a LL3. Realistically the LL3s seem more of a mid-generation update of the LL2s instead of a full-fledged redesign. That being said, I think the LL2s were a great shoe and as the saying goes, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." With the exception of the upper materials, stitching, and The Pump, the LL3 is literally the same shoe. On the plus side, Reebok continues to provide a fairly flat soled shoe compared to other current-generation weightlifting shoes where there is more forefoot rocker (Nike Romaleos 4, Antas 1 and 2, Adidas Adipower 4).
    When you said the LL3s are "a little bit gimmicky", I agree. The Pump only provides inflation in the tongue which *may* help create a sense of security in the midfoot...but that can be resolved by tightening down the laces or strap.
    Don't get me wrong, the LL3s are a great shoe and you should certainly get it if you're in the market for an Olympic-style weightlifting shoe. The biggest disappointment for me comes from the lack of change/innovation generation to generation.

    Coming from the Adidas Power Perfect 3, I switched to the LL3 because it strangely enough has more room in the toe box for me, at a smaller size (took out the insole in both shoes). I think I missed the massive sale Reebok had recently before launching this model, so I was unable to find any good deals on the LL2 in my size (EU 46/US 12) in Europe. Plus all the best colorways were only in women's sizing.
    I did however get a stupid discount (35% off) that made this not too bad. I actually find that the pump system helps with locking in the heel quite a bit, although it definitely is a bit gimmicky. Definitely wouldn't have gotten them for full price.
    My only main gripe so far is that the velcro strap seems too long for me. Wondering if that was a design choice because of the pump.

      Buying the LL3's also served as a damper on my desire to get the Tyr L-1's, haha. Given that those are 250-ish Euro's (no EU-retailer) and the risk + double the cost make it less appealing of an option. I envy your easy access to them.

      I had some long-form content on that topic here: thatfitfriend.com/deadlift-weightlifting-shoes/
      I also have a video discussing my opinions on this topic.
      It's sub-optimal for those contexts.
      Even the note on "quad development" above is sub-par, tbh. You're not going to use a deadlift for quad development so why put yourself into sub-optimal positions for negligible quad involvement when using weightlifting shoes? Seems like a waste of effort and you're better off using exercises that will better hit your quads versus using something for the sake of getting a "little more" potentially.
      For example, weightlifting shoes will translate your knees more forward due to starting the foot in plantarflexion, but will that tiny range of motion be worth it to justify for quads and generally worse pulling positions if you're wanting to get the most out of your dead?

    • @TxFitSolutions
      @TxFitSolutions Рік тому
