Discovered Ned Doheney on Spotify after it popped up on my Discover Weekly, which mostly consists of today's indie music. So when it came on, I thought to myself, "This is so retro; this Ned Doheney got that 70s sound down right to a tee." Loved it so much I had to check out the whole album. Then realized it was because I listened to David Cassidy. How he passed me by after so long is beyond me. Amazing albums. All of them. Phenomenal songwriter. Production was outstanding as well. Cassidy made the best version of his song, IMO. Ned definitely deserved more acclaim than was given to him. I hope any unreleased recordings from that era, if any, come out one day. Not everyday you find an artist whose music is consistently good throughout the whole album. Job well done, Ned.

Todd Nicholson There’s a double LP that was released on Numero records called ‘Separate Oceans’ that features unreleased recordings from around the Hard Candy time. It’s awesome 👍
I am amazed that I’ve discovered this artist today. I love 70s and 80s music. I thought I knew the main artists of those eras. But here it is this hugely talented man. The way he plays and sings.... it’s first class. How can that’s be possible?
I never heard of Ned Doheny until recently when clicking a David Cassidy video of Darlin' with Flo and Eddie.Down the yt rabbit hole and I'm much richer for it. This song is amazing, and the funkified and discoed versions prove how solid it is. Anybody know of a countrified version - would love to hear it.
Bad drummer? That's Gary Mallaber One of the most sought after session players in the music business with a resume a mile long of stars he's recorded with (wiki look) He's grooving just fine, btw. What we have here is Doheny recording a rehearsal. Nothing more
Gary Mallaber is a fine player. His pocket/feel is so good. The rest of the band took a moment to lock in with him; but once they got going, the feel is great. His work with Van Morrison, Steve Miller, Eddie Money, Bruce Springsteen (not the E Street Band)etc...
He’s always smiling when playing cause his backing bands are always fucking superb musicians
