This is chapter 4 of NCERT Geography Class 6 Textbook titled MAPS where I have discussed the different types of maps like physical maps, political maps, thematic maps ,plan etc. These different maps are designed for a specific purpose for example the physical map shows geographical reliefs like mountains, rivers, deserts, plateaus etc. whereas political maps show boundary of countries, states and cities.
The three most important components of map include direction, symbol and distance which are in proportion to original figures. The I have also discussed what sketch an plans are and how they differ from a map, small scale map and large scale maps use. Watch the video for more details.
