Thanks for the clear explanation! For the merchant, what is the difference in terms of using a payment gateway, and an API from their bank? I understand a lot of banks are setting up payment APIs, but I don't understand the value of how that would differ from a payment gateway service (particularly the integrated payment gateways). Thanks!
Hey Jean-Philippe, This is a great question. I guess it depends. Maybe a good topic for a next video :) The short answer is that liability will likely fall either on the business (merchant), or the merchant account processor. The shopping cart platform doesn't generally handle fraud or neglect cases, but it does depend on what ecommerce shopping cart, because if they made the recommendation one which processor to use then liability could fall in their hands (if it's integration solution). With that the payment gateway as i mentioned in the video could be a 3rd party so if the fraud isn't found at the gateway level, then they're not liable either. So in short for the youtube commenst section, it depends on the specific case as to how is responsible. Let me know if this answer is close to what you're asking or if you were asking something different. Also, if you want to talk, I do offer free consults as my schedule permits. www.bancardsales.com/call/brian @jean-philippecoderre3322
Dalton, There are a couple merchant accounts that I recommend during consultations but the more important element for recurring charges is the payment gateway + the software that's running your business. So are you using a particular CRM that you manage your magazine business with? if so what integrations does it allow? for example, does it allow an integration with Authorize.net? If so, you can plug a merchant account into the CRM software via, authorize.net. If you want me to walk through it with you feel free to schedule a consult... you can so that here: www.bancardsales.com/call/brian
Are you using payment gateway right now? What questions do you have? Leave me a comment below. -Brian

Question for you: who is reponsible for security? Would it be the payment gateway or the shopping cart?
