Finally, a chance to give tribute to the reluctant hero that started it all. Conflicted and cursed, the black swordsman laments the betrayal of Griffith, a newborn demigod who was once his loyal friend. On his journey into darkness he must choose between keeping his spirit intact and using his hate to fuel his strength.
Above all, this song is a love letter to Kentaro Miura. Without your world of dark fantasy and unique vision, most of my songs would never have come to be. Rest in peace.

Rest in peace Miura, what a beautiful tribute to his just as beautiful work.
Do not lament that Miura has passed; though it is a sad fact. instead, celebrate that we were able to experience Berserk in all its glory and all that were spawned from it; this beautiful song among them.
"I bet he was happy. He was doing what he wanted, no matter what, right?" - Guts.
In a way this sentence from Guts really speaks to my feelings about Miura. He died doing what he wanted to do, and even if he didn't finish, I'm sure he was happy and proud of his legacy.
I'm not sad that it's over, I'm sad that it never will be.

@@worldlinezero4783 Miura hand picked people to carry on for him. He knew he would likely not live to see the story through to it's conclusion and he took steps to ensure there would be someone to finish his work. Man was a treasure.
@@DarkPrince345 I didn't know that, that's so good to hear. It'll still be different, but I've seen other great works of fiction passed to the next generation like this and come out well, so I have hope that difference builds on it in a positive way.

I don't even need to know the games these are for, Aviators is the best.
I love how “Into the Black” has parts that can be interpreted as being said from Guts AND Griffith’s perspective. “Will the scars reveal all the sins you chose, and how betrayed I feel in my fractured bones” can be said obviously by Guts after Griffith’s betrayal in the eclipse, but this can also be said by Griffith after Guts left him and the hawks after their second duel - as Griffith saw Guts’ betrayal a great sin as he lay physically and emotionally fractured in his cell. A beautiful duality, as after both those crucial moments, Guts and Griffith were plunged into their respective “blacks.” Brilliant song as always man!

Except Griffith fucked himself over. Griffith is the reason Guts got screwed. Griffiths ambition for lord ship and power is what got himself screwed.
@@demonintellect9834 Well that’s true, but it doesn’t change the idea that to GRIFFITH, he saw Guts’ betrayal as the cause for his downfall into “his” black. To any reasonable reader, it’s clear that Guts wasn’t in the wrong for going his own way to take control over his fate, no longer having to submit to a man who tried to control everything and when the one man he couldn’t fully understand and control left him he metaphorically and literally fucked everything up.

@@KeyganPardue Assuming you can deal with really dark subject matter without a filter, Read berserk it's great. despite the way the story may initially come off it's a surprisingly hopeful story at its core if you look just beneath the surface level.
Man, you can feel Guts’ longing. Hating because he can’t let himself love….but also can’t let go, won’t let go, of the one he once held so dear.
Funny enough, I see so much of Griffith himself in this song as well…..

Listen to Brand of Sacrifice. It’s a deathcore band inspired by Berserk. I don’t even watch the show and I haven’t read it either, but I absolutely LOVE their music. Lifeblood, Demon King, and Animal have to be my favorites, but all their music goes hard.
Just heard today that berserk is returning, under the supervision of Miura's best friend of 40 years and his assistants doing the artwork, the struggle continues
In loving memory of the man, the myth, the legend who brought us the manga that taught us that no matter how much tragedy and hurt the world gives, no mater how lost in hate and pain you are. You can still heal. You can still get better and grow beyond it.
This song personifies and solidifies Berserk as one of the founding fathers of tragedy and the Soulsborne series as a whole. As a fan of both, I couldn't be more happier. RIP Miura, what a wonderful community you've made.
Tragedy's been around a long, long time, but without Miura dark fantasy definitely wouldn't be what it is today.

First off, the song left me bloody mesmerised, it's amazing.
Second while Guts is obviously the focus in the song I find it chilling how almost every line can be attributed to Griffith as well. I can't overstate how amazing it think this song is

I love the way Avi retroactively fits his previous works into newer songs. Pulling an odd melody here, a few lyrics there and building upon his amazing discography and style more and more with each song. You can see the improvement with every album, like watching back on footage of you playing a difficult game and improving over several years.

I made this as a tribute too Berserk, I can't tell you if its a poem, or a song and its not even finished yet but I want to share it nonetheless. I had just finished the Lost Children's Arc for the 20th time so that's probably what I drew the most from.

I started reading Berserk a few weeks ago, I'm only at the conviction arc (just finished lost children) but it's already one of the best stories I've ever read, RIP Miura

My friends think I overhype Berserk when I tell them how downright amazing the story is. Then they read it (or even just watch the Golden Arc anime/movies) and they’re hooked. It’s seriously an injustice it was never finished

So I'm a huge Souls nerd, and I like dark fantasy, so this pushed me over the edge. I started on Berserk last night, and I'm a little in love.

This so brilliantly and heartbreakingly captions the relationship between Guts and Griffith... I can imagine them on a field, fighting to the death without saying a word but this is a silent conversation they're having through the tears and screams of agony. Beautifully done, friend. Bravo. 👏
Griffith and Guts are probably the most heartwrentching, brilliantly written, antagonic relationship ever made in fiction. Can't wait to see how that finally ends with studio gaga and Koji Mori now at the helm.

One of my friends does RP in a game, and is a huge Aviators fan. She sent me this song (mind you, I'm a huge Berserk fan and she's never read it before), and in conversation mentioned how it had inspired her to make a particular RP character. The backstory she gave was extremely similar to the plot of Berserk, which I told her.
She's now reading Berserk and liking it so far. What stuck with me though, is that you managed to tell someone who's never consumed a pint of Berserk before the story just through lyrics and musical storytelling. Bravo, have my like and my fandom. You rock.

New album is amazing! For me, avi is an author with true dark souls philosophy. His stories are strange and beautiful, he experiment with builds (styles) with every new boss (album), he getting better and better with every new song (git gud), and i just can't imagine, how strong he'll be by the endgame.

Another great song! The lyrics are phenomenal. "When I curse your name, can you see my face" and "And do you taste my pain in this bloodstained place." is my favorite lines in the song. Really captures the the character's emotions.

It took my awhile to work up the courage to listen to this song, I used to listen to lots of your stuff but I have lost hearing since then...so while this is hard to understand and everything sounds so dastardly different I can still sorta follow along with the subtitles(thank you I have new found appreciation for subs they help me fill in the words I dont hear). Berserk was such a good anime and dfrom what i can tell this does have those vibes.

The most beautiful part of Berserk is that it could be considered a story about recovering from the cycles of trauma and PTSD. The number of times Guts had to choose between his hate and his love... until one fateful day atop a tower, in front of a newly resurrected Griffith no less,, he finally chose. And the cycles began to break. But anyone who's gone through trauma knows it isn't that simple... rest easy, Guts. You earned it. And the same goes to Miura.
