I was baptized by Rev. Lockridge when I was 4 years old in 1959 at Calvary Baptist Church in San Diego, Ca.
The church he preached at is still going strong too. His funeral was maybe the largest in San Diego history.

The closest I find is pastor John Jenkins.
It's not unique, it's an era of preaching and a specifically Baptist trained preacher. First, it's a style unique to the African American preachers of the 1940's - 1980's. Started by Aretha Franklin's father who was on the radio. Secondly, the way the sermon is constructed - taking a word like "amen" and expounding upon it is characteristic of the preachers that went to Bishop College where Pastor Lockridge attended. The school is no more as is this style of preaching. You may find it rarely now and if you do it's going to be an older preacher. These were called "word preachers" for the way they could take a word and pontificate for 10 minutes on it. Look up C.A.W. Clark and listen, E.V. Hill, and of course C.L. Franklin.
BECAUSE, the today teachers most of them, NOT ALL are all about the 💸💲💶💷💵 not about the LORD'S WORD!! THAT'S WHY, sadly most of the Godly teachers have gone home, we're we'll be going soon😆😁😇🙏

ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! I’d travel a hundred miles each way, every Sunday, to hear sermons like that today... and be shouting “AMEN!” all the way home... 👏😇 I want to shake his hand in Heaven. 🤝 I’ve listened to the best recording of his “That’s My King!” portion many times, and it moves me to tears every time, but this is the first time I’ve heard him actually preach. How impoverished we are today, with the calibre of most of our preachers, many of whom just pay lip service to a God they neither know nor proclaim. 😔

This is the best video I've seen on youtube, God Truth. S.M. Lockridge, is my uncle, was Pastor of Calvary Baptist church San Diego ca was President of the southern Baptist Convention. He was to me, was the best pastor I have ever heard, growing up it felt like John The Baptist spirit was in is hold life. He was bigger then life when he preached, the atmosphere changed you actually felt the holy spirit, and I believe even 8f you weren't a believer, you still felt the holy spirit. If you put on that sermon close your eyes and just listen,,,, you can hear God the holy spirit speak to you. I can go on and on..

I want to be with LORD Jesus most of all. It's a One on one relationship. Even Mary can't take her eyes off of Him.
Have you ever wondered why God wants us to worship Him? He doesn't need our worship out of some egotistical desire. He knows how powerful an effect it has on our spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical selves. Worship has even won battles with when all the odds were against them.
It is even more powerful than laughter on our immune system from a molecular level to a visible level. I believe it explains why some of the Old Testament people lived to be hundreds of years down to a molecular level, they worshiped on all increments and levels of time from seconds to days, weeks, years from private to public, from on their knees to dancing and in song and the arts and to the integrity of their daily work.
Listeningto this sermon on my way to work as a 911 calltaker prepared me for helping others while keeping Jesus nearby all day and searching the Bible starting in Genesis for every loving way God has blessed us humans led me to be able begin to truly know who
God is and how much He loves us.
I mark each passage with an iridescent heart to leave a trail of hearts lest I forget my way. Wisdom was the first of all of God's creations and is given freely to all of those who ask per Proverbs 8 I believe. Ask and use that wisdom to search out who God is and His unfathomable love for all of us. And intentionally worship Him in many different ways from awe to humor.
This sermon is an awesome illustration tool to keep Jesus in your heart all day.
