While I appreciate Kiana's design, the strong Chinese New Year aesthetic feels incongruous and detracts from the overall experience. This design as a skin would have been a more appropriate approach, and the character itself should've had a more fitting colour palette, such as light purple or orange-red, to avoid the holiday-specific imagery.
Man, i hate the fact that Hoyo's gonna make me do all of part 2 story up until latests chapter just to have enough crystals for this patch. I really really wanted to avoid doing Part 2 story in the future after i finished chapter 1 due to how it kind of became a mix of genshin and star rail, which turned Honkai's story rather time consuming and tedious to do.
Can you elaborate on what it means to be like Genshin and Star Rail? I haven't played those games and I also stopped at the end of Part 1. Was wondering if Part 2 is interesting enough for me to get back into the game. The Flamechasers were my favourite part of HI3, along with Fu Hua, Mei, Seele and Bronya being my favourite characters; not sure if I want to get back into it if the latter characters aren't in the story so much anymore (the new characters haven't seemed appealing to me so far).

@@risha5642 Sure. I'll try to break it down as clearly as possible. For starters, Genshin is an open world game and Star rail is an open area game a little similar to the late story chapters in Honkai impact's part one like the cyberpunk city, the moon, etc. So the approach that was taken to the story in thos games was like any other normal 3D game where you see characters move and interact with NPCs in real time while dialogue is going or some action/interaction is being shown (like walking, por example). You cant skip these segments, just spam next until the dialogue is completely finish or wait until whatever animation they are showing, like some unskippable cutscene. This is designed to deliberately and artificially "prolong" content, resulting in longer minimum time being required to finish the new stories for the update, not to mention unnecessary dialogue being glued into it every now and then to further increase story duration (genshin does this A LOT). ---- In HI3 P2, They took a similar approach, If you played the seele chapter after the end of the main story (which felt like a filler chapter just to "justify" her herscher battlesuit) and anything P1 afterwards, you would probably have noticed these changes: unskippable dialogues every now and then (not all the time, though), a lot more filler dialogue and filler unskippable animations like characters just walking or moving. ----- In part 2, they implemented open areas with good old time-gated progression and level up requirements in order to be able to deal with area enemies or progress through the story, like the moon chapter in P1 and similar chapters but slower progression and bigger areas like Star rail, lots of chest hunt, multiple daily/weekly challenge towers for materials/exp/artifacts (yes, they implemented the worst part of genshin into this one but with a little less RNG, kinda), a lot of area puzzles like genshin and star rail but easier and enemies placed in almost every open area like in HI3's "open world" maps and Star rail. I already played up until chapter VII (i think its the newest one) and it seems they changed their approach with the open areas and made them smaller and less grindy and less "puzzledy", however, they did go the stair rail rout with the "mini events" as filler content for these story chapters. These mini events are just the classic mini, game events with some dialogues to add some filler stories, these are not hard but takes some time to complete. So TLDR, the story chapters take much longer to complete due to a lot of filler factors previously mentioned, some grind is required in early chapters (they stopped this after chapter 3, it seems), mini events and exploration (if you really want to get those crystals).
@@risha5642 I feel like P2 didn't interest most players since i've noticed this is like the 3rd time Hoyo releases new chapters along with fomo rewards/events that require story chapters completion, relying heavily on rewards interest in order to get people to play the story even if they skip most of it. And i for one, can confirm the story is not interesting at all (at least judging from what i didn't skip during the first 2 chapters and chapter VII). As you mentioned, none of the new characters are as interesting as P1 ones, specially the flame chasers (they did a whole chapter about Griseo and Hua before part 2 which had potential but the villain was extremely annoying and such a merry sue it ruined it for me, not to mention they took the genshin approach to story telling in HI3 to the next level, which i already explained on my previous comment). ---- As for P1 characters appearing in P2 story, i don't have context since i skipped most of the story but so far i have only seen APHO versions of Mei and Bronya, which makes sense), Kiana (who is getting a new battlesuit next update during CN new year), Teresa and kid durandal (which makes no sense other than "i came up with this type of combat that looks fun but i have to justify it in the story somehow, also lolis sell so + points for that" type of reasoning). From what friends who follow part 2 story told me, apparently the "kid form/appearance" is how Durandal "sees" herself as ideal or something like that is her "ideal self", which then again makes no sense given her character development in P1 but whatever, some will still defend bad story choices no matter what. ------ As for P1 characters interacting with P2 characters, in the early chapters is very very minimal, later on they appear a little more often but not as often unless they get a new playable battlesuit intended for P2 gameplay like kid Durandal so they become the "main focus" of the chapter (kind of), so i wouldn't suggest following the P2 story if you're only interested in P1 characters.
@@excalitto Wow thank you so much!! This is a really great and detailed breakdown, I really appreciate it! 💜 I tried to stay for the "1.5" story but honestly I was so bored with Suzanna stuff that I dropped before the new Seele battlesuit (it looked so pretty though!). The way you described the weird filler cutscenes sounds really annoying so I'm glad I didn't power through them only to find that I didn't like the P2 story/characters at all. I'll definitely at least go watch videos of the Hua and Griseo story though; even if it turns out it's bad, I still gotta know lol. I think Hua got a new battlesuit from it? It also looks like they fought Vita, who's (imo) the coolest new character from P2 but that's definitely not enough to sell me. Tbh I kind of wish P2 was its own game but I get Hoyo trying to "modernize" HI3 into an experience closer to Star Rail and Genshin (I think the point is to get Star Rail players to try HI3, based on the collab?) I just wish I liked those games lol. It sounds like they're easing up on the grinding and puzzles in those new story zones you mentioned, but if the characters/story of P2 isn't interesting then I don't think I'm returning. Unless they do APHO 3 and it's amazing?? I really like APHO actually, hope they continue improving it. All things said, I'm really glad to have experienced P1 though; definitely one of my favourite games! Still crossing my fingers for a Flamechasers anime one day lol. Thanks again for the detailed reply 😊
1:15 Wyve mentioned in the video that they were put in the team only because they got new stuff (new weapon and new outfit), not because they support each other.

This should have been a skin instead
Biblically Accurate Pink Jesus.
Pray for HoRb DK🙏🙏🙏🙏
Is CNY Kiana better third than HoFi for supporting Sparkle as Fire DPS (not QUA). What about CNY Kiana + HoFi?
Are Vita and DK Ely was BIS support for new kiana?
1:15 Wyve mentioned in the video that they were put in the team only because they got new stuff (new weapon and new outfit), not because they support each other.
