- Lindsey Stirling sat down to talk with Channel 95.7's Wendy Reed about fulfilling her childhood dream by meeting the Muppets, how hard it is to dance and play violin at the same time, and more!
she is such a pretty and cute angel i can only come across a pretty, cute and talented girl like her. Many girls these day only had one of them either beauty or talent, but not both.

The reason why Lindsey can dance and play like that at that level is because she did that since young. Most "experts" would discourage this as neither possible nor marketable. But this one girl built her nervous system despite all that, much like how ballerinas have to start really early so that their bodies are adaptable to it's advanced maneuvers.
Not sure if she even thinks of it this way, but she's a "Mozart-class" phenomenon.
This skill, it's popularity combined with her multi-genre capabilities, will make new kids of various styles follow suit and train like she did and perhaps revive the dying orchestral arts as well. She will transform many aspects of the theatrical arts in this aspect with the birth a supreme art-form that was hidden for centuries!

The only thing is, she started to try dancing while playing only in her early 20s... which makes her even more amazing, because after 15 years of playing violin "in a classical way", she completely reinvented the concept of violin performance. And she had never taken dancing class before. I can't figure out how she decided "ok, this can be done"; but she did.
Leonardo Pagani You are incorrect about the 20's. Note that she never did pro classical (only training), likely cuz of the fact that all the masters told her the dance part was a waste of time.

And iirc, she had mentioned in some interviews that she was just doing what she always did and was surprised at the viral vid getting her an AGT invite.
Leonardo Pagani Oh, also, regarding the "ok, this can be done", she does adhere to a pattern amongst innovation. Sometimes it's more like NOT knowing "it CAN'T be done". Or having the courage, skills, etc, to say "who cares what the others/elders think".
Someone recent prolly familiar to you... Once a "kid" said he was going to unite the world and document the personal relations between every human on the planet. These ppl will use their real identities and personal information on the internet. All the "adults" said that's just stupid cuz most ppl are too paranoid and it's plain stupid to expose yourself to potential dangers of strangers. Of course this kid saw the world has changed since the "adults" reigned and that he even had a plan to turn his product into a "development platform" which will lure programmers to add value for all the would be visitors unlike anything that ever existed. This product is known as FaceBook! ;) Yeah, if you followed this progress, you'd know it wasn't "about a girl" like hollywood bogus. lol

Actually, you are really close. The masters didn't know or say anything. Although you are right, they would have. But this is how Lindsey started...
When Lindsey was about 5 years old, her father would take Her family (mom and 2 sisters) to free orchestral concerts in the city. Lindsey said that the first-chair violinist always tuned the orchestra and got the big solos. She saw that as being the Star of the show. Lindsey would beg her parents for violin and dance lessons. They could not afford both, so after going to one class each, she decided on the violin. Lindsey started with a rented violin because they couldn’t afford one. And since age 6 (1992), she has been violining to this day, (30 years). She was trained in Classic Violin for the first 12 years. Then one day in High School, she needed money for college, so she entered the Arizona Junior Miss Pageant. She noticed that around 6 other violinists were competing. She wanted to win, so she added dance to her playing. She wanted to entertain and perform, not just impress everyone.

Of course, she won. After that, she decided to play the music she likes. She started adding hip-hop, then EDM, then dubstep. She has always practiced her violining...half an hour to an hour, 6 days a week. After she would practice, she would reward herself by playing something she wanted. She has said the key is perseverance.
Actually, she learned how to dance through UA-cam videos. Growing up, Lindsey and her 2 sisters would dance to the Classical records their parents would play. Lindsey has always loved to dance. Lindsey was on Dancing With The Stars and Dance Showdown. And Lindsey has had about a week of Tap and a week of Ballet. Lindsey also learned a little from friends and choreographers. Lindsey was born to dance. 😂

One more thing...Lindsey IS a Master. They say to be an expert or a master at something, you need 10,000 hours at it. Lindsey has 30,000 hours.
