Family's House Left Abandoned in the Woods

- This abandoned house in the woods is a two-story craftsman style home that sat on 2 acres and dates back nearly 100 years. The single family home was built in 1929 and featured 3 bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms, and measured at nearly 1700 square feet. The abandoned home appears to have been vacated for many years, as nearly everything inside was old and outdated. The photos and portraits that still sat on the various tables all appear to be at least 30 years old. The house has a lot roof and other structural damage, most likely from all the years of water damage and neglect, that have allowed for the natural elements to come in and take over. The exterior of the home has a look as if it’s being swallowed by the surrounding woods, as the trees and other greenery have covered the outside of the home making it almost impossible to see from the road nearby. Nature has taken over multiple antique cars that were still parked in the driveway. One car was still sitting in the covered car port, which appears that it’s about to collapse any day.
There are multiple rumors going around that this abandoned house was once lived in by notorious serial killer, Steven Pennell, but we have not been able to debunk or prove that.
This abandoned house was one of the very best that we have explored because of the history, the natural decay, and of course because everything was left behind by the family that last lived here.

I am still really surprised that this old house has not been overrun with squatters and vandals these days. Not spray painted in every square inch. That makes this even MORE fantastic!!
I don’t think a squatter would want to stay there. Too much damage and mold. I am really surprised vandals haven’t destroyed it though
Its always good to see when a place has this much decay yet no tags. Very surprised that even local kids didn't vandalize it. All of this for the most part is just mother nature taking over.
That’s what I love about North Dakota, lots of abandoned places and practically no vandalism or spray paint anywhere.
i don't care how interesting they are, no amount of personal minutia is worth it just to visit. if i'm going there i'm not leaving empty handed. i know this is a big urbex no-no, but it's really such a waste when valuables are left in the void, unused, unappreciated, unseen, and unknown. if i visit one of these abandoned places and take out a large stash of loot, i sell those to pawn shops or through ebay, someone gets to enjoy those things and make use of them. curtailing waste in the balancing act of moral judgement, supercedes the immorality of trespassing private property and theft. if no one is taking ownership and it's just being left there, is it really theft? furthermore, in all likelihood they have left the country or passed away, so who do those properties belong to? the government? you're going to trust the government to properly manage it? it'll take a century before those things see use again, and by then they would have been wasted away into trash or ash.
no, i say looters in the urbex community, if they don't destroy or vandalize, are are asset. the unofficial rule book for urbex should be updated such that in private and abandoned institutions where no one is obviously ever coming back or taking possession in half a century or more, it should be ok to loot and reclaim those objects for the sake of public use, and if that means making profit, then that is just the commission taken by the urbex who bring those objects out from the abandoned zone.
thank you for considering my proposal.
That’s thanks to the woods I’m sure
It's nice to see an old house like this where the only decay is from nature and not vandals.
Very rare in the USA. I'm sure it will be trashed eventually by some idiot kids.
Creepy but sad home…. Breaks my heart when things get left and family doesn’t handle if something happened to those that lived there..
.me too
I couldn't imagine being one of the original family members, and coming back to revisit this place, seeing all of these abandon items that would be so familiar, but now in a state of decomposition these many years later, especially if you were once the girl (now as an adult) in the bedroom with the standing ( blemished) dolls, it would have to be like some surreal nightmare...and why was it ever abandoned with all of it's personal material items (cars, photographs, dolls, bibles, etc.) in the first place. The neighbors that lived behind me, for well over 18 years recently disappeared in the middle of the night with no explanation, but I believe that they took most of their belongings, but it is still so incredibly strange.
Rather sad knowing all those possessions and memories in photos were all left behind seemingly with no value or no one left to claim them. You see this often I think as older people pass on with no close children or grandchildren who are available or interested enough to preserve things.
This is exactly what happened but it shouldn’t have. I’m the house owner’s great grandson. The reason we (the family) didn’t receive any of the photos from the 50s-90s or any of the items was because my great uncle had convinced my great grandmother (in the early stages of her Alzheimer’s) to give him all the property she had. He disliked my grandmother and the rest of our family & especially not my dad and I (racial reasons) and refused to give us any property and after he passed I honestly don’t know who would’ve owned anything out of it now as we don’t talk to anyone still associated with him anymore for obvious reasons. It started as the Dickinson’s residence, then the Quillen’s, and would’ve been the Harper’s. Just some insight into the house & who owned it!
There are some nice things left in that house that I'd like to have. So sad that things someone treasured are just abandoned.
Yes you're right. Very surprised its all still left in there.
So fascinating. Its sad to see the family photos left behind.
I feel so bad and so sorry for this house, there was so much left behind that I can only imagine it was an elderly person who died and then left to rot... It's so sad
quite frankly, it's a really neat house, it's terrible to see it like this
I don't think it was an elderly person's home. The family photos appear to date back to 1950s same as the calendar. Articles in rooms also appear to be from that era too.
Great work, I like how respectful you are of everything you encounter. Fascinating video!
Thanks for watching Max!
Old photos are precious.
Moments become memories.
How they could they just vanished just like tht. Left the beautiful house and their personal belongings behind. Just wonder where are they now
I enjoy seeing different explorers perspectives on various houses . 🏠
Seeing the kids rooms like that made me want to cry. I can't imagine leaving everything behind like that. Poor kids were probably devastated.
Really painful
The fact that it was so neatly tidied, too. It makes me wonder what on earth had happened. I know some parents like to leave kids' rooms like that when they either go off to college, or if they pass. But then what about the rest of the place?
This house dates back 5 yrs before I was born, it was cool seeing what things were like then. Loved the one bedroom set that matched in the one room. 👍😀
Thanks for watching Laurie!
Out of curiosity what year were you born?
Same here sound so interesting. Hello Laurie how are you doing with your family I do hope you’re safe from the virus?

Amazing find its sad all those family photos and personal stuff was left behind
Yes it was. Thanks for watching.
The one Photograph of the young Lady that was on the Table with the Dolls dates back to the 1970s.
The stuff in that House is really really old, much older than the 70s.
I wonder when it was Abandoned and under what circumstances.
When I see Abandonments where they left everything behind it really makes me wonder what happened.
this house made me feel a lot of nostalgia, all the cute decoration, omg I wish I could see this house in all its glory T_T
We totally agree! Thanks for watching Alexa!
This house gave me an overwhelming sense of sadness.
Time capsule houses are my favorite.im a collector of 70-90s tabloids and magazines and memorabilia. Each month I order more,as I will do in a couple weeks.i think your channel is neat.
I Love it!! Still, my favorite guys to show us any and all things abandoned! Thanks again for a great experience!
Thank you so much for the support. Glad you enjoyed it!
As soon as you mentioned the name Steven Pennell I looked him up.The wedding pictures could have been his because he did get married and I even discovered what city he lived in. If that was his house it's totally understandable why she would walk away from the house and leave everything behind. At 16:48 the guy in the white shirt top left side looks a lot like him.
It says in the article on Penell that he lived in a trailer park because the police searched his vehicle his trailer and his shed. I lived in a trailer park, you get a trailer and a shed basically. Back than would have been around the same time I lived in one. He didn’t live in a house.
Steven lived in Glasgow trailer park. And the reason I know this was because I'm from Delaware I lived in Chelsea estates. Right by the dairy Palace right along basin road.
@@robin-wn1lj why did it go away?
You found postcards & other documents. Did ANY of them have NAMES on them?
The abandoned cars are very cool! I love Oldtimers so much.
I always hope someone will see the photos and give some backround.
@ 11:43 - 11: 44 a spirit voice says, '' Oh she looks panicked.'' Creepy.
Oh man I heard that too. Damn creepy
Yooo wtf this deserves more likes, unless it was one of the two
I hear it even without headphones wtf
Wow!! More photos
If screams can be heard coming from there, it's not ghosts, maybe call the police.
I'm guessing this house was abandoned in the mid-1990s - 25+ years ago. The Staples logo at 6:28 was introduced in 1994, and I had to triple-check it wasn't the 1986-1994 variant, as I saw nothing else in this house that looked newer than the late 1980s.

Good catch there! Thanks for watching our video.
That's so cool to see the different stages of abandonment! Awesome video!!!!
It's crazy how just a few years can really destroy a place bad. Thanks for always supporting us Claire!
i love these videos. Makes me wonder why the abandonment
Great video man! Really impressive decay!
Thanks for watching Rodrick! You should shoot a video for us :)
I wished you went through some of the paperwork and maybe the glove box of the car to confirm the people that lived here. Maybe even find something with a date on it to see when it was abandoned
Thx, great trip. Some pretty amazing things in this house. Good job filming. Stay safe
Glad you enjoyed it Kate. Thanks for watching.
How luxurious everything is❤ and just decaying.we people in pakistan are deprived of such things even in 21st century😥
I just dont understand what could have possibly happened that you would just leave everything behind like that.
fuckin dying
How sad that memories that someone treasured are left to rot and be forgotten. One day I'll be forgotten too. 🥲
My first day watching you guys
Thanks for checking out our video!
Those dolls and the bedroom set were amazing
Shot of the car by house had an eerie feel to it

TUDO PAROU NO TEMPO ....... VOICE NÃO PODE IMAGINAR A NOSTALGIA QIE SINTO OLHANDO PARA TUDO ISSO !!! QUEM FORAM ESSAS PESSOAS ...O QUE FAZIAM ? PORQUE NÃO DEIXARAM PRA ERDEIROS TUDO ISSO ? E NOSTALGIA DEMAIS GENTE. !
We spend thousands and thousands of dollars on stuff... just to let it rot one day... Sad. (Even more true when you were alone and you suddenly die so you have no relatives to give them to...) All of these furnitures and stuff were new at one point and imagine the amount of times they've been used... like the chairs, Just imagine how many times these people sat on it, now it's just old relics of the past, rotting and abandoned...
Don’t think of money so highly
The photo albums you find remind me of my family's photo albums. There were so many pictures because we had to develop the film before we knew what the pictures looked like. We didn't have the convenience of deleting unwanted pictures. I miss having the tangible photos and albums.
Have you ever looked up the address in the city records. There would be a record of it's tax history. Also census records would tell you who resided there.
Also I would look for a VIN number on the vehicles, you may be able to find some names that way.
Enjoyed looking at this time capsule. Thank you for sharing.
It’s crazy how the home is like it’s frozen in time
This is my family’s house. I am a distant generation (I’m Japanese/Jamaican & American) but my older family, the Dickinsons (now Quillen & Harper) family, built that house years ago. No, it’s not a serial killer’s house although in the same area. The house was last owned by my now deceased great uncle after my great grandmother passed from Alzheimer’s. The entire house was decorated and designed in a way that would be nostalgic and invoke some form of remembrance in my great grandmother. She’s been gone since I was a kid, almost all of those people in the family photos (from the 70s, 80s, & 90s) are still alive and we all still live in a close distance to the house. The reason it’s abandoned is because my great uncle disliked my grandmother. He was given almost everything by my great grandmother & refused to give any property to the rest of the family. Hopefully someone reads this so they can understand the real (although not exciting) history of the house!
if its your families house, then where is this located?
I would love to see an abandoned house that no one has been in moving things & taking things.
wow so dilapidated but so pretty
You got that right! Thanks for watching Claudia.
I want this.house🙄🙄🙄🙄😎
Suit cases were being packed, they just ran in a hurry you can tell. Maybe it was the killers family. Sad left behind all their stuff
I think you are right
How are you Christina?
Hi how are you doing with your family i do hope you’re safe from the virus?
Sad to see how elderly people had to live without being able to make the necessary repairs to the home. Now, in America we are suffering from a housing shortage and a shortage of contractors to do the repairs necessary. If this home were maintained, then a new family could take up residence. The priority is the roof and then removal of all water damaged areas as this home is still able to be saved with the right resources and man power where there is a will there is a way.
Muy buena la casa donde esta haciendo me llevo todo por favor
No close up of vehicles? Very curious esp of the car under carport....
the first 5 seconds was definetly asmr
Wonder if someone had passed while living there. With the clothes & car's... Great video, saw I'm not Subscribed, now I am..
I have a matching spoon to that fork....what a awesome house!
Wow so very sad!!!! Love what you guys do!!!! Is Rebecca still doing videos with you guys? Be safe fellas!!!!
You can find out if it’s his house at the county court house. It gives you info who owned the house. It’s free to the public!
The plates on the table look like they were recently placed there and they are pristine clean compared to the rest of the table. There should be layers of dirt and dust on them.
Love your filming style!
Thank you so much!!
I think there was a '60s Lincoln Continental convertible next to the old Dodge sedan. Wow!
Shame yall can't rescue some of the things in there.
Hi aboundoned central that was a fascinating house a bit creepy a killer’s house glad you didn’t find anything out of the ordinary even those dolls look a creepy great 👍 video guys David 🇬🇧🙏❤️👍🏡
Thanks for watching David!
Delaware is my home state so I’m surprised it ain’t that vandalized 🙂. The Route 40/ Rt13 Killer is the only known serial killer in Delaware. Sad to say it but I literally live 6 minutes from the borderline of New Castle, where some of the murders took place some of them were brutally murdered, bound, tortured with work tools and mutilated and some were prostitutes that were on drugs that died due to the withstanding of a beating by a hammer. As recalled from an article. I drive on Rt 13 all the time and think about what happens from day to day nowadays people shouldn’t trust others who need a ride or whatever the case may be, you just never know if a blue Ford van is waiting to pick up it’s next victim. The crazy thing is Pennell didn’t even have a criminal record when doing these slayings in 88. But anyways now that I know he was executed by lethal injection in 1992 2.7 miles from my house is a relief. Let us remember the ones who were involved with these horrible crimes and remember the victims bodies that were never found by authorities. 😔💐🕊 Mr. Pennell May God have mercy on your soul.
That car under the carport is a 1994 Ford it's a crying thing to see the classic dodge is going to waste 😭
Thanks for watching and the info Robert!

I think there’s a typo, it would be an approximately 1984 Ford.

The Car is actually a 1986-87 Mercury Grand marquis. My Grandmothrr had one when I was a child.

you guys are brave to elude the owner next door and walkin under a roof thats about to cave in
No this is not Steven pennell's house he lived in Glasgow trailer park. I grew up in Chelsea estates on Thelm Rd right by the dairy Palace right along basin road. And he didn't have a blue car he had a Blue Van.
Crazy to just leave this...so sad 😔
Be careful watch snakes and also it's a very nice video and very excellent I like it also like the 19 40 Dodge car a car couldn't be restored and put on auction auction
Thanks for watching Angel! I absolutely hate snakes so this is a location i'll never forget haha.

Something I'd say.

@@abandonedcentral These videos are awesome man. So cool this stuff is gettin documented. I binge your videos, just watched the funeral home that hot shut down. I'm sure the embalming room had been cleaned up. Crazy how they just scram and leave everything. Or maybe they don't own the caskets even? So they can't. Ugh so gross. And that giant fat person casket. You'd need 12 pallbearers. Anyway, keep making videos and fk the cops n security, stay swift n silent and smart!
Can’t you tell who used to live there by some of the things there like mail and post cards etc?
Also, what state is this? You mentioned Pennel from Delaware. That’s where I’m from so just curious.
Thx.
Good video by the way
Que judiacao essas coisas todas estragando e podrecendo poderia servir a quem precisa né?
Calendar is open to 1954, is that when someone last lived there and I have seen this house before in person.
I'm surprised the owner didn't pack up everything and sell the stuff. There is a lot of money in there
I think that also, hello how are you doing Wagner I hope you’re safe from the virus?
You’re absolutely right. Hi how are you doing with your family i do hope you’re safe from the virus?
I remember the "wrong turn" series

saya sangat suka
This house is creepy. Especially the fact that it could be owned by a serial killer.
That is not only creepy but bazaar. All that water damage practically in all the
rooms. That calendar that said 1954, holy crap, this house may not have seen
any life since then. The condition it is in sure makes you believe that is has not
been lived in since 1954. This video was interesting. Please stay safe out there.
Don't think it's been abandoned quite that long, the gray car is '80s and even the Lincoln Continental that's completely overgrown is a 1961-1969 model. The newest thing I've found was the Staples logo at 6:28, that was introduced in 1994.

5:50 is there a name for this type of living room interior? This brick fireplace looks EXACTLY like the one in my grandma's house and she even had similar windows on either side! If anyone knows please help me out 🙂
This is so sad. Everything is ruined
There are other videos of this house and News stories and articles about this same house stating that it was indeed Steven Pennel's house.
Can somebody buy this house or the property and just fix it up
the true meaning of desolation
It should be pretty easy to get information as you have postcards with names.
why I can t see enough dust on the table and dishes?
Creepy location!
2:37 that table
OMG I want the drawers & bed... Lolll
Are those noises from the vehicles speeding by or the heavy rain and wind?
Its a combination of both. The house was pretty close to a main road so you could hear cars driving by. It was already raining pretty bad when we were there.
