Ahah as a k-pop stan who also plays league of legends it's really amazing when these two worlds collide. So this "Worlds" thing is the world championship for the game. This year it is held in Korea so that's why New Jeans is involved.
i was a bit skeptical when i first heard about the collab. can newjeans deliver? i thought to myself. but when i heard the actual song i was blown away! newjeans really can do any concept given to them and slay it dead!
btw the story is a real story with 2 friends from the same school started playing league since the beggining , one is the most famous player of all time with 3 world championships on his belt and the other guy the main charachter falling short a lot of times to win one until last year it was such a roller coaster of emotions cuz he was one of the best in his role but never winning the whole worlds tournament , this story starts since 2012 ^^, and you can see it at the start of the music video ^^

I'm not really an LoL player or part of the community but to sum it up: LoL has world tournaments where teams from all over the globe competes against each other in stadiums with tons of people there to watch, just like an actual sports game (this category is called e-sports, many other video games have this type of thing as well). This MV is about a specific team who have faced many losses prior but finally struck through and won, and the MV is a dedication to that team.
That's a great way to sum up LoL and Worlds. As for the M/V, it was mainly focused not on a team, but one player (his player name is Deft) and his journey from playing the game, becoming a pro-player, facing many losses and near-misses of becoming world champion to finally winning it just last year.
This is the Anthem for the League of Legends World Championship (also called WORLDS) The music video portrays a pro player named Deft and his journey into becoming the Worlds Champion. In the first part, he went to the same high school with Faker, who achieved glory early on in his career and won 3 World Championships (seen as him slaying the bigger monster 'Baron') The next few scenarios are him trying to win the championship with some of his former teammates • In 2014, he was knocked out by Samsung White (Pawn who holds a long hammer) in Semis • In 2015, He and his former teammate Meiko (the one with lantern) was knocked out by Fnatic (Rekkles with Electic shurikens) at quarterfinals • He then goes fast forward getting barraged by attacks as he gets kicked out multiple times (2016 - Quarterfinals, 2018 - Quarterfinals) • He was knocked out from Quarterfinals in 2020 too with his former teammate Keria (with the shield) who promised him they will win the trophy (They lost to eventual champions Damwon Gaming) • Deft was thrown down deep and his new squad raised him up as they rise from the bottom as the underdog who had to fight through play-ins up to Finals. • He meets his former teammate Meiko in Quarterfinals in a reverse sweep with his Draven (spinning axe) • He also meets his former teammate Doran (giant) • He finally meets Keria again, but as an enemy in the Grand Finals, with Faker, the undisputed GOAT and whom he went to the same high school with. • Deft's team is shown in their final picks in the final game of Worlds that led them to their trophy (The Trophy Deft has been chasing since 2013) Trivia: 2022 League of Legends Worlds Championship Finals received Sports Emmys for "Esports Championship Coverage" for the Cinderella run made by this team. Hi! didnt see anyone else really explaining what worlds is so here I go. At the end of the year league teams from (almost) all regions of the world compete for what is basically the world cup of League of Legends. Every year there is a "worlds song" and this year happends to be sung by New Jeans! There is a 100% chance they will perform during the worlds opening ceremony later this year (I think on November 19th). This Mv focuses on the career of Deft who won worlds last year in 2022 after qualifying for worlds 10 times iirc. He was always knocked. In 2022 He announced that this would be his last year playing competitively and it became a fairytale ending when he FINALLY won after all the years of falling short. The scenes in the mv are actually accurate clips of some of his wins and losses during games he played. Also yes: league is a 5 on 5 team game!

When i saw the collaboration i was like???? Cuz it was so random at the moment BUT WHEN I HEAR IT- Then i remember that LoL and NewJeands don't have any bad song like AT ALL 👁️👄👁️
Part of me feels like this doesn’t sound like a NewJeans song but the other part feels like now NewJeans can do more of this sound or even completely new sounds.
this is the retelling of the official games over 10 years of this main character called Deft, and how he kept losing before winning worlds 2022. all the fight scenes are mimicking the exact way how he was fighting ingame in Worlds and how he fought against his former teammates, like the slow-mo shot where his support with a big shield called Keria sacrificed himself for him and then you see them battling in the end which represents worlds finals last year alongside Faker and how with the help of his team members (DRX) won the championship. btw he was planning to retire but ended up by him winning his 1st time ever worlds title.
As someone who's not into gaming and definitely knows she doesn't wanna play the game while still enjoying this content by Riot Games, I suggest you watch some of the World Tournament's Matches to get an idea about the hype. :) Or at least tune into the finals' opening ceremony on November 19th! Probably a great show (yet again). :D Personally I'm not a huge fan of this song (probs due to my expectations knowing League of Legends songs and the announcement that NewJeans'd be running this song), tho knowing it's "just the anthem" I can see myself growing into liking it more, since it's not bad. Although I'll admit I wish they'd approached XG since I see so much more potential and synergy in hype and generally the style of League fits a lot to XG and vice versa!

I first put some contour on my lip line and just a bit over, then I add Maybelline’s superstay ink crayon in colour ‘enjoy the view’ on the outside of my lips and smudge it down just a little so there’s a thin layer over my lips and then I top it off with a little bit of MAC’s powder kiss liquid lip colour in the shade ‘over the taupe’ … and then pat ir down a bit with my finger so the colour is a little bit more blurry and subtle ❤️
No one come for me LOL, I love both groups, but this song hugely reminds me of Little Mix?? In the best way possible! I don't play League of Legends either, but I can appreciate great effort!
Although it was good, if they did a little bit more high notes and adlibs here and there or towards the end of the song it would be great. The energy and epicness level was like same from start to end. But it still good and even better than some of the League anthems.
Don’t know if you’ve noticed by now but there is high notes and adlibs in almost every line in the last chorus but they’re just VERY far in the back sadly

Yeah I think it slots into a top 4 position behind Warriors, Rise, and Legends - those are just too good, but GODS still hit everything it needed to
