If they are using a base as a commission without the base creator's permission on the other hand, that would definitely be a problem and should not be tolerated, but I won't go to deep into that. Another gripe I had with this was at the end where you stated "try not to draw the head too round". This would depend entirely on what style the artist is trying to achieve. If the artist was trying to go the common anime or even a more realistic comic book style, then I would see your point being valid, but keep in mind, there are comics,shows and games that occasionally sport the "circle head" look (Mickey Mouse, Felix the Cat, The PowerPuff Girls, Bendy from BATIM, Mario etc.), so yes, sometimes you shouldn't draw the head too round, but that doesn't mean you should never do that. OK, I know people have trouble figuring this out, but actually, using bases can help an artist learn to draw better than what they have before. From the 17 years I've lived and a majority of them I've been drawing, I used basses when I was younger and went to digital art. It did help learn how to get my own style and help me learn how to draw better. I really don't like it when people go and tell others not to use them just because they think it won't help them, but it can actually be a big thing to help them improve

Using bases is helpful. I used to use them when I could just draw a stick figure and now my art is sorta better,and I don't use bases anymore.

Tip for any drawing freaks (like me, where I can't stop) if you want yours to look better, find someone with a drawing style you hate and try to draw it better.
I dont know how people use bases. I tried to use a base once and I hated how it came out so now I draw everything myself. Im not that good but im getting better
