Oh, this is so, so sad. I spent one of the happiest evenings of my life at the Horseshoe Casino's Bluesville Theater when the Moody Blues were there. March 1999. What a nite - what a place. Thank you for posting this.

My Mom is from Helena, AR and I used to go visit relatives there in the 70's and 80's and early 90's. I remember when that casino opened in 1989 I think. That whole area started its decline when Mohawk Tire company left in the early 70s. My Grandpa used to work at Chicago Mill Lumber Co. and my Uncle told me how he used to see Elvis with a girl on each arm on Cherry Street.

All of this property that you were exploring, I used to work at this was originally known as the grand casino tunica. It opened in 96. I work maintenance at the casino in the surrounding areas in the hotels and kit quest and the convention center and also the chiller plant Plus the veranda and the terrace I did that from 1996 until 2000. It was a very beautiful casino. I witnessed them build this from nothing to what it was and now I see it again there’s nothing in a Bandan and it breaks my heart because it was such beautiful times, we had so much fun got into quite a bit of trouble every once in a while, but still so much fun it’s a shame how things go away

I am in disbelief in the current condition of Tunica, this place was an absolute boomtown! Quite simply Tunica was a gamblers' paradise that offered some of the best video poker odds in the entire country, liberal comps, lots of promotions, southern hospitality, and decent weather. My father and I would drive the seven hours from the upper Midwest to this gambling destination or fly on a Harrah's paid junket. We enjoyed many meals at the Paula Deen buffet, I can still remember having some of the best prime rib at this buffet. I have many fond memories with my father from our trips. Most of my video poker play was at Sheraton casino, since they offered the most complete inventory of full pay games. I also gave Harrah's some action since this casino offered full pay jacks or better at the .50 level. We stopped going to Tunica because my father's health deteriorated. Currently, I have little interest in going back to Tunica because most of the full pay video poker has been downgraded to short pay. Meaning the house edge on short pay games is too high. Tunica is no longer a value proposition. On one hand very sad, on the other my time spend in Tunica was some of the best times of my life.

We used to go to that Harrah’s casino in the early 2000s when it was called The Grand. We took a bus that would bring people in from Oklahoma, When the laws changed in Oklahoma in the latter 2000s and we have our own casinos now here. So I’m sure that hurt their business they hat ALOT of gamblers that came from Oklahoma.

This makes me so sad. I was there at those casinos back in 2007 with my boss. It was a sursprise paid trip for me. We went and stayed at the casinos that were all by each other. Then there was one by the river. The river was right behind it. When we were there a you g man had got his arm took off by an alligator. Glad you were ok. I have always wanted to go back and visit it all again. So sad.

First I hope you were packing when you were by yourself, second I thought you would never get out of that parking lot. I went the Grand casino which I think later changed to Harrah's in Tunica 2007 for Gracelands Presidents fan club luncheon, and thought to myself it was to far out. I had no idea they closed. Anyway this was fascinating.

We were there 3 or so years ago in our rv at the Horse Shoe when the tornado went through. Fitzgerald is the castle looking hotel. It was beautiful on the inside stayed there gosh 15 years ago. Got a room for $ 20 a night. What a shame. We said after seeing a pawn shop out in the middle of no where on that road coming in from Memphis, well if people lost all their money they would have to pawn what they could to get home.

This reason most of the casinos in tunica is going well out business it’s cause the casinos 🎰 there have gone downhill and then the 2011 flooding of tunica contributed to the downturn people got out of the habit of coming so most gamblers are going to west Memphis to gamble and hot springs Arkansas

Well, the floods really just finished it off. It was a terrible casino anyways from the start. Its in the middle of nowhere and had a bad reputation for not paying out. Then the recession happened. Then they tried to revive it. It was failing. Then either one big flood or a series of floods (can remember) killed it. They cleaned it up but when they tried to reopen, nobody showed interest in investing.
It was important employer for the area, which is extremely poor, but nobody else was sorry to see it go or surprised.

Hi Billy 😊, Thanks for sharing, Enjoyed video today! On another note, it's so sad too see how businesses have folded in Tunica. We started coming too Memphis back in 1997, 1st time we stayed at Heartbreak Hotel, it was a wonderful experience, Very much enjoyed,( stayed 1night ,and got 2 Platinum tickets too Graceland for $140.00 included with our package, no where close too the outlandish prices the Guesthouse charges now, and you don't get tickets too Graceland included, I told my husband at least we got to stay there once before they closed.)then every year since we drive the extra ,and stay in Robinsonville MS, a little further down strip. Like you said why would you pay high prices For example EPE, Guesthouse prices, when you can stay at casinos for better pricing, and for free sometimes. Many years my husband, and I have stayed for free, like you said for 6 or better days, and your away from the traffic, hustle of Memphis, and your secure, because they have security that drives Around , and patrols, so that's another plus why we stay in Robinsonville, it's within 30 minutes driving time too Graceland. Thanks 😊 again for sharing, your friend Bonnie
