Some of the things I've come across during my walks in the Campsie Hills. Music Prozac by Mighty Myte dig.ccmixter.or... myte prozac Rebirth by Greendjohn www.jamendo.com...
Great Film I attended Lennoxtown Primary and lived at Lennoxlea Farm where The Fields Of Blood are. I have very fond memories of the area and try and visit my family once a year now as I live in Sydney. Thank you Robert Orr
There is a grave on the summit of Tomtain called Chapmen's graves. One Chapman killed the other and was hanged for the murder. They were both buried together.I learned recently that there was a road running across here called the Chapmen's road which ran down to the Carron Valley.Part of the road is now submerged by the Carron Dam.
That's interesting. My Mother was evacuated from Clydebank to Kirkintilloch and has always spoken of the day she saw a dogfight over Kirkintilloch that headed towards the Campsie Hills. Also a few days after that the kids had bits of parachute into school.
my mum also told me the other crew member who was killed, his family took his body back to Germany after the war. My mum also had evacuees living in her house, her fathers cousin, uncle, and her cousins child.
Hi The quarry is to the North of Campsie Golf Club in Lennoxtown. If you look at the video you can see the course at 1.07 Hope this helps you find it. Scotaland
This video has told me things that I have never known and some of these things have shocked me. There is one thing though that isn't true though.. the Earl's Seat is actually the highest point on the Campsies, not the Meikle Bin. The Meikle Bin has a height of 570m whereas the Earl's Seat has a height of 578m. At 5:22 you can see the Schoenstatt's dog.
Thanks, it's the Spout of Ballagan. It's just East of Strathblane behind Ballagan House on the A891 to Lennoxtown. Here's a link to more info. scottishwildlifetrust.org.uk/reserve/ballagan-glen/#go-tabs-3
Hi Barrie. Sorry I gave you directions to Campsie's Grand Canyon. The area you asked about is across the road (A891) from Ballagan House. It's the big rock (Dunglass) just off the cycle path between Strathblane & Lennoxtown.

Cheers. Thanks for taking the time to comment
So much I didn't know about the Campsies. It has always been a special place! Hauntingly beautiful music to go with the storyline.
Great stuff. So many wee hidden treasures and stories.
Thanks for taking the time to comment. Now working on Campsie Secrets 2.
Most informative video

My mum remembers the German aircrew being short down, though she was very little at the time.

my mum remembers picking up all the shrapnel that was dropped, and taking her gas mask to school.

Surely it was 'Mac' and 'Mc' Gregor?
