- The “What Were You Wearing?” art exhibit at the United Nations invites observers to see the outfits worn by sexual assault survivors at the time of their attack, confronting and refuting the implicit victim blaming in that question. Featuring contributions by survivors, including Paris Hilton, as well as the United Nations Deputy Secretary General and other officials, this video shows how the campaign by Rise and the Spotlight Initiative shifts blame for sexual assault to where it belongs:
squarely on the perpetrators.
The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 35 percent of all women worldwide have survived sexual violence, but the United Nations General Assembly has never passed a resolution focused solely on protections for sexual violence survivors.
The United Nations did unanimously adopt a new agenda item introduced by Sierra Leone and championed by Rise to enshrine access to justice globally for sexual assault survivors.
The new item permanently places the topic of sexual violence on the Assembly's annual agenda.

Rise, a civil rights accelerator that helps everyday citizens pen their own rights into existence, marked the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence by collaborating with Spotlight Initiative on an art exhibit at United Nations Headquarters in New York City. The exhibit is meant to bring attention to the barriers to justice faced by global survivors of sexual violence and demonstrate the pervasiveness of sexual assault and the many different faces of survivors among us.
The “What Were You Wearing?” art exhibit at UNHQ invites UN visitors and diplomats alike to observe the outfits worn by sexual assault survivors at the time of their attack. The five outfits were contributed by a survivor from each of the five UN Regional Groups (African States, Asia-Pacific States, Eastern European States, Latin American and Caribbean States, Western European and other States). Viewers can see the diversity of the outfits--in terms of age, gender, culture, and occasion.

I support the issue but i want to point it out on a different prospective. Kindly do something for Affia Siddique and hundreds of women like her who don't have a platform to defend there innocence and they're brutally sexually assaulted in jails. Do something to made her release from guantanamo and many other women around the world. ✌
Here a story from my side also..
So it was my mom talking to her mother... My grandma ( she asked her if my education is complete.. My mom told no... She is still pursuing and its her final year...
And then what she asked my mom was completely shocking for me..
She asked now me should stop going out as the atmosphere outside is not secure in order to protect herself and what she called was so called respect of the family and let her get married as soon as possible...
And i was like what exactly happened..
Then she told a story that a 46 year old woman was going with her family members somehere.. It was about 7 or 8 p.m.
She got down in order to have something and she was gang raped by 4 to 5 men nd was killed
That was really hurting ...
But stopping us to go outside is not a solution.. Or getting a girl married to someone is also not a solution.. Because these anti social elements exist everywhere in the society..
What we can do is empowering women, girls so that they can face the situation and fight the evil..!!
