memang pun, I can guarantee non of our Malaysian YT will say it feels like a perodua and its quality is similar or tiny little bit better than off a Myvi.
Worst still the wanabe sloping roof which failed so badly in design and functionality. Baby camry....drives better than previous generation.....all BS.
On the topic of CVT, the inherent weakness still there - the metal belt, no manufacturer thus far has done anything significant to overcome the inherent weakness. I personally have encountered CVT failure - due to failure of secondary pulley and tearing of metal belt. Many CVT gearbox rebuilders will say, avoid at all cost even those on toyota : Alphard / Veilfire. I have witnessed these rebuilders rebuilding CVTs on Alphard, Veilfire, Vios, Civic 1.5t and even the latest Ativa. FYI, the cost of rebuilding CVT with new ori parts is not cheap as compared to DCT and Torque Converter. All in the name cut cost manufacturing.

The previous gen is not bad, but the new gen is not great
Tuning is different for the initial push mase mula mula . So bile kereta tu tak tune for performance skit mcm sebelum nie . Dia tak preggy . So kene tekan kuat . Bile tekan kuat so mengaum . Compare lama, sensitive throttle less effort to push harder , yet compensate on the fuel saving data .

Totally agree with you bro. I have test drive and feel the previous vios and the current one back to back. Literally the Toyota DNA not exist in the newer vios. Looks dah cun dah from the outside for the new one, but once you step inside and feel it and test drive it, nope, just doesn’t feel worth paying almost 100k for it lah. The previous one still and are the best!

This is kind of review i like, honest and straight to the point.
sepatutnya kena reviewer yang tak pernah drive between these 2 car kalau nak compare, walaupun takde rasa buyer's remorse tapi mindset dan experience kita akan bias ke product yang kita guna sekarang, sebab apa? sebab kita dah pakai salah satu kereta yang kita nak compare lebih lama, dia akan ada sedikit psychology, drive kereta "A" lebih 3 tahun, jadi minset kita dah biasa dengan kereta tu, position, behaviour, view angle, design, experience kita dah biasa dan sebati plus kita dah set dalam mind kita, kemudian kita drive kereta "B" yang mana, position, behaviour dan design ada sedikit kelainan dari kereta "A", jadi kita tak boleh nak kata kereta "B" kurang baik berbanding kereta "A" disebabkan perubahan yang kita rasa dalam masa yang singkat.
the best kalau nak review, kena cari sorang yang tak pernah drive antara 2 kereta ni, dan test drive kedua2 nya buat kali pertama, then baru dia boleh decide yang mana lebih better jadi segi drive experience, kalau nak compare technology and design, confirmed kereta baru lagi better.
aku pun tengah survey2 jugak vios baru ni, minggu depan test drive vios baru, kakak aku pulak pakai vios G spec 2021, jadi aku akan pinjam kereta dia drive dalam masa sejam sebelum ke tempat SC untuk test vios baru dan drive vios baru jugak dalam sejam, sebab aku pakai almera lama sekarang, then nanti aku akan share result which one is better and more worth to buy.
to add, setahu aku, TNGA or DNGA both develop mainly by toyota cuma DNGA akan melibatkan daihatsu di atas sebab2 tertentu (fuel and cost efficiency), and the main different of these 2 is, TNGA akan focus more to high-end car, segmen C and above untuk capai pemanduan yang lebih menarik dan sporty, where DNGA more focus to mid-low end car untuk capai cost and fuel efficiency. which is not the big deal, kena lepaskan sesuatu untuk capai sesuatu. dan walaupun ramai kata vios baru drive experience dia macam perodua, i think is not a deal breaker, walaupun engine dan gearbox sama dengan myvi, tapi selain daripada itu adalah lain, material, NVH, quality, installation adalah berbeza.

Bab tekan minyak tak pergi tu sebiji perangai macam Myvi facelift. Kena masuk 'power' mode baru hilang throttle lag.

Hmm the new one handling much better for me. Take a few corners and it just shows how good the new chassis is. Power wise, I think because 17 inch rim that’s why. Your 16 inch with fatter tyre will ride better and also lighter. And tyre doesn’t make your car accelerate faster/slower, and if conti…also banyak model ma. Your previous vios is the best iteration of the previous old chassis, the most quiet in the segment.
I agree on the steering wheel choice, it’s very underwhelming because it’s the same as perodua.
bought previous vios G spec 2019 , memang still sedap sampai sekarang. selesa sampai taknak kereta B segment lain dah.

1 -UMW toyota sebab keluarkan kereta macam ni, pada harga macam ni, yang cuma ada logo T. kecewa sebab diorang perah fanbois.
2 - buyers yang beli buta2 sebab logo T. for 70k, this *might* be an OK buy. not for 95k. very very very underpowered.

I like your honesty.. We need more reviews like this.. So far, all other reviewers just say the new Vios is good.. this and that.. I mean.. they are all avoiding the fact that the new Vios is a Daihatsu/Perodua.. selective bias.. maybe getting paid ke.. or don't want to upset Toyota Malaysia..
Even if we think logically, how can Daihatsu beat Toyota kan.. It's like saying Audi and Porche is the same...
I think companies like Toyota should be punished with bad sales for treating Malaysians like we are stupid. Hope more people are aware regarding this.

Thanks for making me feel better. I actually bought the G spec NSP151 version as I needed the rear folding seats. So I basically only got my car for almost a month.
This new Vios cannot fold rear seats 😉
@@im_jrsong I went to test drive the new vios just now. Exactly like what you mention. If the brown soft touch material you remove from the four panels of the door and the dashboard, it is exactly like sitting inside a perodua product. Rear seat my friend said its like sitting in air asia seats, so upright. He still prefers the old vios seats.
I noticed one problem carried over from our old vios speedometer. The glare is there also on the new vios speedometer.
But i think from standstill, the pickup is better than our old vios as well as the acceleration is more eager. It seems like the throttle pedal is more sensitive. CVT gearbox is loud but not as bad as Alza/Veloz.

1. center arm rest tmpt dok blkg xdak. ank2 nk letak air tgh2 payah
2. ada bonggol kt blkg. yg lama xd. mengganggu jgkla
3. lampu blkg mmg hambar. walaupn signal menarik tp design vios lama yg melengkuk mmg cntik siang dan mlm
4. kt tgh xd tmpt letak air.
5. msh ada usb lg kt monitor. haiyaaa

Just sharing my point if view
Pendapat saya, features/tech yg dia bagi dh kira bagus sbb 4 years ago, to get all these features, you need to get C segment. So, Pendapat saya, bersyukur la B segment dpt features C at B segment price walau harga menghampiri 100k. Soalan nye.. Ada tak kereta yg betul2 murah? Axia pun tk la murah mana pun.
Abang tolong test drive kereta hybrid saya tahun 2013 😊 Kereta saya dah hampir 10 tahun but still feel the best 🥰

By right DGNA yg Vios reportedly to use utk new Vios ni, offers better chassis performance and also cost saving. Tp nampaknya harga dan pakej tak reflect all of the DGNA benefits.
Belum test drive lagi, tp interior especially front seats and center console tu mmg lg best. And yes, steering rasa slightly "kurus", prefer something yg a slightly more "gemuk".

Bunyi mengaum disebabkan penggunaan kotak gear D-CVT itu sendiri.
Sepatutnya toyota guna CVT conventional + proper mapping untuk kurangkan bunyi engine.
Atau tambah kedapan banyak dekat firewall supaya bunyi engin + D-CVT mengaum tak kedengaran seperti kereta MURAH.
Orang bayar dekat RM100K OTR kot… should be better in NVH or people will just choose Honda City V sensing or maybe Toyota Almera.
Vios baru ni aku bwk 4org terbukti bunyi mengaum tu hilang. Kalau jln sorg mmg ada mengaum sikit tapi mengaum pergi. Baru ku tahu dcvt ni function dia. Padu Toyota
The steering that your car uses (also my car) is from last gen'sToyota Altis, definitely 100% better than the new Perodua Vios hehehe.
Idk is it me but the vios steering feels abit heavy for my liking. From a Honda owners perspective

I paid RM500 booking fee 3 months ago, but I couldn't decide because too many Perodua parts, backseat not foldable & no spare tyre. Thank you for your review, I think it'll help me make an informed decision now. All the other reviews tend to lean towards the positives (maybe because they got a free trip to Langkawi 😁)

As someone yg pernah drive 2 kete toyota vios 2023 ngan 2020, also produa ativa...aku blh kate vios 2020 punya enjin safety more to performance so...yeah...sdp main pickup... but for dcvt, aku prefer yg baru, safety dia x kacau sgt mcm yg lama, but yeah, susah nk pilih 2023 or 2020 version😅

Saya tak tahu la driving experience Yaris dan Vios sama atau tidak tapi masa drive Yaris kawan saya.. sedap gilaaa 😌 macam JR cakap.. tekan smooth saja. Stereng pun sedap pegang.
pernah compare vios member dengan yaris sdiri, lebih kurang je. mmg bab accelerate tu smooth. belum cuba lagi vios baru lagi, ada masa nak test drive.

Pilih2 belek2 last2 ambil city..sebab senang nak jolok fishing rod one piece dari bonet. Penat tunggu vios baru..last2 rear seat takboleh lipat. Patutnya toyota maintain benda tu.

Feels like perodua is like a weird thing to say because it is perodua that is using the Daihatsu platform which is owned by Toyota so it only makes sense for Toyota to use their platform, my experience is the drive comfort was much better then the ativa and I felt it gave me more control of the car but yes the dcvt was a bit like unresponsive when u 'tekan minyak' but that's the norm now for most cars due to fuel and also durability. If anyone were to buy a vios I'm sure they will not have any regrets because Toyota reliability speaks for itself and I have never heard a vios user complain about their car. Thank you JR for the comparison, I will take what u said into consideration because I'm looking at this car because to me it's the most promising in its class 😊

My experience pulak, baru test drive axia advance and terus pergi showroom toyota, once i masuk vios baru, it feel the same with new axia. I dont know why, maybe the steering? Or maybe mindset ckp platform yg sama😅

9 years ago, I really hate nguuuurrr sound from my proton cvt gearbox. How I wish to go back to normal automatic. Now when I want to upgrade my car, almost all of the selection is using cvt gearbox. Aiyoh, now everyone is enjoying the nguurr sound.
Higher priced CVT has better nguuuurrrr sound

JR SONG, semua yg bro ckp, berkenaan quality material, comfort and the engine with cvt sound all are better in honda city,, so should definitely look at honda city if wanted all that criteria

Rasanya Vios dapat DCVT daihatsu kot (dual-mode cvt), klu btul toyota punya direct-shift cvt. Daihatsu DCVT gear mechanical kat gear tinggi save minyak, Toyota DCVT mechanical gear kat rendah protect cvt belt

Personally as family owns few toyotas (yaris, avanza and hilux).. and aq to compare nearest dengan yaris.. aq test vios baru, handling & pickup untuk aq rasa lagi better (boleh tengok yskhong lenjan).. aq boleh katakan lenjan dekat corner roundabout.. it's quite solid.. material selection dekat stereng aq setuju memang vios sebelum nie lagi better.. tapi kalau overall aq rasa banyak pros and ada cons dia.. ikut pilihan masing2.. I booked for myself already

Actually Toyota is cutting corners... Look it like this guys... They share the Platform Across 3 Brands which is Toyota, Daihatsu n Perodua, but put the price higher.... The logic is bila share platform... Lower cost to the manufacturer coz the model that related to the platform pakai platform yang same... Same goes to the Engine n Gearbox... Even share same material inside and pretty obvious is the steering itself... At the end of the day... we need to understand, it is business... Lower cost and higher profit is what every company desires...

Aku lagi percaya JR dari reviewers yg lain.. kalau tgk reviewers lain, asal review kereta baru jer mesti komen sedap, senyap, nvh rendah etc.. aduh.. macam tu semua kereta sedap lah. setiap kali puji melambung, negative points sikit je. Susah nak percaya.

So betul la apa yg aku pikir, sbb masa keluar vios tu diiklan berdasarkan DNGA, bukan TNGA. Dan berat pun lebih ringan, jadi mungkin driving experience x sebagus original toyota. Kalau toyota jual harga bermula 70k atau 80k, mungkin la org x complain sgt. Mungkin perodua bakal keluarkan sedan segmen b based on vios? Sbb tu harga jadi mcm tu. Kot la kan
