Many thanks. As someone thinking of moving to Garmin, your video is excellent which gives me a very good overviews on now it works. That’s exactly what I need.
Great video. DC Rainmaker is my go to and yet I've still learnt some new things and added some knowledge, which is high praise indeed! Just need garmin to sort pricing out now so I can buy one without selling an organ
Hahaha, I agree, I sold a kidney to make this video mate. Thanks for the lovely comment. Like you said, the praise couldn’t be higher if you’ve still learnt information here; DC Rainmaker is great 🔥
I had Garmin Fenix 2, 5X, 5X plus and I switched to the Tactix 7 with the awesome aviation capabilities. I think the AMOLED screen on the Fenix 8 is stunning. Navigation a course, to fantastic POIs like local cafés and pubs are my favourite feature on those watches and this review is so helpful covering that. Modify the round trip course on the fly looks very cool also. Looking forward to watch more content on the F8. 🥵Fenix 8 AMOLED 51mm is half the price of my actual car, still hard to swallow but I’m saving towards it
Hahaha, I just did the math.. and yes, this Fenix 8 costs 45% of the value of my car too. The Amoled is great.. if you don’t need the speaker and the mic, maybe save some money and get the Epix Gen 2 Pro? Thanks for the lovely comment about this review 🙏🏽 All the best 👊🏽🔥
Informative video, well done. The note on the screen to body ratio with the smaller size wasn’t something I’ve seen elsewhere yet. Reminds me of the Suunto Race S.
Yeah, I had to read the dives about three times as I couldn’t believe it 🤣 Nice to know the 43mm watch (let’s call it the Fenix 8s) has got a spec bump which makes it offer the best screen to casing ratio 👏🏽 I thought the same. I’m dropping a Race S comparison video soon.
------ Very useful, because explanations on how to use maps during an activity are not mentioned in the Garmin documentation, even though it's the area that has evolved the most. Also, I haven't found such well-presented information anywhere else, well done and thanks!
This is excellent, a great watch. As for Wells in Norfolk, it's a magic place. Luckily, my family used to live very close. Lots of changes...I am on the mend following surgery.
It’s lovely to meet fellow lovers of Norfolk, especially those who like Wells! I feel that magic too. I’ve been numerous times and I’m still discovering new/hidden trails and locations 😍 Good luck with your recovery, you’ve got this ❤️❤️
I'm considering upgrading from my Instinct to the new Fenix. I was curious if it's possible to build a course directly on the watch by selecting points on a map, and I found exactly what I was looking for in this video. Thanks for the helpful content!
Yess, it’s nice to have a new gadget on the wrist. Lots to learn with the Fenix 8, I found it abit intimidating at first 🤣 This is one of the stock watch faces… I just scrolled down and picked it 🫶🏽
If I could afford it I would.. unfortunately Garmin don’t answer my emails so this video probably won’t happen 🙈 I WILL be doing the Enduro 3 video. This is exactly the same as the Fenix 8 Solar really in terms of navigation so stay tuned for that. Coming very soon 😉
Contratulations. Great video. I got my fenix 8 two days ago to replace my garmin 7x pro and this is the best youtube video about navigation. There are many videos about running, hiking... but no about navigation in detail. Again, congratulations
The “BEST UA-cam video about navigation” for the Garmin Fenix 8… you can say that again! 😉🙈 Thanks for a lovely comment, I hope you have amazing adventures with your Fenix 8
It has been really fun to use and test.. for $1000 though, I don't think I'm "satisfied" unfortunately. This is a complete different story for the Enduro 3 though.. so far.. im loving this!
Tbh.. for the money.. definitely get the Apple Watch Ultra 3 if you’re looking to buy a watch now. I’ve seen lots of glitches and bugs on Fenix 8. If you want a Garmin I say get the Enduro 3 😍 Or wait for the Fenix 8 Pro which is probably coming out in January 2025 anyway 🤣🙈
Were you able to get turn-by-turn notifications to work while navigating, like say on a course you sent to the watch from Garmin Connect? It doesn't seem like the Enduro 3 can give the turn prompts where it vibrates/beeps at the turns and the voice on your headphones says to turn left/right. It works fine on the Epix Pro.
I can’t keep up with the Garmin updates, seems like there’s one every other day that fixes one thing and then breaks another hahaha.. last time I checked the turn by turn is working.. most of the time, still abit shakey! But there was another update within the last few days so I’ll have to check again to see if it’s smoother now as turn by turn audible notifications and vibrations should work every time without fail
Great video. Are the maps pre loaded or are there purchase options for if you go on holiday outside of your region?. Also, can you sit at home and add in destinations, and can you do anything fancy with Garmin express software?
All the maps you saw here in this video are free. Garmin do offer more detailed maps at an expense but I’ve never used them.. the detail in the free offline maps are already fantastic. I’ve only really used Garmin express to update my watch and watch’s maps.. nothing too fancy! If you leave your region (say you travel from America to Europe or Africa) you can download more of the free maps at zero expense with this same detail! Hope this helps mate 🫶🏽
@@ActiveIdeas that really helps me. I'm going to Australia in December and really need this watch as a companion. Amazing battery life! Some feedback > The U.S.P of your videos is just seeing the watches on your wrist, being operated in a real time environment, going through all the features and menus. 👍
The watch will perform fantastically in Australia! I actually lived there for a year and got to use the old school Fenix 3 HR there 🙈 Thanks for the feedback, it’s a shame that my U.S.P takes soooo much of my time but doesn’t actually reap many viewers or subscribers haha.. I’ll keep on pushing 🫶🏽
@@ActiveIdeas keep on pushing, keep being you, and do what you believe in. Showing devices being operated shows the real world use cases. Too many reviews just listing features on the box. Seeing the device being used is just so much better. thanks for your time to make these. Do more stuff with Abbie, also 🤩👌
Is there the option of having just a big arrow on the screen that gives the direction you should be walking on a course (not the tiny arrow on the track), for instance pointing left when need to take the left fork at a junction? My old man's eyesight makes the small map trail with tiny arrow difficult to follow.
Just spent 30 minutes trying to work this out. That cool arrow feature seems to have been removed (I definitely found it useful too). If it’s there.. it’s not easy to find 😅
Great vid. I agree with the screen confusion in this generation. It's kind of insane. On main reason I chose the 51mm solar was the bezel thickness. Like the 51mm amoled looks dated with that thick bezel. The 43 does look awesome though. How tall are you? Guy on my Channel commented about how dumb my 51mm looks on my thin beta male wrist lolol. 😂 Thing is, I 100% Agree with him. 😬 Your content is inspiring. Keep it up. 🙏
Cheers Rory! Massively appreciate it! Yeah the confusion around screen sizes is mental now.. I preferred having Epix & Fenix so difference between models was clearer 🤣 I have to admit that Fenix 8 solar 51mm with the thin bezel looks sexy as fock haha, great choice mate! Hahaha, “thing is, I agree with him” 🤣🤣🤣 I’ve had a very of those comments on my Enduro 2 videos. I’m 5”7 muscular build.. I can JUST get away with 51mm but 47mm looks most natural on me. 43mm is so comfortable though! I lovvve how the 43mm feels Thanks again mate, means the world! 👊🏽
Other than looks and mic/speaker/dive features, the 965 seems far better value at less than half the price and it's still lighter with bigger display (it doesn't have tides widget, but you can workaround that with garmin watchfacebuilder). The battery life is also significantly better on 965. I wonder if they'll port the new Countdown event widget to other watches.
My reaction answer to “I wonder if Garmin will port this brand new feature to an old watch” question.. is usually a “hell no!” 🤣 BUT I hope Garmin change this reputation. Coros & Suunto have gone the extra mile it seeems when it comes to squeezing every bit of life out of old hardware. You’re right about the value of the 965, especially with the deals at the moment. And arguably the best value Garmin right now is the 955 Solar. You can find it for cents/pennies and it does 99% of watch the new watches do 🫶🏽🔥 Hope this helped
@activeideas Great video. Is it possible to get rid of the black box at the bottom of the map screen when navigating a course that shows distance to next turn?
I also wondered this.. I find it very distracting and makes up too much room. But unfortunately I don’t think you can remove it.. Infact there are pretty much zero navigation settings/customisations on this watch. Cool features like displaying the map and then data on the perimeter (hr, pace, distance, etc) have also been removed
I’ve got a video deep diving into the size of the 43mm very soon! It feels amazing .. no different from the 42mm. The only difference is battery life .. I’m getting 3-4 days in Fenix 8 which would have been more like 5-11 on the Fenix 7s with more training than I’m doing now 😬🙏🏽❤️
Tactix 7 Amoled also does all this, but the processing speed of the maps can be slow at times. Also, if you drop a link from Apple Maps into the watch, it can take a time to find a route to that point when in a built up area like Manhattan. Having said all that, everything is done on-board the watch without the need for a phone. It’s the smallest most capable sat-nav on your wrist in this regard but a faster processor would be most welcome.
Oh yeah, that Apple Maps sending to Garmin feature is really cool actually. I’ll put it in the next video 👍🏽 I couldn’t agree more.. yes the calculation times are long BUT it is being done on-board and at least now we have a progress bar which is really useful. I’m sure the Garmin Fenix 8 Pro will be out in January 2025 anyway, maybe we get faster processing times then 🤣
You don’t care about the Speaker & Mic? I would say DO NOT get the Fenix 8.. save some pennies and treat yourself to an awesome Epix Gen 2 Pro. Also.. if you’re not too fussed about AMOLED, I would say the Enduro 3 is the best Garmin you can buy right now.. it’s a good price too ❤️
They’re exactly the same just better battery life 🔥 I used maps today for a 20 mile adventure along the Beach.. my Fenix 8 lost 52% battery life. Wouldn’t surprise me if the Enduro 3 was still in the high 90% 🤣 Video covering this coming out next week 🫶🏽
Also, do you feel that the maps look good compared to the fenix 8 amoled ? I like that the enduro is less expensive and I don’t scuba dive and the speaker feature is nice but I don’t know if it’s worth the extra money.
The Enduro 3 is the best value-for-money watch that Garmin make for people who want the top their features. I’ve tried the speaker on the Fenix 8 and it currently sucks.. and do think in the future the Speaker and Mic will be amazing but we’ve got a few software updates to go first… maybe they’ll have it cracked by Fenix 8 Pro. If you want to buy the best watch NOW.. get Enduro 3. (Amoled is more hassle than you’d expect) ❤️
Is your watch the one that originally came with a titanium strap, and you added a black strap, which is what you wear? I see your bezel is grey, the strap is black, and the spark is grey. The closest configuration I can find has a grey bezel, an orange strap, and an orange spark. I might change the strap to black, but I couldn’t change the spark, which remains orange. I’m asking because I don’t want to purchase the titanium strap, which seems the version you have it, but I like the model shown in the video. Do you know if it’s possible to get this model without the titanium strap? Because I don’t want it. Any ideas? Thanks!
You have an eagle eye! 👁️ So this video is the Fenix 8 43mm Amoled. The bezel and strap combination is the exact factory configuration it was shipped with.. the original strap. Good news! Hope this helped ❤️
Great offline navigation aren’t they! 🔥 For a more affordable price range check out out the 955.. I have a video on it. Or the forerunner 965. It’s also well worth checking out Suunto Race S, not as many features but does the basics and it’s only $35
Hi - great video - I have a Fenix 8 but can’t seem to use the navigate function. When I press go it says “add a gps enabled app to use this function”. Any idea how to solve this? Thanks in advance!
@@Irina_tay83 sounds like a software bug I was experiencing myself! Have you tried updating the watch? And resetting it.. if this doesn’t work message me on instagram with a video showing the problem and I’ll help you solve it
hello, I go to the mountains very often. how do I see the mountains around me, or the route on the mountain that I want to choose?? On the other Garmin, it shows me what is around me and I choose which mountain I want to go to. thank you!
Yeah, you can do this on the Fenix 8 too.. the quickest way to do this is probably load up the map, scroll with your finger to the summit and then select the mountain’s Summit. You can use the around me feature.. I’ve never tired this but it would probably show the summit and you could select it this way too. Good luck! 🔥
I’ve set up a short cut to use Siri, Hey-google instead of Garmin’s voice command. Through the phone’s voice assistant you can activate Shazam and it will listen to music and get the track name for you. It will not visually show you results on the watch though unfortunately. You’ll probably have to open the Shazam track later on to see what the sound was. Hope this helped James! 🔥 Thanks for the comment 🫶🏽
I found the video very helpful, thank you. I've been searching for a simple solution - using my Garmin 8 as an alternative to Google Maps. I want to be able to set my starting point and destination on my watch using my mobile phone. Then, I'd like to be able to walk or navigate with the help of my watch. Can you pls share with me any link to learn or can you help me with a short video
Thankyou so much for the comment and dropping by! In my latest video where I compare the Fenix 8 to Suunto’s Race S I do have a map section where I go over the app on the phone and how to create courses and send this to the phone. I highly recommend checking out my latest video for the information that you’re looking for. You might find that I’ve edited it abit quick though.. so let me know! If so, I have a full in depth review of Garmin 8 dropping sometime this week and I’ll go into more detail for you mate ❤️
I really am interested to know the battery life when navigating a very long distance course with the map screen on just about all the time for the enduro 3 vs fenix amoled 47mm vs 51mm? I think DCr mentioned it was was only 20 hours for the fenix 8 because the map screen drains better more than other screens. Do you have any data on this issue as i participate in loads of ultramarathons and multiday adventures which require constant following gpx routes.
I do have data. Today I ran 20 miles along the Norfolk coast. It took 5 hours. My Fenix 8 43mm burned through 52% 🤯 The Amoled Fenix is NOT what you want for ultra marathons. Get the Enduro 3. OR if you really want unbelievable battery life thing ultra marathon look at Suunto for Amoled options.. they’re working some dark magic to get their watches to stay alive for so long 🔥
If I didn’t do so many ultra marathons I’d contemplate keeping the 43mm Amoled Fenix 8. But I massively prefer the MIP displays because of the battery life. It’s also better for viewing outdoors in my experience. For this reason I’ll be getting the Enduro 3 as soooon as I can 🔥
What a great video on the navigation. Thank you so much. For us oldies, can you do a walking course using all the benefits of a run i.e. create the course, if you deviate etc etc or would you just walk the run course?
An absolute pleasure 🥰 Glad I can appeal to oldies too! 😉 You ask a very valid question because the answer is weird. Yes you can create a walking course with the navigation feature on the watch. BUT you must enter the walk or hiking activity FIRST. And then select navigate and then create course. In this video I create a course from the “map” activity with no sports selected. In this scenario it weirdly only shows run, trail run and bike.. nothing else. This makes no sense but at least there’s a work around (select walking before navigation). Even as a tech reviewer I found it hard to digest this Garmin software 🤣🤣 In attempt to simplify things.. it, to me, seems more complicated at times 🤣
Well Next Sea - seriously? Total mud fest on the coast path! Thanks for the video though. You are correct, there are not enough people doing a deep dive on the nav features. An interesting one would be to see you using it in practice on a tricky ultra trail and how you use it to correct the inevitable nav errors. I use Komoot on my phone with a power pack and use the Garmin as a back up only….
Hahaha, I knew someone would call me out for my love for Wells. I just wasn’t expecting it to be this soon 🤣 I was there today actually, did 20 miles, and it was bloody beautiful.. no mud, we ran from Wells-Next-To-Sea to Sheringham.. I can imagine it being horrific in winter though.. or horrible rainy days. Thanks for the comment Chris ❤️ That’s a great idea, I genuinely am curious about how good Garmin’s Dynamic Routing is. It could be amazing.. it could be terrible, only one way to find out. Sounds like a good combo.. is Kamoot worth getting? I’ve been using OSmaps and pay for it.. but it’s unbelievably basic 🌍
@@ActiveIdeas Komoot is cheap, but only pay the basic price not premium. The maps are quite good, though not as detailed as OS. But the real upside is spoken navigation prompts. I find that if you only check your phone screen when the navigation isn’t obvious (and don’t use your phone for music!), you can get a 10 hour ultra done on a regular sized iPhone on its inbuilt battery. For a 100 miler you would need a battery pack (or two battery packs for the Arc, but then you have crew). I have run the Arc route this way (a recce over a week) using the Strava gpx of someone who had done the route, with the obvious navigational errors corrected, and made almost no errors. This is my go to solution in ultras as by myself I am very navigationally challenged.
Very informative video, mate. I will not be purchasing the fenix 8 anytime soon as i purchased the fenix 7x pro sapphire solar about 9 months ago. And tbh Garmins pricing is too high for what you're getting with the new fenix 8
I don’t blame you Leon! You already have a fantastic watch and unless you need a speaker and mic (a quiet one at that) there are no massive differences between the two x
@ActiveIdeas The fenix 8 looks and sounds more the urban explorer than an adventurer, thru-hiker. I just finished a week out in the middle of nowhere hunting/camping and am glad to have had the fenix 7x on rather than my old G Shock Rangeman GPRB1000. Anyway, thanks for the reply.
@@ActiveIdeas tnx. I will probably buy epix pro sapphire for 300€ less then F8. Still great watch with alot similarities. And I dont need mic and speaker aswell. 😅
There is a feature from Fenix 7 that i can't find in 8 about navigation: in the navigations options, Explore nearby, i can't find the option to find Mountain paths. In the Fenix 7 there is the option "around me" that shows all peaks nearby and let you choose one to view the path.
@@ActiveIdeas thanks, i already whatched that but i still can't find the way to tell to the watch to show me the peak and paths nearby in the option "Explore nearby". The Fenix 7 has a feature named "around me" that shows the maps with all POI nearby, expecially peaks and let you choose one and tell the watch bring me there showing the path. There is a very cool feature that i can't believe they removed from 8. The only way i found to choose a peak and see the path on the watch is to manually search it on the map and click on it, but it is very uncomfortable especially when you are doing an activity.
43mm is way too small and shorter battery life. I have owned the 51mm (Enduro 2) and it's pretty chunky and a bit uncomfortable, so I'd probably go for the 47mm for a decent balance of battery life and size. To each their own though!
You’re not wrong. I’m approaching a week of testing and I’m not loving the 4 day battery life, I also struggled with how small the screen was for maps when I got lost at the coast.. could have done with more screen real estate. Tbh.. I’m really wanting to try the Enduro 3.. it looks like a less bulky casing than the Enduro 2
I haven’t successfully got the microphone to do anything yet 🫶🏽🤣 It’s unbelievably basic (quite a lot of marketing hype at the moment)! This is a hard no unfortunately 😬 I’ll mention it in my next video.. maybe Garmin will add it through updates if they see this is a requested feature.
In Fenix 7x in shortcut option there was reference point shortcut. . It will open Compass with red indicators lift or right. Depends on the point u save within same compass without going to map. Can u check pls. It’s give compass direction with red indicators like the one u show also give how far or close to the point , without going to map u can save way point in compass .
im here after Joe Rogans latest episode shitting on this watch because it shuts off in his cold plunge and watched your video and you mention him and cold plunges lmao
@@ActiveIdeastelefon ile konuşabilmek benim için önemli. İzlediğim videolarda fenix 8 in biraz yavaş olduğu söyleniyor. Bu güncelleme ile alakalımı ? Ya da gerçekten böyle mi ?
I think the Fenix 8 being slow is linked to the chipset. It’s really like this. It’s also running new software which could be slowing things down. All this said, it’s still a great watch.. I just think for $1000 maybe we should expect more
@@ActiveIdeas it is in the google play store. I can't share a link here, my comment will get deleted. There was even a locus app made specifically for watches.
Just had another look... I might be wrong but I think you're right. There's no way to type an address into the navigate-to function.. looks like you're stuck with using the map to physically finding the address and then creating the course. Pretty sure you can use the app though.. or use apps maps to search for address and send the location to your Garmin (takes 2 seconds with bluetooth)
@@ActiveIdeas Thanks a lot for that info! Still not a google maps replacement as it seems... When you navigate or start a navigation, the menus are all in the context of sport activity. Recently i found very convenient to use google maps on watch when navigating with walking directions. But those are 1 day battery life watches...
It's still pretty disappointing to me to see how slowly the map renders when you move it with your finger. When you do this on an apple watch SE in the workoutdoors app it's super fast and 5 times more expensive watch updates the tile in 2 seconds? Are they serious? Look at 1:25 - if you're in a race you basically don't even want to touch it. Why doesn't the navigation line change colour based on the incline of the terrain. People will mock apple watch but it's only weakness is the battery.
You should see how quick/stable the Suunto is these days haha. It’s surprising to me how quickly the tables have turned in terms of software bugs & stability 🤣 There were many times the maps took ageeess to refresh but I’ve cut the video to speed it up (I didn’t fancy uploading an hour long video worth of waiting for a watch to refresh). Tbf.. you would only ever touch the watch if you were lost or wanting to investigate a track. The watch automatically refreshes when following a course and I never noticed it being too bad ❤️ Remember this is all being calculated completely independently of the phone too. Correct me if I’m wrong but you have to download workoutdors maps and if you get lost or decide on the day to change your route.. you’ll need your phone again and you’re screwed x
As I said I was “scrolling like a lunatic” so I can look past the refresh rate. It’s not amazing but.. it works. One thing I can’t look past is the bugs, glitches, and crashes. You wouldn’t believe how many I’ve already seen.. unacceptable for a $1000 watch
@@ActiveIdeas But it was way to slow even when you not scrolled like a lunatic... Take a 10 year old mobile phone and it can handle a bigger screen a lot faster. A watch in this price range shouldn't even flicker for a fraction of a second. To me it doesn't look like its even that much faster than their older watches. But its kind of the trademark for Garmin, their latest GPS:es, dog trackers and so on is also very slow in the maps compared to old mobile phones (and in those cases they cant even use the sizes as excuses)
as long as Garmin keeps getting cheaper and cheaper its watches how does it really do it I can't understand only €1200 you tell her now let's make sure they don't take them away
Garmin Customer service is horrible...my watch failed after 3 years. They could care less...they try and get you to buy new instead of taking care of you. I now have a $1000 paperweight.
@@901pics This EXACT thing happened to Abie on this channel which is what caused her to check out Suunto instead! Personally I’ve had an okay experience with Garmin’s customer service but I too also think it should be better.
You can’t spell? (edited) Jokes aside, I’m from the UK and many people here call it Fenix & Phoenix. I have no idea which is correct & use both depending on where in the country I am (accents) 🤣 If Garmin reply to my email this will be the first thing I ask them.. ‘how-do-I-pronounce-it?’🙈
@@ActiveIdeasAll I said was you pronounce product name incorrectly, then you got snidey with me because I used the edit function to rephrase my question.. Not cool..
I definitely have some frustrations myself. Lots of bugs, glitches & crashing on my Fenix 8. I’m not sure but it wouldn’t surprise me if Suunto has more tricks up its sleeve 🙈 Stay tuned
@ActiveIdeas thanks for your reply, i really hope Suunto will suprise us with best in class allround sport watch with MIP display, 47 mm with a torch light that will be the end of garmin.
I must admit… I’m not seeing any obvious improvements of speed from the 965.. like I said in the video.. the experience seemed very similar which is surprising considering this costing $500 more. I’ve also seen LOTS more bugs/glitches and unexpected shutdowns on this watch. On the 965 I had none. I know it hasn’t been mentioned by any reviewers yet but I almost got the impression this launch was rushed. The software is glitchy as hell.. maybe they’re worried about the Apple Watch Ultra 3 coming out next week.
This video was a lot of work 🙈 Please SHARE, like, comment and drop a sub ❤️ Let’s gooooo 🔥

I had Garmin Fenix 2, 5X, 5X plus and I switched to the Tactix 7 with the awesome aviation capabilities. I think the AMOLED screen on the Fenix 8 is stunning. Informative video, well done.
The note on the screen to body ratio with the smaller size wasn’t something I’ve seen elsewhere yet. Reminds me of the Suunto Race S.
Yeah, I had to read the dives about three times as I couldn’t believe it 🤣 Nice to know the 43mm watch (let’s call it the Fenix 8s) has got a spec bump which makes it offer the best screen to casing ratio 👏🏽
I thought the same. I’m dropping a Race S comparison video soon.

Very useful, because explanations on how to use maps during an activity are not mentioned in the Garmin documentation, even though it's the area that has evolved the most. Also, I haven't found such well-presented information anywhere else, well done and thanks!

@@ActiveIdeas arrived after 2 days been using it since Monday
Yes go! 🔥How you getting on with it!?
Great video Kings thank you looking at the Enduro 3 and how it compares
Thankyou Tom!! Enduro 3 videos coming later this week ❤️
Great video🤙🏻 with really great insights. Thanks very much😎
Top fella! Thanks for dropping by ❤️
Awesome video.. mind blown with all the features
Not too shabby hey!! 😉
Needed this. Just got my orange 8
Hell yeah! The navigation features alone make this an awesome buy! Good luck with it 🔥
Thanks for the video. I should have mine in a few days 🎉 Subscribed!
Absolute legend Tom! Cheers 🔥 You’re going to love it 🤘
I'm considering upgrading from my Instinct to the new Fenix. I was curious if it's possible to build a course directly on the watch by selecting points on a map, and I found exactly what I was looking for in this video. Thanks for the helpful content!
So glad I could help Oleg ❤️ Let’ssss gooooo
Cool video, thanks! Just bought my Fenix 8 this Saturday so still exploring too! What Watchface are you using?
Yess, it’s nice to have a new gadget on the wrist. Lots to learn with the Fenix 8, I found it abit intimidating at first 🤣 This is one of the stock watch faces… I just scrolled down and picked it 🫶🏽
Great video 🔥🔥🔥😍. Can you please make a video with Fenix 8 Solar , how the screen looks outdoors using such navigation functions . Please .
The Amoled display dimming itself drives me nuts.
Hahahaha, I feel you bro. Try filming it
Contratulations.
Are you satisfied with the new watch? I also have the 7x pro. I don't like the screen that's so dim.
It has been really fun to use and test.. for $1000 though, I don't think I'm "satisfied" unfortunately. This is a complete different story for the Enduro 3 though.. so far.. im loving this!
Great video, I’ve got the epix 2 pro and not sure the upgrade is worth it at present.
Hey mate! Yeah I think stick with the Epix 2 pro.. tbh, wouldn’t surprise me if Garmin dropped the Fenix 8 Pro in less than a year 🤣
Great video 👏👏👏👏
Thankyou my friend
hello, very nice review, what do you think, between the fenix 8 and Apple ultra 3, what would you choose, I'm in doubt. Thank you!
Tbh.. for the money.. definitely get the Apple Watch Ultra 3 if you’re looking to buy a watch now. I’ve seen lots of glitches and bugs on Fenix 8. If you want a Garmin I say get the Enduro 3 😍 Or wait for the Fenix 8 Pro which is probably coming out in January 2025 anyway 🤣🙈
Great video Kings!
❤️❤️❤️
Do more stuff with Abbie, also 🤩👌
@robertmay7331 ❤️❤️
I really enjoyed your video !! Kuddos !!
You’re too kind!! Kudos to you too 🔥
Is there the option of having just a big arrow on the screen that gives the direction you should be walking on a course (not the tiny arrow on the track), for instance pointing left when need to take the left fork at a junction?
Thing is, I 100% Agree with him. 😬
Your content is inspiring.
Keep it up. 🙏
Cheers Rory! Massively appreciate it! Yeah the confusion around screen sizes is mental now.. I preferred having Epix & Fenix so difference between models was clearer 🤣
I have to admit that Fenix 8 solar 51mm with the thin bezel looks sexy as fock haha, great choice mate!
I lovvve how the 43mm feels
Thanks again mate, means the world!
That’s for sure. The new gen makes no sense at all. Get the last one. Or better a Suunto race s. Much more value for the money
You can find it for cents/pennies and it does 99% of watch the new watches do 🫶🏽🔥
Hope this helped
It’s hard to argue with the Suunto Race S tbh.. it has no competition at its price range 👏🏽
Thanks for the video, subscribed! Would you do a video comparing 7s vs 8 43mm for all the smaller wrists men out there?😅
I’ve got a video deep diving into the size of the 43mm very soon! It feels amazing .. no different from the 42mm. The only difference is battery life .. I’m getting 3-4 days in Fenix 8 which would have been more like 5-11 on the Fenix 7s with more training than I’m doing now 😬🙏🏽❤️
@@ActiveIdeas will look forward to it soon!!
Lots more videos live now 🔥
Tactix 7 Amoled also does all this, but the processing speed of the maps can be slow at times.
I’m sure the Garmin Fenix 8 Pro will be out in January 2025 anyway, maybe we get faster processing times then 🤣
Thinking about purchasing the 47 mm version, would you recommended it over an Epix Pro 2 given that I don't care about mic and speaker?
You don’t care about the Speaker & Mic? I would say DO NOT get the Fenix 8.. save some pennies and treat yourself to an awesome Epix Gen 2 Pro. Also.. if you’re not too fussed about AMOLED, I would say the Enduro 3 is the best Garmin you can buy right now.. it’s a good price too ❤️
Unfortunately it's still very slow when moving through the map and the calculating. I was hoping that the processor would be improve.
Little to no improvements on that front unfortunately! Maybe we’ll see a speed bump in the Fenix 8 Pro MicroLED
Awesome video as always!! Do you know if all these navigation features are the same as the Garmin enduro 3?
They’re exactly the same just better battery life 🔥 I used maps today for a 20 mile adventure along the Beach.. my Fenix 8 lost 52% battery life. Wouldn’t surprise me if the Enduro 3 was still in the high 90% 🤣 Video covering this coming out next week 🫶🏽
@@ActiveIdeas sounds good! I’ll be looking forward to seeing it!
@@ActiveIdeas thank you my friend, I appreciate the help.
These are the functions ive been looking for, just wish it was within my price budget. Any similar watches with same functions but cheaper?
Great offline navigation aren’t they! 🔥 For a more affordable price range check out out the 955.. I have a video on it. Or the forerunner 965. It’s also well worth checking out Suunto Race S, not as many features but does the basics and it’s only $35
** $350 lol 🤣
Good luck! 🔥
Hi, I was wondering if you could tell me if the Shazam app will work with the 8. Love your videos 😊
Great content.
Great comment. ❤️
Do you set the checkpoints as a seperate datascreen via waypoints?
You can if you want! To add checkpoints you’ll need to use the Garmin Connect app though 🫶🏽
OR if you really want unbelievable battery life thing ultra marathon look at Suunto for Amoled options.. they’re working some dark magic to get their watches to stay alive for so long 🔥
But you know that you can update your map in your Epix Pro? I dont really see any reason to upgrade from my Epix Pro 2 to this new watch.
You’re not wrong mate; you already have a fantastic watch! Especially now it’s cheaper, hard to not argue against it 🔥😍
What you prefer Fenix 8 solar with MIP or Amoled 47 mm and why ?
Pick a random hike and set it up on the Fenix 8 before you go. Then go on the hike and show what the watch displays please.
I don’t want to get stranded 🙈🤣 #IAintNotFool
Sounds like a sick adventure.. funny enough im going to test out some Casio watches for my next videos. A pleasure mate
Does the Enduro 3 have the same maps and Map features?
Yes it does. Check my channel for this video on a few days 🔥🤘
I’ll stick with my Suunto race 😂
I’ll stick to my Suunto Vertical 🤣 Although.. the Enduro 3 could get it off my wrist.. we’ll see 😉
Any difference in mapping F8 vs epix pro?
No joke.. it might even be slower haha. Apart from that. No major differences that I can see 👊🏽
@@ActiveIdeas tnx. I will probably buy epix pro sapphire for 300€ less then F8. Still great watch with alot similarities. And I dont need mic and speaker aswell. 😅
@marko-182 you won’t regret it!! 👊🏽🔥
There is a feature from Fenix 7 that i can't find in 8 about navigation: in the navigations options, Explore nearby, i can't find the option to find Mountain paths. In the Fenix 7 there is the option "around me" that shows all peaks nearby and let you choose one to view the path.
Watch this video for all the information you need. Explore nearby is 11:10 minutes in 👌🏽 Hope this helps! Such a cool feature 🔥
Hell yeah 🔥
❤️
I still prefer the better battery from the 51mm..
True! I’m going to get the Enduro 3 for personal use I think! 🙈
Is it possible to search address by microphone while navigation?
I haven’t successfully got the microphone to do anything yet 🫶🏽🤣 It’s unbelievably basic (quite a lot of marketing hype at the moment)! This is a hard no unfortunately 😬 I’ll mention it in my next video.. maybe Garmin will add it through updates if they see this is a requested feature.
Is there Reference Point option. Like F7 . Can’t find it.
Can you explain more what you mean by reference point? And I’ll have a look
🙈
In Fenix 7x in shortcut option there was reference point shortcut. . It will open Compass with red indicators lift or right. Depends on the point u save within same compass without going to map. Can u check pls. It’s give compass direction with red indicators like the one u show also give how far or close to the point , without going to map u can save way point in compass .
I just looked again.. it looks like you're taking about the "Project Waypoint" feature. Yes. It's still here! 🔥
im here after Joe Rogans latest episode shitting on this watch because it shuts off in his cold plunge and watched your video and you mention him and cold plunges lmao
Haha love this! I’m a massive Joe Rogan fan, which episode was this!? I’d love to check it out 🤣🤣
Just found it hahaha
how to adjust the gps?...i can't have the itinerary, but the direction only, when i want to go somewhere with my bicycle.
You can see the map, the direction to go and arrows of direction.. what ride you need? 🌟
@@ActiveIdeas sometime I see the map, sometimes no. Arrow yes, direction yes. On bicycle.
Thankyou for this information. I have had issues of map visibility too during my testing
When i hit the saved waypoints the watch does nothing. Even with having saved gpx files loaded
Doesn’t surprise me! The navigation features have been a mess by the looks of it with all the glitches and bugs
Epix pro gen 2 & Fenix 8 ? Hansini almalıyım ?
Epix Gen2 Pro! 🔥 get it on a deal 😉 Both are great though
I just think for $1000 maybe we should expect more
have you tried locus?
What’s this
@@ActiveIdeas I used locus back when I was active duty. Offline maps. Funny, you are the second person to have no idea what locus is. 5m downloads

@@ActiveIdeas hahaha we waiting your review🙏🏻🙏🏻🖐🏻 have a nice day.

Is it possible to search ana navigate to a city address with Garmin?
Yes.. and completely offline too I believe which is crazyyy cool 👏🏽🔥
@@ActiveIdeas Asking because I didn't see where and how to even search for address? Also huawei watches don't allow that, you can search just places.
For now.. this is as good as it gets 🙈
Still awaiting your Vertix 2S review😅
Sorry bro 😅🤣 This doesn’t pay the bills yet, time is limited ❤️👊🏽
@@ActiveIdeas haha fair enough 😂😎
Insane that they can release a clock 2024 for that price and it still can't handle maps without being so slow.... Terrible refresh rate.
Honestly I’m surprised at how smooth using the Suunto watches are compared to Garmin in 2024. Oh how times have changed 🙈🤣
as long as Garmin keeps getting cheaper and cheaper its watches how does it really do it I can't understand only €1200 you tell her now let's make sure they don't take them away
They are expensive 🤣 But they’re also smoking⌚️😍
Unfortunately this is true haha
3:40 the calculation time is inacceptable - my micro wave would do a better job.
Haha! My Casio calculator is quicker at computing too 😉
Maps looks super laggy
Could definitely be smoother 😅
@@ActiveIdeas ye it is a bit of sad, when u pay 1k and it is not smooth
You think this is bad, you should see my latest video 🤣
Garmin Customer service is horrible...my watch failed after 3 years. They could care less...they try and get you to buy new instead of taking care of you. I now have a $1000 paperweight.
@@901pics This EXACT thing happened to Abie on this channel which is what caused her to check out Suunto instead! Personally I’ve had an okay experience with Garmin’s customer service but I too also think it should be better.
Maps are the same as previous versions. The ‘calculating’ has always been there. Assume this is your first Fenix/Epix

Jokes aside, I’m from the UK and many people here call it Fenix & Phoenix. I have no idea which is correct & use both depending on where in the country I am (accents) 🤣 If Garmin reply to my email this will be the first thing I ask them.. ‘how-do-I-pronounce-it?’🙈

I’m just joking ☺️, hence “jokes aside” ❤️
I'm dissapointed in garmin, I'm waiting for the succecor of the Suunto Vertical, will be there a succecor this year?
I definitely have some frustrations myself. Lots of bugs, glitches & crashing on my Fenix 8. I’m not sure but it wouldn’t surprise me if Suunto has more tricks up its sleeve 🙈 Stay tuned
@ActiveIdeas thanks for your reply, i really hope Suunto will suprise us with best in class allround sport watch with MIP display, 47 mm with a torch light that will be the end of garmin.
Yess, LED flashlight should just be standard on premium sports watches now 🔥
The processor is just as weak as in previous models. You have to wait for maps to refresh. Solar charging is just as useless as in previous models.
Also.. fire anyone who Denys this… I filmed all the glitches and bugs. 🤣 You wouldn’t believe how hard it was to set up the watch for this video 😬
@ActiveIdeas Hello. Is very good the Enduro 3? I have E3. Please let me know 🙏
Video coming soon my friend ❤️
