A person I grew up with in my home town had just posted on her FaceBook page: "Why do so many young people HATE America." I was appalled and gave her quite a rebuke. Then I turn on the DNC Convention and this was what they started with and I burst into tears!! THIS is a stark reminder that no matter HOW MUCH the "dear Leader" tries to divide us -- we are still one nation!! Just a stunning rendition!

Most of the people I know who support the president don't bow uncritically to every decision and statement he has made. THAT would be worship. Most people I know are pragmatic about their appreciation of what he has accomplished, and they appreciate that he did no bait and switch in his presidency as MOST presidents have done in the past. They like what he gets done; they don't necessarily like him or his brashness or tweets. Neither do they wish to spend time with him in a social way or even act like him. Many who NOW support him didn't vote for him, but they recognized that the media's representations of his motivations and actions DO NOT line up with their own appraisal of what he has accomplished.
They get their source of news from various sources. Those who assume that they are being brainwashed by one source of news are telling more about themselves than about those they critique.
And, for the record, I said, "One America." Putting quotation marks around a misquote is misleading because quotation marks mean that you are quoting, and you are not. Then, putting [sic] after what you ostensibly quoted, outside the quotation marks, is not how the word is generally used. The Latin term "sic" ("thus", "just as"; in full: sic erat scriptum, "thus was it written") should be placed in brackets WITHIN the quotation marks to indicate that you are quoting something that is incorrect, but it is how the original author wrote it. I see that it now has a new usage, which is "to indicate that it is intended exactly as printed."

I don't think I've every cried listening to the National Anthem before. We have never more deeply needed to come together more as a country. Love and inclusion will ultimately trupmph over hate. The truth will ultimately shed light on the lies. The power of the people will trump Trump. Get out there and vote people! It’s not live on Zoom. You can’t synchronize like that on Zoom - if it was live, just one persons connection stuttering for a fraction of a millisecond could be devastating for the whole performance. Videos are all recorded, sent in, probably enhanced audio (normal for situations like this), and stitched together. This wouldn’t be possible without talented singers AND talented editors.

For Americans who agree with the Democrats’ vision, and case against Trump, the lyrics are especially resonant: A fallback base, bombarded though a long night after losing control of the nation’s capital. I'm not much for symbols. Symbols, whether they be flags, songs, statues, words, without any sincere meaning behind them and action taken to realize the meaning they are supposed to represent, are nothing but stone, cloth, hot air used to manipulate people. I bristle every time "God Bless America" morphs into "Take me Out to the Ballgame" in a baseball stadium during the seventh-inning stretch while people in the stands and at home run to the toilet or get a beer, all of it, most importantly, having to fit into the amount of time X and Y Company paid for TV and radio commercials. That's supposed to reflect our patriotism? What a tissue-paper thin façade of patriotism that is. HOWEVER, all these young people performing our national anthem with this much joy and serenity (which anyone should be able to read on their faces) was incredibly moving, because the emotions were heartfelt, and simply because I always tear up when I see young people happy and dedicated to working together in life. Makes you think maybe we should be optimistic about a bright future even in the dark days of today. My God, was this great, or what!
Thank you for this comment. I share your views on this completely, especially about the AWFUL "God Bless America" being forced on us at every baseball game. Time to give up that terrible song.
