  • How to make a travel journal entry that you love both during the process and once it's all done is something I've been working on for the last few months. And since I've been getting a bunch of emails and DMs from people hoping to make a travel journal, but not knowing where to start, I thought it could be fun to walk you through my creative process via this entry about our adventures in Athens, Greece. I give tips on how to choose a color palette, what mediums I love best for journaling, and why I think urban sketching is a great tool to rely on both for sparking memories and for organing the page. This is a little bit different from our normal journal with me sessions, but I hope you enjoy all the info!
I'd love to hear your tips for journaling!! So if you have any other ideas please leave them in the comments so we can all learn from each other :)
    Love,
    Dana

I did not even watch the video yet, but wanted to take the time to say thank you. Thank you for making videos about my 2 favorite topics, vanlife and journaling. Thank you for just being you. For focusing on art, beauty and calm, instead of all that overrated hipster stuff other vanlife couples do to show off. I could watch your videos for hours and hours - in fact that’s what I was planning, when I came here just now and saw your new vid popping up. Save travels and all the best! With many greeting from Germany. XXX

What I actually really like to do is collecting a lot of tickets, flyers, brochures,.. to stick in the journal. Also I like to stick in photos I have made and some poems that fit :) Thank you for your inspiring videos!!!!

I 100% agree that urban sketching helps you slow down and enjoy the places you travel to. My partner and I did it in Prague at the St. Charles bridge. We sat there for hours sketching with some fancy markers we got in Berlin and saw so many tourists come, snap a photo and go. Prague is now one of our favorite cities that we went to on that trip ♡

Beautiful again! Although I wish you were going to read the bit you wrote for Athens. I always love hearing your descriptions, they are like poetry.

I love your composition, sketches, explorations, dialogue, pleasant voice, and demos!!! I am subscribed and save all your vids. I love going on adventures "with you."
This is particularly true for Ireland, Scotland, and did you visit and sketch England? All 3 are my heritage.
Thank you for creating your channel! As mentioned below my comments, I love your van life, as well as other tiny living and minimalism paths.

those little sculptures are a mixture of votive offerings, small pitchers or oil flasks. sometimes a mixture of two things like an oil votive offering in the shape of something the believer wanted. A lot of them are repetitive and kinda all blend in together but some are SO cute and expressive. I enjoyed seeing their various ways to depict hedgehogs and owls.

This reminds me of my experimental sketchbooks I would do on my textile degree!! Lush! I would use double sided sticky tape rather than glue though... stops the wrinkles. Enjoy your break and I look forward to your return x

I am just getting started with journaling again. I have not been able to do much just yet. When I got my first journal, I was forced to move from the place I was living, so my actual journal is in storage right now. I want to start journaling. My thing is that I am not an artist, so I will have to take pictures or get pictures from different pamphlets and such from different places. One place that I hope to get to go to one day is Ireland, as my daughter and I have traced back ancestry to our family land. That is so exciting, so I am looking forward to traveling now that I am retiring.

As soon as I saw the title of this one, I was super excited and jumped to press play! Thank you for sharing your process on this. I've been making bullet journals for the past 3 years now and started making collages on greeting cards, but I haven't done collaging in an actual journal yet because it seems like such a big leap for something I'm not that skilled in. So this helps me so much! xo

Early in the video you spoke about how your urban sketching pushed you to remember certain things. In that way it shapes your memory. In my experience with traveling its more moments, people, etc., so you might think about snapping a photo of a moment (like a nice dinner or whatever) and sketching it later, or at that time if you have time. I guess what I’m trying to say is is your travel journal reflective of the actual experiences you want to remember? Might be a fun way to add some dimension

I’ve always desired to do a travel journal, but I allow other things to get in the way, and know that if I don’t do it immediately, it won’t get done at all. Lack of discipline 😢
