“Doing what the locals do” is great if you can convince yourself it’s what you’re doing. I’ve lived in my current city for over 20 years and I honestly have no idea what we locals do. Walk at the park one day a week and watch TV at home most nights? 😀 The London Pass was essential to my wife and me for a few reasons. One, I’m not a local, and despite how many videos about London travel there are, you could never really feel like a local. It’s awfully tough to convince yourself to just “hang out” where the locals do and hope for some kind of slow, carefully planned authentic experience to happen. “Doing what the locals do” may sound more carefree, but I assure you that you would pre-plan just as much, if not more, to figure it all out. What the London Pass provides are ready-made options you don’t really need to sweat about. And what made it even greater for me was that we paid for the pass long in advance and it felt like once we got to London it was cool having so many “free” options to do! I don’t have to tell anyone that London is expensive. Not having to keep shelling out $$ for everything significantly eases the day-to-day money strain. It’s like getting the pass to go on all the rides at the amusement park. Doesn’t mean you have to go on all the rides. But you don’t have to keep counting $$ all day. As well, that we paid for the pass about 8 months in advance may have helped us forget about the money we initially spent, but it didn’t make us forget about the money we were saving when we were there. If that makes sense. And if something feels free, I’m much more adventurous to try something I might otherwise convince myself is too expensive in the moment. For instance, going up The Shard is quite expensive for two people ($120 Canadian) but felt like a cool bonus to go up with the pass. And skip the line to buy tickets. If not for the pass, we definitely wouldn’t have done it. Yeah, it’s a tourist thing, but the view of London up there is still incredible. Tourist or not. The pass quickly pays for itself, too. Knock out 2-3 places a day (not unreasonable) and you’ll more than save money with the pass. The pass doesn’t mean you can’t explore, wander, or just sit a couple hours at a restaurant patio, drinking coffee, or enjoying a few drinks. It just helps in filling the time in between relaxing and taking all the breaks you’d like. I’d 1 million % recommend the London Pass. It helps give you direction, saves you money, and allows you to be more adventurous. After a couple trips to London, you’d obviously travel there very differently, and not need the pass. You could then be more like a local, maybe. I do think, though, that if I ever go to a place enough times to feel like a local, it’s time to explore another exciting place!
I was in London this past April and used the London Pass and the Oyster card. Best purchase EVER! I saved time and money! Thank you! Oh, and I'm going back next May and bringing my sister along. And yes, we'll be purchasing the London Pass again!
Can I buy The London Pass when I am in London Yes, we have a number of retail partners in London that sell The London Pass, including one which is situated upstairs from our Redemption Desk, located at 11a Charing Cross Road. You can also purchase the pass online in London and collect in that day, or have the pass sent to your Smartphone with our Mobile London Pass option. Note: The London Pass only (without Oyster Travelcard) is available at retailers in London; you can purchase The London Pass with Travel package at the Redemption Centre or online. Where can I buy The London Pass in London The London Pass can be purchased at most major railway and Underground stations including: - Heathrow (TFL Information Centre and British Hotel Reservation Centre) - Gatwick (British Hotel Reservation Centre) - Victoria (TFL Information Centre) - Liverpool St (TFL Information Centre) - Euston (TFL Information Centre) - Piccadilly Circus (TFL Information Centre and HotelWorld) - Paddington (British Hotel Reservation Centre) - King’s Cross St Pancras (TFL Information Centre) - Earls Court, Tower Hill and many more... Note: The London Pass with Oyster Travelcard is not available from retailers in London, only The London Pass on its own. Can I buy The London Pass at the Airport You can buy the London Pass (without the transport element) at the British Hotels Reservation Centres at Heathrow , Stansted and Gatwick airports; the Transport for London Information Centre at Heathrow; or the Hotel and Travel Reservation desks at Gatwick South, Luton and Stansted.
I've visited London 3 times, with each stay being either 1 or 2 weeks. Every time, I bought a 6 day London Pass, and a 7 day travelcard (or 2) on my regular Oyster card, and every time, I saved money on my sightseeing and transport around town. It's definitely worthwhile to plan out your daily itineraries in advance to make the most of the pass. Now, I might be running out of attractions to see... Maybe just a 3 day Pass next time.
I went for 9 days! It was worth it because I didn't have to worry about having pounds on me/use my credit card! Most places open at 9/10 am and last entry is about 4/5 pm, you have to be quick about places (don't spend more than 2 hours) and plan to see all the places in the area you are at if you want to see it to make it work it.
Thanks for this video. That's a good summary of the pros and cons. Personally I think 3 days is about the sweet spot. In 3 days with the pass I went to 15 different attractions and that was just about enough. By day 4 I saw most of what interested me and moved on to other things like going to west end shows and taking coach tours. One warning for night owls though - a lot of the attractions close around roughly 5:00 PM so plan your day out carefully to avoid missing things.
Hi from NZ! Just came across your vids. I am travelling to Europe and Uk in Oct/Nov. You answer so many of the questions I havent been able to get answers for (even with 10 months worth of research!). Thank you! Love the videos :)
To save money, you need to rush and get attractions in 2-3 days and it isn’t a slow paced holiday, at least for us. I did a spreedsheet comparation and found out that for 5 attractions spread in 3 days, it was cheaped without London Pass. Thanks for you video!!
hi! i love your videos... i'm going to London, Paris and Italy this octuber by myself.. and I'm printing all yours tips and email... so thank you very much for spend your time to help people to travel...it's really helping me with it!! good luck!😊
Thank you so much for your recommendation and advice Jess! I made sure to set up the alert to know when the London Pass was on sale and was able to get my 6 Day Pass + Vistor Oyster card pass for a fair & discounted price! Looking forward to my trip to London in June!!!
Awesome! I'm so happy I could help you save cash (especially as the discount on the 6-day one is usually pretty good!) Thanks for your lovely comment :)
hii!! Thank you for your videos.. really informative.. I really appreciate if you do a video about students visiting London and your tips for them.. thank you so much
I bought the 6-day pass for £139, and it was worth every penny! I even went to Windsor Castle. The LP includes the to-&-fro train rides (each direction £10.50) to Slough. Make it an afternoon trip cos the train ticket is only free after 12:30pm every noon. The train closest to 12:30 is the 12:50. So make sure you reach Charing Cross (the tube/train station to set off to Slough) by 12:30. I also went to Hampton Court. My god, after crossing the bridge & turning into the gate, you see the magnificent facade of Hampton Court - it just gave me the chills! If you're into Henry 8th, the 6 wives and all that executions and intrigue of that Tudor period, you just have to come to Hampton Court! I also went up to the 69th-storey of the Shard - after the Shard, the viewing galleries of Tate Modern and the Sky Garden pale miserably in comparison (both free; they are just not that tall). I also had the hellish workout that is St. Paul's Cathedral (those who've been would know what I mean). I stood in line and queued for 40 mins to enter the Churchill War Rooms (at the back of the street just next to 10 Downing Street) - the museum portion of this made it all worthwhile. I also used my LP for the 1-day hop-on-hop-off bus tour - there is no way I'm going to walk all over Mayfair/Oxford Circus/Picadilly Circus, etc. And I haven't even started on the 2 days I spent on the attractions that are on both banks of the Thames!
For those who are visiting London (only) for 6-7 days. I encourage you to buy the discounted 6-day pass, which I paid £139 for. In my 6 days there I went to 17 attractions covered by the London Pass. These 17 attractions would have cost me £295 in total if I purchased ticket at the door. FYI, the London Pass does not include 1 ride of the Eye, Buckingham Palace suites tour and Mdm Tussaud's - info as of 01 June 2019.
Thanks for all of your London videos and info! Sis and I will be heading there in 12 more sleeps :) Looking forward to seeing every single thing we can in 8 days :)
You're very welcome Joe! How exciting, you'll be here so soon :) Have you decided on getting the London Pass, or will you "pass" on it (see?! See what I did! ;)
Oh yes, we purchased the 6 day pass via the website on sale for 20% off. Sis has been to London twice before and she was all for us taking the plunge. We have our daily itinerary already set :) We'll be a couple of busy bees trying to take in all the sites. We also booked a trip to Stonehenge and Bath. I'm so looking forward to LONDON! :) Keep up the great work, I'll make sure to keep watching.
Great videos! Do the days we purchase on a London Pass need to be used in consecutive order? For example, if I'm visiting for 9 days, purchase a 6-day pass, can I spread out those 6 days across the 9 days any way I want? Or do I have to use the 6 days all in a row? Thank you!
hi thanks for your video! i am going to visit london in late july and wanted to buy the london pass. At minute 2:14 you talk about fast track included in the london pass to 7 attractions. Could you tell me which are they? I would like to organize my visit in time, thank you very much!
@@jor4557 I was confused about the credits as well. We crammed a lot into the two day pass, ignoring the credit part. It seems that your only parameters concerning the pass is "time." One can only do so much in a given day.
Hi I have questions not on the London Pass but on what to do around November in London. I've seen the video posted for what to do around winter time but just wanted to see if you had any tips on Fall time. I'm heading to London this coming November with my husband and want to know what's worth seeing around that time of the year for the 2 weeks we will be there. Thank you so much for all your help and I absolutely love your videos.
Thank you so much for quick replay. one more question which place not allow camera in side can they hold my camera in locker and give me back when I come out? or we should not take camera that king of places at all. Thanks.
Your videos are excellent. I told couple of my friends about it. Thanks for doing this. Is London pass and Oyster card one and the same? Like you said in this video, I buy 3 days card. Do I still have to buy the Oyster card? I would really appreciate if you could answer.
You can get the pass shipped to you, or you can pick it up in London, or you can get a mobile version of the ticket, then you show it either to the driver or the staff member standing at the stop. More about ticket options here! : www.londonpass.com/shipping-collection-for-london-pass/
Hi Jess!! Thank you for the video! I still have doubts about the London Pass, I am going for 10days in December, as my first visit there I want to see the tourists attractions which I´ve been dreaming of. But also walk as a local in that beautiful christmas season! Is it too crowded those days (before christmas) I mean to save time and money with the pass? And if I book with oyster card, if I run out of credit can I still adding it? Please help!
Hi Berenice, I'm not sure about the crowds, I imagine you'd be fine. Only area I'd try to avoid is Oxford Street/Regent Street because everyone's shopping. You can add credit to the Oyster :)
Hey. Next week I will travel to London with a friend. Few days later my Sister will visit london too with her friend. So my Question is. Can I purchase for example a 10 day pass so my Sister can use it too when I leave? Or am I only allowed to use every attraction just 1x with the London Pass ?
I know this post is from last August, but I'm going to London in April for the first time. My travel agent suggested I purchase as TravelCard. Now, I'm wondering if I also need to buy an Oyster Card. Help!
Hi! So the 2-4-1 is different, it can't be used for travel, but to buy cheaper tickets to atttactions around London. Here's a good video that talks about Oyster cards: ua-cam.com/video/5eAZ7JUrkjo/v-deo.html
can you tell what kind of dress will o I need for a nice dinner out in london? little black dress or long black dress ? this is my first time in london
Hi Kristen! Either is fine. Long black dress is more for very fancy restaurants probably, depending on how fancy the dress is-- hard for me to say without seeing it ;)
Thank you so much for making this video! I have two questions. 1. Is this a scam? Are all the tickets real and how would I even show it if I have it on the app? (Online) 2. Is there a limit to how many attractions I can visit?
I was wondering if the London Pass include tours of attractions such as the Tower of London and Westminster Abbey? I'm having some trouble finding if a tour is included or if it's just entry to the attraction.
Ok, question: WHERE do you show the London Pass? Let's say I'm going to the Tower of London. Do I show the London Pass at the ticket booth (to exchange for tickets?) or do I go to the entry gate and show the Pass there and just go in? Where do they actually scan your pass?
Wherever you would show paper tickets. You don't need to exchange the pass to get paper ones, I believe most attractions just see the pass and either scan it or just let you in.
Hey Jess! New here from California. Been to London, but too long ago. I'm sure it's changed a lot😋 I want to buy the London Pass through you. Do I need to enter a code? Also, is Britrail or two together rail worth it. If so would you know which one is best?
Aw thank you so much Dana for supporting the channel. If you click one of the links in the description, that's all you have to do. I appreciate it. I don't know much about Britrail unfortunately, and unless you're here for a couple of months, the two-together deal might not be worth it (I'm also not sure if it's only for residents anyways).
Hey, Jess! This is going to be my first trip to London, I'm really grateful for your videos! I'm thinking about getting a London Pass, but I'm concerned about availability. Mainly I want to get it to save money on different attractions, but I noticed that Buckingham Palace is only available 2 out of the 5 days that I'm going to be in the city. Since I wouldn't have to book ahead of time, does that mean I can visit anytime I want with the pass, even though Buckingham's website says that they're booked? I'm not sure if it's better to just book everything separately, so I won't miss out. But that's much more expensive. I'd hate to be turned away if I take my chances with the pass!
From what I have read, after you buy your London Pass you still have to make your reservations for places that need them, so you still only be able to go on those days.
Hi! So im going to be in London for work and can only do sightseeing on the weekend so would you recommend I buy a two day pass or just go to individual attractions?
If I get a 3 day London Pass, do they need to be consecutive days or can I we use it, say, on a Saturday, Monday, & Weds? Love the videos, very helpful, we'll be there for a week in mid-Sept. Than you, David Shore
Hi again! I have discovered something that really bothered me about the London Pass in following up on your video, and wondered if your followers are aware of it. I often use the Rick Steves travel books which I have found extremely helpful, and they recommend the original and big bus tours, but when I checked on the London Pass website I discovered that neither of them are covered. It seems restricted to a Gray Line trip that runs less frequently and does not seem to be as popular. This seems very misleading not to mention a waste of money and starting off ones trip on a very bad note. Perhaps you could let your followers know about this nasty little trick so that nobody gets fooled as we almost did. Best wishes, David
@@davidshore4286 Are you talking about the hop-on hop-off bus route? The route is clearly marked on the website. Hits a lot of attractions. My wife and I hopped off and on a number of times and had no issues.
Hi Jess! Super excited to visit the UK for the first time next week! I’ve been binge watching your videos to prepare for the trip!😂 One question: I was actually thinking of doing the hop-on-hop-off on day 1 or 2 to help me get the lay of the land and decide what seems really worthwhile. Do u really think it best to save the hop-on-off for last?🤔 My hubby and I are pretty energetic so... I “think” we’ll be ok?🥴🥴🥴
Nice video! I have a question about using the London Pass for museums. How do I know which paid exhibitions are included in the London Pass? Thank you.
The London Museum is free! And massive. More museum than one would ever need. Ha. Trust me, if you take the time to go through it all, you’ll probably not feel much urgency to go to another one. It’s tough work to be a tourist sometime!
Hi, great videos! Very informative! Question: If we have the 3 day London Pass and we decide to go to 2 or 3 places in one day, do we need to book the times at each place for that day or do we just show up with our pass at any time and go in? If we have the pass, do we wait less time in line? Thanks so much!
Hey Mel! You just show up. Some of the attractions will have fast pass lines you’ll be able to use if you have the LP. More details about that can be found on the site :)
Do you know generally how often the London Pass goes on sale? I saw their price increase alert for February. It’s 15-20% off the 6/10 day pass right now, but I didn’t know if I should maybe hold off for a better sale? I know it was just 40% off so I didn’t know if they would have another sale before the price increase. We will be there for 12 Days in July so I’m thinking we might want the pass to help save some money, but I’m not sure yet! Trying to figure out if I should spend some time figuring that out ASAP as the current deal ends Wednesday, or if I could maybe take another week or two.
Hey Rebecca! The sales are always the same and won't get better than that. They can happen fairly often but I'm not sure if it they would have another one before the price increase. My suggestion is to buy now, just in case. Also, have a look at the London Explorer Pass just to see if one will suit your needs better than the other, here's my comprehensive blog post on the pros/cons and how it works: loveandlondon.com/london-explorer-pass-worth/ Hope that helps!
Thank you for your advice! I went ahead and purchased the 6 day pass for me and my Dad. I know there are the 2-4-1 options, but we are traveling at peak time at the end of July and I was worried a lot of the attractions would have a 2-4-1 blackout dates. With the London pass being on sale and still at 2017 prices we could actually save over $200 even if we don't get to everything on our itinerary those days. Plus we will be there for 12 days so we still have time to do other "must see" items on our list without trying to cram it all in! Seemed worth it to buy now rather than see 2-4-1 options be posted later than we can't use and have to pay way more for the LP then.
Thank YOU! I found your channel while planning this trip. I'm enjoying and learning a lot from your videos as I do my research and prepare for my 1st trip to London! :)
Do you know about the credit that is given on the oister card? It says if you use the public transportion it may give a credit back into your card but I didn't really understood that. Thanks for your awesome videos, we are planning to bring my 14yo daughter in August this year. Can't wait!
There’s a daily threshold on the card. I don’t know what it is for all the different passes. Our 5-day Oyster Pass has 50 pounds on it. So that’s 10 pounds/day. If you don’t use 10 pounds for that day, you save it. If you travel more than 10 pounds on a day, you don’t pay more (it covers an unlimited number of transit rides / day during the length of your pass), but then you’ve obviously used up the money on the card for that day. If you didn’t use the pass at all over the 5 days, you would have that money (50 pounds in my case) to use whenever you’d like. I’m not sure you get a refund for any unused money still on the card afterwards, though. You could sell the card, I suppose.
Hi Jess! I'm planning on getting a 3-day London Pass via mobile. It says on the website that I have to redeem the free Bus Tour ticket at one of the Visitor Centre collection points or bus stops ON THE DAY that I plan to use the HOHO ticket. So, if I plan to use the bus ticket on day 3, I have no choice but to wait for the visitor centre to open at 10am before I can get my ticket, is this right?
Yes I think so-- but it's best that you ask London Pass themselves to clarify. By the way, the 3-day passes are on sale at the mo-- get on that! :) bit.ly/2h2O3av
If I buy the London Pass I’m on my own as far as seeing the attraction, correct? The attraction doesn’t come w/ a guided tour on the Pass? If I want a tour, I’d have to book that through a specific organization?
When you buy the explorer pass, and use the hop on hop off, is it good for just 24 hours? My husband and I when we travel anywhere, we always take this tour first to get familiarized with the city the first day. But they are so convinient to go back to the attractions on them, so i cas wondering if we want to use it 2 days, should we buy a pass considering it 2 attractions (one each day) plus all the others (london eye, river boats, etc?) ALso we are traveling with a baby (14 months) we will be "slow pace" and not sure how our days will be. Do you have any attractions that you definitely suggest we try with a very active baby boy who just learned to walk??
The hop-on hop-off pass is good for one day. It’s also just for one specific bus loop / route around the city. It’s not a regular transit bus. (Look up the pass online to see the route.) You can go around the loop as many times as you want. It would take a long time to go around, though! (We went half way around when we went.) Nice to sit on the open upper-deck of the bus on a nice day. I don’t think you’d need it more than one day. Don’t forget you can get an Oyster card with the pass which gives you unlimited transit bus and “underground” transit travel during the length of your pass.
Here is another con of the pass. Illness, transit issues, and other unforeseen uncontrollable variables. Say you get a 3 day pass for a 5 day trip. Once you use the pass for the first time the clock starts and it's only good for consecutive days. Say you use the past for the first day but then on the second day you come down with a bad cold and are slowed down or stuck in bed for two days. I was sick for 2 days of our 5 day trip and I NEVER get sick. I wasn't stuck in bed but there was no way I could have made it to 3 attractions/day on those days. Instead of saving a little money you could end up losing a lot of money. Being sick on a vacation was bad enough.
Hey, did you talk to your travel insurance about this? You can probably get that money back from them? Yeah I guess you're right, but I guess you just had some bad luck really! Sorry to hear you were sick.
Yup, that’s what travel insurance is for. But yeah, getting sick in a trip is the absolute worst. Money is one thing, but lost time is never refundable.
Hello, Since I'm planning 13 days trip to London. Would it better for me to go for 1) 10 days London Pass +travel and a 3 day oyster or 2) 6 days London pass + 13 day oyster. Thank you.
Hey! I'm pretty sure you can use the Oyster card part of a London Pass even when your pass is done being used. But regardless, just get the London Pass for how ever many days you want it for, don't worry about the travel bit because they are two separate things :)
Hello Jess, I've been getting emails since I've subscribed with you and now I would like to know if I purchase the London Pass and download to my phone, may I use it in May 2019? Is it true it is activated from the 1st time that you use it? I'm thinking about getting a 2 day pass and will definitely plan out an itinerary to make the most of my pass. Better clarification would be great! Thank you. Jo
Love and London thanks fore your reply but I'm confused to get london pass without travelling or with travel expenses..I'm thinking of buying 2 days london pass so after that it will not pay for my other days travelling so I'm thinking to go for oyster card with london pass..Is that okay?
we are planning to visit london for 4 days from 1st to 5th January, 2017. The arriving airport will be Gatwick and our hotel is in Ilford. so if we buy 3 days london pass from Gatwick airport, Could we use it to travel from air port to our hotel or what is the best?
Hi Anjalee, if you get the option to add an Oyster Card to your London Pass, you can use the Oyster Card to travel to your hotel. The Oyster Card will also work even when you have run out of London Pass "time".
@@loveandlondon Yes, the Oyster card still works after your pass runs out, but you will have to add more $$ to it. Fortunately, it’s super easy to do. Any transit station has automated tellers that take credit cards you can use to add more money to your card.
You can get it in London, I'm not sure if you can go somewhere to buy it but you can buy it online and use it the same day I think (check the FAQ page)
hi guys im new im thinking of going with my partner ,we are going for one day staying in a hotel same night but what card would i need if i wanted to visit the buckingham palace and madame tausand.
how much does one actually save from the pass? Because nothing is really "free"..you buy the pass (for example for 3 days for 550 euros) and this is your credit for the 3 days?
You can see as much as you want within those days, but you have to work it out against how much you can realistically get done and their individual costs. We have this all worked out in our article here: loveandlondon.com/london-pass-worth/
Did you put your email and name into the box where the progress bar is? I just tested it and it seems like everything is working fine. When you click the button after entering your info and it still doesn't work, just let me know.
Thank you. I also wrote to you on FB. If you accept the message I won't bother you much but could use a private tip or two for my upcoming visit. Thanks.
David Wood oh wow yeah I figured I need to get my doctorate or become a talented software engineer. Either way I'll have to check back in several years so idk if visas will be available then. Thanks so much for the great info
I think there’s a difference between sightseeing and actually going into places. If all you want to do is drive by a place, then the pass is only good for the Oyster pass. And not worth it, obviously. If, however, if you want to go into places (The Shard, Westminster Abbey, Windsor Castle, etc.) then the pass more than pays for itself.
Lovely video! I was in a big dilemma whether to purchase the Pass or not but now I'm clear, thanks to you! I'm going to buy it. Quick question: Is it crowded in the first week of January? Also, I'm trying to book flight tickets right now for Jan but it's showing me exorbitant prices. Do you have any suggestions for that? It would be great. Thanks. xo
Hi Mokshada, I'm glad I could help, so many of my viewers are just like you so I wanted to clear it all up and help you all decide whether you should get it or not. First week of Jan shouldn't be too bad at all, January is typically a very quiet month. I'm surprised that you're finding very high prices for Jan as the last few weeks of Jan traditionally have the lowest flight prices of the year. If you're searching for the first week, try doing one or more weeks later and see the difference in price.
SO...between my wife and I we paid ~$500 for the 6-day pass and - in our experience - was a WASTE of MONEY. Why? Like you, we wanted to see all main sites BUT ALSO famous streets & shopping areas of London - which is not part of the L-pass. We spent more time "experiencing" the London streets than sticking to the London Pass Book of attractions -- of which by the way is kinda limiting b/c it includes attractions that are outside my interpretation of "experiencing" London. It even has many attractions outside of the city (bla). Biggest pass attraction: London Tower (which I would rather have paid up front and not have purchased this pass). Our mistake: purchase the pass online and make the most of it when IN London. Our Recommendation: Look at all London Pass attractions BEFORE YOU BUY. The London Pass site makes everything sound amazing. HOWEVER, once you're in London, you will find yourself going to places that have nothing to do with the L-Pass. In fact, between day-2-3 we forgot we even had the pass. REGETS! and FAST PASS? Does it get you to the front of the line? LOL. during our 9-days in London, every site that took the London Pass said "we don't do that here". REGRETS! Biggest Take-Away: Purchase the Oyster (subway) card! We used that thing like it was our B*TCH. We took the subway EVERYWHERE, and it is easy to use (after day-1 of courser lol). Personality has a lot to do with the London Pass, sure. But, if you are like us where you want to go to x2 places before lunch and x2 places after lunch, then SKIP THIS PASS. Well, at least get the 2-day pass. Don't go all out like we did. REGRETS!
Yup, as I say in the video, you need to do research and understand what the pass includes to see if it's actually worth it for you. The majority of people who say it's not did not do research and planning beforehand, and also, as mentioned, the 1 and 2 day pass requires you to do a LOT in those days for it to make financial sense.
The 3-day pass was awesome. I saw so much and with ease. About Windsor Castle, I was able to visit and still do 3 more attractions that day. Just got a super early start and still had time for lunch as well as a beer at the Sky Garden. Thank You, your videos were actually very helpful during my trip.
Hi Jess! I have never been to London so it's quite confusing.. So the London Pass includes HOHO ticket? Can I buy the HOHO ticket only? Is the cost reasonable if I just travel with Oyster Card? Sorry for asking so many :'D
It includes one day of a HOHO. If you want to buy the HOHO alone, you can. This video tells you more about HOHO: ua-cam.com/video/i5i8aX1l4jw/v-deo.html Hope that helps!
FYI The view from the Shard is now included in the London pass.
Yup!
Is it free?
“Doing what the locals do” is great if you can convince yourself it’s what you’re doing. I’ve lived in my current city for over 20 years and I honestly have no idea what we locals do. Walk at the park one day a week and watch TV at home most nights? 😀
The London Pass was essential to my wife and me for a few reasons.
Thanks for such a detailed review. It's really helpull
I was in London this past April and used the London Pass and the Oyster card. Best purchase EVER! I saved time and money! Thank you! Oh, and I'm going back next May and bringing my sister along. And yes, we'll be purchasing the London Pass again!
Thanks for letting us know Karlya, glad to hear your experience with it!
Karlya Boone , can I purchase the London pass once there or is it an order online only pass?

I've visited London 3 times, with each stay being either 1 or 2 weeks. Every time, I bought a 6 day London Pass, and a 7 day travelcard (or 2) on my regular Oyster card, and every time, I saved money on my sightseeing and transport around town. It's definitely worthwhile to plan out your daily itineraries in advance to make the most of the pass. Now, I might be running out of attractions to see... Maybe just a 3 day Pass next time.
Great video! Just visited London a month ago (used a six-day pass) and it was totally worth it!
Hi Joe! Thanks so much. Glad you had a great time.
Great points E'syl. I definitely agree that speed is the key! Thanks for watching :)
Thank you for all your helpful information. I used the link you provided and bought (4), 3 day passes for our girls trip in 2 weeks. So excited!
Ah thanks for your support Brenda, that's so helpful and do let me know how you get on with the passes! Not long now! :)
Hi from NZ! Just came across your vids. I am travelling to Europe and Uk in Oct/Nov. You answer so many of the questions I havent been able to get answers for (even with 10 months worth of research!). Thank you! Love the videos :)
Hi Pepper! Ah thank you so much for commenting and watching!! Glad I can help.
Excellent editing and as short and comprehensive as it can be ! Simply awesome thank you
You're welcome! THanks for much for watching!
To save money, you need to rush and get attractions in 2-3 days and it isn’t a slow paced holiday, at least for us. I did a spreedsheet comparation and found out that for 5 attractions spread in 3 days, it was cheaped without London Pass. Thanks for you video!!
Yeah the passes less than 3 days are usually not worth it. Thanks for watching
hi! i love your videos... i'm going to London, Paris and Italy this octuber by myself.. and I'm printing all yours tips and email... so thank you very much for spend your time to help people to travel...it's really helping me with it!! good luck!😊
Thanks Karen! Good luck!
I am doing the same this year.
I'm going to London tomorrow and just came across your channel! So grateful for your videos!! Thank you!!
Have a GREAT time Nancy!
I just buy two London Passes through your link. Thank you for your videos, really helpful.
Thanks very much Jannett
Update: the view from the Shard is now included in the the LondonPass. Good tips though, Thanks!
Just bought the london pass with the link you provided. Thanks for the videos..
Thanks so much Siddharth! Enjoy it :)
hii!! Thank you for your videos.. really informative.. I really appreciate if you do a video about students visiting London and your tips for them.. thank you so much
Hi Nino! I've had a few people ask for this so it's on the list :)
Thank you, Jess! This was very informative and the fog is clearing; I am beginning to understand ;)
+Kathy Vojnovski you're welcome Kathy!
Wow you did loads! Great!
Thank you so much for the review!
+Joe Tenn awesome, I love a good deal ;) enjoy it all.
Great videos! Do the days we purchase on a London Pass need to be used in consecutive order? For example, if I'm visiting for 9 days, purchase a 6-day pass, can I spread out those 6 days across the 9 days any way I want? Or do I have to use the 6 days all in a row? Thank you!
Hi Kate, yes they need to be consecutive :)
I went with a Go City Pass because I needed more than a week to see everything. I chose 6 options and saved 50 pounds.
Should I buy the London Pass "with travel" option or should I buy the London pass and an oyster card?
You can do either!
i can't wait for my trip to London next year😁
we will be going in sept I'm kinda nervous not sure what to wear we will there a week
Hi Kristen, no need to be nervous! This video will help you with packing: ua-cam.com/video/HlFIY6ZiMI0/v-deo.html
hi thanks for your video! i am going to visit london in late july and wanted to buy the london pass. At minute 2:14 you talk about fast track included in the london pass to 7 attractions. Could you tell me which are they? I would like to organize my visit in time, thank you very much!
This is quite an old video, they don't offer the fast track feature anymore :) Here's a more up to date article: loveandlondon.com/london-pass-worth/
Hi :), is there a limit on how many attractions you can visit on the 2 day pass, like can you potentially go over the £ value? Thank you❤
Hi Donna, we have an article with more updated information here: loveandlondon.com/london-pass-worth/ 😊
-Dani
This is the question I’m trying to get my head around. The London Pass talks about credits. So where is the info on this?!
And there’s no further info on this topic in the article (that I could see anyway).
Hi Elizabeth! I talk about things to do in London in my Q&A video: ua-cam.com/video/Ub7hTopJZiA/v-deo.html that will help! Thanks for watching :)
Thank you for the video! Which bus companies accept the London Pass?
I found it! They are Big Bus Tours and Golden Tours.
Thank you so much for quick replay. one more question which place not allow camera in side can they hold my camera in locker and give me back when I come out? or we should not take camera that king of places at all. Thanks.
Hey Juhi, I think you can bring your camera most places, you just might not be allowed to use it.
Your videos are excellent. I told couple of my friends about it. Thanks for doing this. Is London pass and Oyster card one and the same? Like you said in this video, I buy 3 days card. Do I still have to buy the Oyster card? I would really appreciate if you could answer.
Thanks Krishna. There's an option to get an oyster card with your London Pass. You can do to that, but don't have to.
When you purchase the pass do you print it out and show it lets say to the driver for the double decker bus?
You can get the pass shipped to you, or you can pick it up in London, or you can get a mobile version of the ticket, then you show it either to the driver or the staff member standing at the stop. More about ticket options here! : www.londonpass.com/shipping-collection-for-london-pass/
Can u do the attractions on different days
If you have a multi-day pass, then yes but it needs to be consecutive days.
18/6/23….1:11am…I would like to see not just London, but also Cornwall, Stone Henge,Dover, Buckleberry…so can you help me?
This is love and LONDON so we do focus on London 😘😘😘
Hey. Next week I will travel to London with a friend. Few days later my Sister will visit london too with her friend. So my Question is. Can I purchase for example a 10 day pass so my Sister can use it too when I leave? Or am I only allowed to use every attraction just 1x with the London Pass ?
Don't see why you couldn't do that but best to ask them!
I know this post is from last August, but I'm going to London in April for the first time. My travel agent suggested I purchase as TravelCard. Now, I'm wondering if I also need to buy an Oyster Card. Help!
Do you have info on the 2-4-1/travel card vs Oyster card?
Hi! So the 2-4-1 is different, it can't be used for travel, but to buy cheaper tickets to atttactions around London. Here's a good video that talks about Oyster cards: ua-cam.com/video/5eAZ7JUrkjo/v-deo.html
can you tell what kind of dress will o
I need for a nice dinner out in london? little black dress or long black dress ? this is my first time in london
(Online)
2. Is there a limit to how many attractions I can visit?
Lol, not a scam, hundreds of thousands of people use it every year. You keep the pass on your phone. No limit to how much you do.
Can I buy the pass right there without ordering online? I know where their desk is
thanks for the great info! what is an oyster card and why would we want it?
Hi Claudia! This video talks about oyster cards (you use it for public transportation): ua-cam.com/video/5eAZ7JUrkjo/v-deo.html
I was wondering if the London Pass include tours of attractions such as the Tower of London and Westminster Abbey? I'm having some trouble finding if a tour is included or if it's just entry to the attraction.
Hi Amanda, it should say on the attraction info page on their site.
Jess, I used your link to purchase a 3-day Pass. They are both on my iPhone now in the App. How do I transfer the 2nd one to my husband's phone?
Thanks Sheryl! I'm not sure. Have you asked London Pass? I'm sure they can help! Also you can just have both of them on your phone I think :D
I would contact them about that attraction specifically as I'm not sure how it works
From what I have read, after you buy your London Pass you still have to make your reservations for places that need them, so you still only be able to go on those days.
Hi! So im going to be in London for work and can only do sightseeing on the weekend so would you recommend I buy a two day pass or just go to individual attractions?
Individual attractions 👍
If I get a 3 day London Pass, do they need to be consecutive days or can I we use it, say, on a Saturday, Monday, & Weds? Love the videos, very helpful, we'll be there for a week in mid-Sept. Than you, David Shore
Consecutive :) Thanks David!
Thanks! Sounds like a good plan to me
Is an 8% discount on a three day pass the best they do or should we wait a bit and see if the offer increases? Thank you!
Hey Kathe! They usually do the same type of sale so I’d go for it !
Nice video! I have a question about using the London Pass for museums. How do I know which paid exhibitions are included in the London Pass? Thank you.
HI Xiao! The full list of EVERYTHING you get is here: fave.co/2czIZN6
The London Museum is free! And massive. More museum than one would ever need. Ha. Trust me, if you take the time to go through it all, you’ll probably not feel much urgency to go to another one. It’s tough work to be a tourist sometime!
great video. can I bring my camera tripod to London and other part of England? thanks
Thanks Juhi, yes you can.
Nice job Rebecca! Yeah you can definitely save money if you work it out right. I love when people like you snag a deal :D
Can't wait!
Hey Claudia! I'm not sure what you mean by that exactly.... sorry :( So glad you're excited for your visit!
Correct.
Are there discounted London Pass prices for 18+ students?
When you buy the explorer pass, and use the hop on hop off, is it good for just 24 hours? My husband and I when we travel anywhere, we always take this tour first to get familiarized with the city the first day. But they are so convinient to go back to the attractions on them, so i cas wondering if we want to use it 2 days, should we buy a pass considering it 2 attractions (one each day) plus all the others (london eye, river boats, etc?)
ALso we are traveling with a baby (14 months) we will be "slow pace" and not sure how our days will be. Do you have any attractions that you definitely suggest we try with a very active baby boy who just learned to walk??
Hi Jen, I'm a little confused by your question. The hop on hop off tours are for 24 hours (unless you buy the longer ones). Does that help?
yes it does, I guess we would buy two and used them as two attractions. it's just so easy to use them as transportation! thanks!!!
The fast pass is only limited to 7 attractions per day or entire trip? do we need to collect ticket for cruise in advance? Thank you
I don't think there's a limit to the fast pass usage. And I'm not sure about the cruise I don't think you need to get tickets in advance though.
how is the crowd in October. do I need the fast track on the london pass
Hard to say Leslie! Depends on many factors.
Thank you. Jo
Hey Jo, it's valid for 1 year from purchase, and yes it's activated when you start using it.
Awesome, thanks for getting back to me asap.
If you only buy a one day London pass, do you have to use your Hop on hop off bus ticket on that same day or can it be used another day?
Yes you have to use it that day Jenna :)
Hey, what do think about Couchsurfing, is its good or bad idea ?
Never done it but thousands of people do it and love it.
view from shard is included🎉
If I’m getting a explorer pass - and buy it months in advance of my trip, when does it start? Does it expire?
Not sure about the Explorer pass but I believe the London Pass lasts for one year
Helloooo, please could you elaborate on the oyster card offer please :))
pleaseeee answer asap
Hi Sergio, what about it?
Uhm which card comes along with the pass? how much credit is on the card? Is there any pros on getting in with the pass other than saving time?:P
You can do either or! Info about how much credit they give is all on the website :)
Where can I find the suggested itineraries on the website?
There's a link in the video description :)
Hey!, I want to know In London pass is include Madam Tussaud & London Eye?
Not the London Eye and please don't got to Madame Tussaud's! There's so many better things to do in London.
@@loveandlondon I'll go to Madame Tussauds just to see One Direction's wax figure.. but that's if I'm in London
Do we have to book before to go at the attractions??
Not with the London Pass.
Do we have to purchase oyster card with london pass..? Are the travelling expenses not included in the same pass?
Hey Ashraz, the per-ride costs are the same, yes. You don’t have to get the Oyster Card add on, it’s up to you.
Love and London thanks fore your reply but I'm confused to get london pass without travelling or with travel expenses..I'm thinking of buying 2 days london pass so after that it will not pay for my other days travelling so I'm thinking to go for oyster card with london pass..Is that okay?
You can still use the Oyster feature once your pass is finished, don't worry :)
Is there a limit to the amount of attractions we can go with the 1 day London pass
No limit other than your time 😂
Hi. If I get 2 day London pass, does that mean I get to ride the big bus on both days?
Hi Ronnie, it's just a one day pass for the bus.
Do you think its worth it to book in Advance? ill be there in a week, im assuming its non peak
Doesn’t matter really, you can buy one last minute, there’s no difference in when you buy :)
we are planning to visit london for 4 days from 1st to 5th January, 2017.
Can you get it in London or is it something you have to order ahead of time?
You can get it in London, I'm not sure if you can go somewhere to buy it but you can buy it online and use it the same day I think (check the FAQ page)
Love and London thank you!
hi guys im new im thinking of going with my partner ,we are going for one day staying in a hotel same night but what card would i need if i wanted to visit the buckingham palace and madame tausand.
Hi there, I would just buy tickets individually for those spots.
my partner can not travel on foot much due to medication so we might have to use london transport what would u recommend,,and thank u for your reply
how much does one actually save from the pass? Because nothing is really "free"..you buy the pass (for example for 3 days for 550 euros) and this is your credit for the 3 days?
You can see as much as you want within those days, but you have to work it out against how much you can realistically get done and their individual costs. We have this all worked out in our article here: loveandlondon.com/london-pass-worth/
Thanks for the info. I'm not able to sign up for "London Pass sale alerts" via e-mail tho. Just to let you know. (the bar on top is stuck at 50%)
Did you put your email and name into the box where the progress bar is? I just tested it and it seems like everything is working fine. When you click the button after entering your info and it still doesn't work, just let me know.
Seems like my AdBlock was making a problem. After disabling it everything worked fine. Thanks.
Great to hear, thanks Daniel!
Thank you. I also wrote to you on FB. If you accept the message I won't bother you much but could use a private tip or two for my upcoming visit. Thanks.
I try to open those sites about London pass but I can't open it maybe it was banned in our country
Hm, not sure... they're working on my end
Thank you so much I'm planning a trip with my husband and son and this has been so helpful. If I wanted to move there would that be possible
You're very welcome! I moved here after marrying my British husband and I definitely wouldn't say it was easy :/
David Wood thanks so much thats very helpful, maybe London would be too expensive but yeah I read living continuously for 5 years is the first step
David Wood oh wow yeah I figured I need to get my doctorate or become a talented software engineer. Either way I'll have to check back in several years so idk if visas will be available then. Thanks so much for the great info
I just finished 6 straight days of sightseeing in London and the pass wouldn't have been worthwhile.
Yeah totally, it just depends on what sites you want to see!
Is the London Pass only per person? So if I purchase a pass it’s only good for me? Or Can I purchase for 2?
Nope it's per person ❤️
Is it 1 London pass per person? Or does is it for a couple
One per person :)
Thank you for the quick response
Shard is now on the London Pass.
Yup!
What gets confusing are the references about Shard. Is it just The Shard? Or The View from the Shard? Are these 2 separate venues, or the same?
The Shard is the entire building, The View From the Shard is the viewpoint at the top!
Do the Oyster card also include tourists attractions???? So we don't have to pay money??
The London Pass covers select tourist attractions. The Oyster Card is payment for transportation.
I really love you!!!
Thanks!
I challenge you to an arm wrestle
The shard is on there now
Yup!
I just bought the 3-day pass without the travel card for my trip in June.
Awesome! Let me know what you end up seeing with the pass.
Did my own research and the pass does not make financial sense.
Great. That's exactly what I advise.. it works for some and not for others, depending on the factors mentioned. Nice job!

Ur so beautiful
And you are soo creepy
