respect to the dealer for putting 10k to 15k into the car to make it right, wonder how much they paid at auction, they listed it at 56k after the work.
That is also a very weird combo... ported blower, stock throttle body, weld wheels with a MT tire, stage 1 cam, flex fuel with aux fuel system, headers... like it has some really good stuff and some stuff that is confusing... Betting man would put money that it was a stock clutch.
Glad you found the issue. Same thing happened to me on my turbo car. Should have been around 400whp at my boost level but was making 250whp. Cat caved in on itself.
As we know that the pistons goes up and down right by the crank moving … thier a fuel in the chamber and spark and air if they were dirty somewhere or it closed by a percentage point att somewhere that gonna kill it by half ;)
This car is full of premium as it is with no modifications. Would not want to buy one of those after somebody else half assed it and you had to fix it. Great job guys can’t imagine what they’ll be asking for that thing.
So was the ss running too rich and caused the cats to clog? I’m asking bc I just got my g8 back with fbo and stage 5 cam. I can smell fuel and my garage reeks of gas. At start up I have black soot coming from one side of the exhaust and I have all new exhaust and catty. Wondering if I need to take my g8 back to the tuner and get them to look at the tune. Forgot to mention I have poor gas mileage but that’s just the nature of the cam in my opinion.
Fran let's have a powwow and figure out what's going on with this car that was funny at least you know the dealerships is an honest dealership they had that car fixed correctly
Did you expect them to drive it around for 500 miles? Easing to 4th gear and then rolling in to it for dyno runs is not bad for any new clutch much less a Monster LT1-S Triple…. High RPM clutch dumps are a different story.
How do these guys avoid the whole EPA thing with the cats? Every shop here in MI is deathly paranoid about it!! We don't have inspections either or testing for emissions.
Have not finished watching, just started part two. Sorry for my ignorance, what is it, an Impala or a Caprice? Just called a Chevy SS? Damn if that's the case this old man needs to go back to school, Haha! Corvette badge on the trunk? WTF? I have an LSA in my CTS-V. no problems like that, thank God. Thanks for the video!
Yup, just a Chevy SS. Was a huge failure as far as sales go. Only made maybe 2 years I think...basically a Holden Commodore like the GTO and G8. Wasn't flashy enough for the US market, didn't make enough power for the segment it was in, didn't handle the greatest cause of size and weight (actually handles decently though considering), just didn't do anything fantastically....big miss by GM. They should have supercharged it from the factory and would have sold more for sure. Also was priced too high MSRP turned buyers off as well, for what you're getting for your money. Didn't make enough power to compete with the Hellcat, too big and heavy to compete with other muscle or sports cars in that way, and nothing design wise that was standout that some buyers may want.
@@Jsmith9619 It wasn't a failure GM sold this thing here (US) in order to sell what was left from the Holden plant closing in 2017. It was a really great handling car and plenty of performance parts can be had for the LS3. Umodded low mileage ones are still fetching original asking price (45 to 50k) and the car will be a future collectable.
@yomommas5ohhhh , your information is 100% incorrect. Don't knock it until you drive one. Holden could not produce them fast enough for such a small factory compared to the mega factories in northern America and Mexico. The market had changed in Australia with a flood of import vehicles produced cheaply. Aust govt wasn't helping the situation by lowering import duties and tariffs, and dropping the ball on manufacturing in this country. Tertiary education was encouraged for higher learning and students guided towards academic careers and no attention was made for continuous local manufacturing. A real bad time for govts here with head in the sand attitudes losing so much local manufacturing to foreign imports across all sectors. The Chev SS was a real great vehicle, still used here in Aust for racing. A family car, a sports car. So what's it to be ? A competitor for GM own US brands against the Cadillac CTSV , or a rebranded imposter ? The US folks in the market for a large 4 door V8 will most likely go with caddy, because it's what they know. And ultimately GM decided Holden will wind down a few years before the last Commodores rolled off the production line in 2017. It was a small factory anyway. Let's say, the US demand for the SS went through the roof. They'd have to retool a factory in Northern America to keep the demand up, and that would cost big money, and after the model run out, they'd have to retool again, for next gen design or electric vehicles. But it wasn't to be. In the eyes of the owners of Holden VF Commodores and Chevy SS , they are huge Success. You only had to test drive one and you were SOLD on it. And yes, some came with the LSA engines as well in Aust.
And this why I only trust RPM. Just do it right the first time and send it to them before having to spend $15k in trying to fix some fly by night performance shop’s mistakes.
Best shop around hands down. i tell my friends "if i ever have anything done to my car again its straight to rpm. fuck all these ohio shops." excuse my language.
21 lbs of boost and 231hp. Gosh, sounds like it was worked on by a Honda tech. I'd be curious to see if they installed a blowoff valve, because a tuner would install one just because.
@@RaceProvenMotorsports you thinking you hurt me anywhere explains why 90% of Frans vocabulary consists of the word fuck. It also explains why Fran was the least educated of the four when it came time to figure out the problems with the car. It was nice to see Matt put him in his place.

Wow, that car was really jacked up! You guys did a great job of getting it back in good shape.
I ❤ how raw and unfiltered you guys are. Love the videos
Nice job on the car. You guys really have to hate doing these kinds of jobs.
Educational for a lot of viewers. 👍👍

Yeah shit is all weird, its like dude was on a budget and siad f it half way and actually bought decent stuff 💀
Probably took the aftermarket throttle body off right before he sold or traded it. The easiest part to swap out.
What's wrong with a weld wheels and Mt tires or running a stock tb with a blower?
Alright boys and girls... time for some of that non-institutional education.
I really enjoyed the way you made this 2 part video. Clogged cats
Glad you found the issue. Same thing happened to me on my turbo car. Should have been around 400whp at my boost level but was making 250whp. Cat caved in on itself.
F***ing awesome!! Great to see you guys solve the mystery.
No matter the price asked its nice to have a vid to justify it.
Great videos showing problems and solutions on this thing. Really enjoyed it good stuff!
Good job guys the work you guys put in is awesome man keep it going great content 😊
Awesome job as usual.
I like the pow-wow. Good brains put together
One cat super clogged is always a pain in the ass to diagnose if it runs half decent. Both clogged, it likely wouldn’t even fire up. Great job fellas!
Damn boss man you been puttin in work i dont even recognize ya anymore…..congrats on you journey brother!!!
Love this series…f’ing with you guys
Same problem my Mustang had clogged cats but you had a lot more problems lol

Next time someone emails about there 99 cavalier with a ls7 in it and bitch about why you don’t want to work on it …. Show them this 😂
That thing looked like a pain in the ass but cool to see some troubleshooting content
Welcome to Friday afternoon with a video
Definitely one of the best channels on UA-cam. I think these boys know what they are doing. 👍👍
Wow, that was problematic, nice work guys 👍👍👍👍

i see why the original owner got rid of it, that thing was all sorts of fucked up lol.

Great work
What dealerships do you do the cars for?
Murray Chevrolet
Love that car. What would it sell for ?
dealership had it up for 53k originally, then 56k after the work
No break in on the clutch? Full send?
I had the same question on my clutch, emailed monster and no break in required on this clutch but others they have do require break in
Did you expect them to drive it around for 500 miles? Easing to 4th gear and then rolling in to it for dyno runs is not bad for any new clutch much less a Monster LT1-S Triple…. High RPM clutch dumps are a different story.
Breakin isn’t needed for applying power. Only for slipping/launching a clutch.
How do these guys avoid the whole EPA thing with the cats? Every shop here in MI is deathly paranoid about it!! We don't have inspections either or testing for emissions.
Every car that leaves the shop is EPA compliant 😉
It has cats on it
Is that a vette emblem on the back??
Is the cam open on 4,075 rpm ‘

I wish I had a quarter for every time they used the "F" word. I know it's shop talk, but jeeze....
🙄
