Now, listen, it was a joke in bad taste and I think Taylor was valid in saying smth and admittedly the show is not perfect and has a lot of weak points (Ginny’s character & storyline in particular need a lot of work bc rn she’s annoying AF and I hate her friends) BUT that doesn’t warrant the entire show being cancelled over one bad joke that yes, was slightly sexist but at the same time it’s Ginny’s character saying it and shes got a lot of internalized self hatred, so ya know, I actually thought in the context it was quite fitting. Not funny, and 100% a bad joke, but fitting. Anyways I still think the show should get a second season bc it has the potential to grow and learn from its mistakes. Like making Ginny’s character a little more real, and likable, and less teen angsty. Making her friends less “peer pressure”-y and micro-aggressively racist and ignorant. Making Bracia - the only sane mature student who tried to be Ginny’s friend - more of a presence instead of an afterthought. Basically, Ginny needs to grow big time, or else it’s really not worth it. ANYWAYS, if we do get a second season, I think there is the potential for Georgia to be happy in the long run. At the end of the day, she is one of the MCs so yes, altho I’m sure she’ll get in a lot of trouble on the way, I don’t think an unhappy ending is in the cards for her. Now, I dunno who she ends up with, but I’m hoping the fact that she has a lot of Joe fans isn’t going unnoticed by the writers and that they at least do smth about it and give us more content in S2! Honestly, when Paul gave that power speech I just thought about how much more interesting he would be as a character if he became Georgia's nemesis instead of being her boyfriend. The power thing isn't necessarily sign of Impending Evil cuz Georgia has control issues and Ginny's monologue about sex at the beginning of episode 1 has Georgia saying sex gives you either power or passion. If she stays with Paul, she gets power out of that relationship and that's something she knows how to work with. Something she thinks will give her the feeling of safety that will make her truly free, like she mentioned on their date. AND she told Maxine that love is never safe, which I think is why she let Passion walk out the door so many times (Zion). The fact that Zion is the one that walked away this time makes me think that penguin has learned to fly somehow (or is not a penguin anymore - however you want that metaphore to go). As for Joe, she's not ready to give that a go because she doesn't associate love or passion with the safety and freedom she seeks. (Sorry I go on and on, but Joe for the win!)

It was understandable when she doesn't know why her mom's like that and why she didn't introduce ginny to her family but even after knowing her mom was abused and had never had a good childhood .. she still acts the same and complains to Zion that she wasn't introduced to her grandparents ? People compare it to Gilmore girls, but I don't see it. Lorelai was a girl from super privileged family, bored with her lifestyle. Georgia was the complete bottom growing up. The reasons for them becoming teen moms couldn't be different. While Lorelai was the cool mom, nowadays reviewers usually judge Georgia for the way she is raising her kids. But take the few similar situations. When Rory stayed overnight, Lorelai freaked out. Georgia saw the signs sex could happen and got pills for Ginny. Americans judge that a lot, when TV teenagers take them, but that's the responsible reaction. Just like her approach to Ginny smoking weed. It kind of reminds me how I was raised and would raise my kids eventually. Making everything the forbidden fruit is like a sticker they should do that. Gilmore girls didn't have teen sex or drinking. Yes, Zion and Christopher are superficially similar. But while they both live away, Zion tried multiple times and he's constantly being a father at least from afar. Chris appeared in Rory's life rarely and was clear on leaving the parenting to Lorelai. Another kid? Gilmore girls showed it as such a scary option, like Rory could never stop being the special child for everyone around, but in fact, she was a spoiled brat (I didn't see it then, but I've been rewatching it for more than 20 years and seeing it in a new light as I age). Ginny rebels as every teenager, but she knows responsibility and can take care of Austin. She is much more realistic kid than Rory ever was. I would rather call it American Skins. Like always, the original British version is edgier... And yes, there was that better to forget US remake... But it too shows the ugly parts of teenagers and their life. With the very criticised slut shaming, but that's what those little *** actually do. And they drink and smoke weed and watch porn to learn about sex, however dumb it is. Joe is the only one has a real soulmate and lifelong friend character in this show. He does not chase beautiful girls, he was waiting for her since his childhood, he cherishes that single minute that he had with her when he was young like his life. And is so compassionate, caring and understanding of everyone that has interaction with him, And lastly he is such a gentleman that he is ready to let go of his love, the moment he realises that she is the one that he was waiting for, Because he values her happiness. ANYWAYS, if we do get a second season, I think there is the potential for Georgia to be happy in the long run. At the end of the day, she is one of the MCs so yes, altho I’m sure she’ll get in a lot of trouble on the way, I don’t think an unhappy ending is in the cards for her. Now, I dunno who she ends up with, but I’m hoping the fact that she has a lot of Joe fans isn’t going unnoticed by the writers and that they at least do smth about it and give us more content in S2! Bc quite frankly, Joe is the only reason I’m watching. I like Georgia too, and her story is interesting, but because the show is quite cliche, badly written (no offense!) and teen-focused, I don’t think I would’ve stuck around past episode 3 if it hadn’t been for him.

Honestly, when Paul gave that power speech I just thought about how much more interesting he would be as a character if he became Georgia's nemesis instead of being her boyfriend. The power thing isn't necessarily sign of Impending Evil cuz Georgia has control issues and Ginny's monologue about sex at the beginning of episode 1 has Georgia saying sex gives you either power or passion. If she stays with Paul, she gets power out of that relationship and that's something she knows how to work with. Something she thinks will give her the feeling of safety that will make her truly free, like she mentioned on their date. AND she told Maxine that love is never safe, which I think is why she let Passion walk out the door so many times (Zion). The fact that Zion is the one that walked away this time makes me think that penguin has learned to fly somehow (or is not a penguin anymore - however you want that metaphore to go). As for Joe, she's not ready to give that a go because she doesn't associate love or passion with the safety and freedom she seeks. (Sorry I go on and on, but Joe for the win!)
I hated Paul up until that power speech of his, and then I was like FINALLY, SOME PERSONALITY!! I still want Georgia and Joe to be end game though.

People compare it to Gilmore girls, but I don't see it. Lorelai was a girl from super privileged family, bored with her lifestyle. Georgia was the complete bottom growing up. The reasons for them becoming teen moms couldn't be different. While Lorelai was the cool mom, nowadays reviewers usually judge Georgia for the way she is raising her kids. But take the few similar situations. When Rory stayed overnight, Lorelai freaked out. Georgia saw the signs sex could happen and got pills for Ginny. Americans judge that a lot, when TV teenagers take them, but that's the responsible reaction. Just like her approach to Ginny smoking weed. It kind of reminds me how I was raised and would raise my kids eventually. Making everything the forbidden fruit is like a sticker they should do that. Gilmore girls didn't have teen sex or drinking. Yes, Zion and Christopher are superficially similar. But while they both live away, Zion tried multiple times and he's constantly being a father at least from afar. Chris appeared in Rory's life rarely and was clear on leaving the parenting to Lorelai. Another kid? Gilmore girls showed it as such a scary option, like Rory could never stop being the special child for everyone around, but in fact, she was a spoiled brat (I didn't see it then, but I've been rewatching it for more than 20 years and seeing it in a new light as I age). Ginny rebels as every teenager, but she knows responsibility and can take care of Austin. She is much more realistic kid than Rory ever was.
I would rather call it American Skins. Like always, the original British version is edgier... And yes, there was that better to forget US remake... But it too shows the ugly parts of teenagers and their life. With the very criticised slut shaming, but that's what those little *** actually do. And they drink and smoke weed and watch porn to learn about sex, however dumb it is.
