used to love the music at 19:29 , so nice to hear that again .. still mind blowing that they made such a nice piece of music for such a rare part of the game (also the mini games in general are amazing) esp with the memory constraints. you might not get that done even in a modern game without being told by some jumped up lead that it needs to be optimized better or heard more widely in the game.. lots to learn from classic games like this one
Even looking back at this now over 30 years later it's got a strong atmosphere to it and the music is amazing true to c64style it's a bit of a strange game and brings back so many memories ! Used to play this late at night with all the lights out in the 80s about 10 years old ! How did they do all that with so little memory .the c64 had more space than the manufacturers let people know about .
I used to write down all the clues for the murder mystery, then cross check them all to get the killers identity. It was tricky to ride the cloud to the halos, that much I remember. The breakout screens were fun to play, and the music was fantastic. Collecting the flowers was one of my favourite tasks. All the mini games were enjoyable in their own way. Happy memories !

If I remember correctly, this game got very good reviews across the board from various gaming magazines. And, although it IS weird, it is actually a very good game.
especially since it's named after a one-hit wonder band (at least in the US. I know they were more popular in the UK) Just remember: Frankie says Relax
It's still one of the most surreal games I've ever played. If you look at it, it's basically just an arcade adventure with a bunch of strange ass mini-games thrown in along the way. Plus it's about Frankie Goes to Hollywood...they were pretty weird anyway. LOL

The main character being their logo is amazing. The programmer must have been told "we got a license for Frankie Goes To Hollywood, make a game of it" and he was like 🤷♂️

I bought this on the strength of the Zzap!64 review and was so glad I did. I still fire this up on an emulator every now and again. A real classic.
