Every time I try to help someone I'm either yelled at for being incompetent or that I'm just making things worse. But if I don't help people I get yelled at for not helping.

Canada has a bystanders law, it literally says if any injuries occur in you savings the other person's life you cannot be held liable. From what I'm reading here it's better to let people die in America rather than help them, or they'll Sue you for saving their life.

Once I helped an elderly lady on the way to work. She seemed so fragile, sick and moved very slowly, she said she was hungry and didn't have money to take a bus back home. I paid breakfast for her, gave her money for her to take her bus back, and arrived late at work for this.
The next week she was there on the same spot. Later a nearby storeowner told me she was a scammer and wasn't even really sick.

Made the mistake of becoming friends with a family down the street from me and my husband. The couple seemed on the up and up. My husband helped the wife get a job at the gas station where he worked because she needed a job so badly. She worked there a bit then said she quit because the manager was hitting on her and being inappropriate...turns out she didn't quit, she was fired for stealing. Made my husband look bad in front of his boss because he vouched for her to get her this job...the cherry on top? After the family moved away, other neighbors came forward to tell us that this couple...especially the wife...was talking serious trash about us behind our backs...calling us a "bunch of retards" and laughing about how stupid we all were. Fast forward 25 years...hubby and I are in a new neighborhood. One day we walk to the local party store...guess who we find out lives by the party store...yep...our former "friends"...the wife was sitting on her porch...she recognized me and my hubby and smiled at us as we walked by...I stared intense daggers at her...the smile fell off her face and she looked away. I said everything I needed to say to her without saying a word. 😒

Was walking into a store once and a guy in a wheelchair came behind me, so I held the door open for him. For some reason he didn't use the automatic doors in front, went to the side door that had to be pushed open. As I'm holding it, the guy gets halfway through and began yelling at me, that he doesn't need my help just because he's in a wheelchair. I said OK, and left the door go. Which smacked him and wedged him in place. A few people started to yell at me, but most were on my side on that one. When I was leaving, he had security atop me, claiming I assaulted him as he was coming in. They had already reviewed the video, and were just talking to me to get him to shut up.

I saw a girl standing on the top of a bridge. It was very high up and it looked like she wanted to jump.
An officer was talking to her already trying to get her back from over the railing.
I went up to this girl, who can’t have been more than 16, and me and the cop just chatted to her we were just being friends to her.
She told me that she just felt like she couldn’t go on and that everything was going wrong in her life, so I held her under the arm to make sure she wouldn’t slip,
    then pushed her.
For some reason the cop took offence to this and arrested me for “Mordor” (idk what Lord of the Rings had to do with it).

My mother was driving home around 2am. A drunk driver crashed his motorcycle on the back of my mom’s car, he was going so fast he lost all his teeth (he was not wearing a helmet). My mom with all the goodness of her heart brought this young man and his passenger (his uncle) to the hospital. In the police station, the young mans parents proceeded to berate my mom and asking her to pay his hospital bills. The police told the mother of the young man that their son crashed the back of my mom’s car so she has no fault.
They kept screaming that the rich always gets justice. The police added, that the young man was not only incredible drunk, he also did not have a license to drive, the motorcycle has an expired documents so the motor will also be impounded.
They still keep screaming it was my mom’s fault. And she should at least pay their sons hospital bills. The stupid ambulance made that assumption so it caused a lot of drama

37:12 for anyone going into the food service industry, never let your manager know you screwed something up as a waiter. Half the time they will find out regardless, sure, but you need to know that you are 200% expendable and replaceable. Coming clean about a mistake grants you no leniency, all it does is pour hot water onto the already thin ice you've been skating on since the moment you were hired. Some restaurant managers will have the nerve to preach "accountability" too, but don't buy that bullshit for a second. They just want to make it easier for themselves to know who they need to fire so that they get less complaints from customers by weeding out the screw ups, but you having an income is more important than any customer's dining experience that day or any day. Fuck em. Hide your mistakes, and then if they confront you later just act surprised if you can and if that option is available to you in this hypothetical situation. Then fuck his gf (or her bf) if he/she yells at you, this is a completely proportional response, do not worry. Probably get out of the restaurant business soon if you've made it this far though.
