Workshops @ OnTheWave festival with Ronie were so meaningful. Not only because he's an amazing kizomba teacher, but because exactly one year ago on the previous festival edition, he inspired me to pursue dance.
He's the inspiration behind Onkizomba :) It was great to see him again in Latvia.
One key lesson this time was to keep embracing student's mindset. You are always student, no matter if you are master at something or beginner.
Remember if you are not growing, you are dying. We never stay at the same place. We are either growing or becoming worse.
Ronie lives this mindset and I try to live it too. Love his musicality classes, and even if i have been to many, every time I pick something new from them.
Just try it, it really helps to grow and remain humble & kind.
You'll get quite a few Ronie's demos in the next few days. If there is one thing i would recommend is that you focus, how he dances differently in different kind of songs.
If the song is slow and romantic. You should dance romantic.
If the beat is strong. Dance strong.
Dont dance the same to all the songs.
You may say - but i dont know how. Or that its not that easy.
A tango instructor gave the best advice on this - just put intention there.
If song is sad, imagine being sad and dancing sad.
If beat is strong, imagine being a badass guy not caring what anyone thinks.
You get the drill. Just having intention in mind helps more than you think (i tried it and it works!!!)

This is one of the best kizomba events in Latvia. Yep, thats my home country. If you ever consider to come to Latvia for kizomba, this is the one event! This year it covered artists like Curtis & Carola, Ronie Saleh ... and more :)
