This is one of the easiest caddy videos I've seen so far.. I'm a beginner at sewing.. I'm going to try to make one for my dad on his upcoming 60th birthday. Special handmade gift would be nice on this milestone.. hope I'll be able to make it nice n he likes it too🙂
Great video; I watched a few times, stopping to make notes then put them in a document to check my work. On the top pocket I made several narrow pockets for pens that populate on the end table (like dust bunnies in a corner). The caddy purchased at Ikea uses a short, heavy rod to tuck deep between cushion and arm and a loop fold at the bottom, paperback books size.
I was going to knit or crochet one but remembered I also can sew a bit! have made one of your project bags actually and was happy to see you had a tutorial up for a caddy also. I'll be making this soon thanks so much.
What about the weight of all the gadgets in the pockets, how did you anchor the holder on the sofa or chair please. My choirs are recliner so I don’t have a cushion to put it under, if that’s what you did. Thank you for doing it on UA-cam I will have to keep stopping as I’m not a confident sewer on a machine but I will give it ago with couple of pockets. The speed of the video was fast but I think Iv got the idea, nice video. I just have to try and get my lines straight then that’s half the battle won
If not able to tuck it under a seat cushion I would sew a pocket on the other end and fill it with rice or lentils. Wish they would show some usage ideas at the end of these videos...
I have yet to find a tutorial which demonstrates how the caddy fits over the armchair, and in particular, how it stays put without moving. Does the excess which goes on the inside get tucked under a seat cushion or something? Because it seems like loading the pockets would become pretty heavy on one side.
tina thompson : Yes the excess goes on the inside get tucked under a seat cushion and you sit on it. Yes it's look heavy on one side but it's fine. Thank you.
I made mine a little longer then folded over the top end and put in a metal pole and tucked that into the gap down the side of the sofa. Works a treat.
I see you're using a thicker, almost canvas like fabric, would you suggest putting a stabilizer on any of the fabric if you were using a regular cotton fabric to give it some thickness?
angsmi33 : i'm not sure the type of the fabric. It's like duck cotton. For me if it's regular cotton i would use interfacing for the thickness. Thank you for watching!
I have the same problem, please post the measurements for us that have older eyes. I really want to make some for myself and family. Thank you for this video!
Is it really that common to have a serger at home? Every American sewing tutorials are more or less mentioning a serger. xD meanwhile here in Europe we just sew a zigzag stitch all around 😅 ... the serger seems to save a lot of time tho ☺️

Thank you for this tutorial. I just finished one for me ;)
laukumi : Congratulation!
I think I missed what the seam allowance was. Does anyone know? 1/4 , 1/2 or 5/8

How does it hang on the armchair? Is there something to stop it from falling down? Regards.
Tucked the other end under the seat, thanks for watching
What much is the hem on the pockets?
Thank you for this tutorial video. What kind of fabric did you use in this project?
Apolpt2000 : It's kind of study fabric, sorry i don't know the name of this fabric. Thanks for watching!
looks like drapery or upholstery weight fabric
What is the total yards of fabric please?
Like the video, but long.
Thank you.
Can you post the measurements so they are easier to see? I tried pausing and it darkens the video so I can't them 😞
I have the same problem, please post the measurements for us that have older eyes. I really want to make some for myself and family. Thank you for this video!
What holds it on the arm of the chair
It's tuck under the couch. Thank you for watching.

It is very convenient for me. It can sew a seam while finishing the raw edges of the fabric at the same time. Thank you for watching.
What's the measurement?
Measurements at the beginning of the video. Thank you for watching.
Megazine? Does she mean magazine?
I apologize for the mistake. Thank you for comment.
Went too fast. I couldn't keep up and follow it.
Sorry about that.
