@@BrendonSnyder Pretty sure they closed in 96/97. On West 8th....but from 87 to 94 they were the place to go to get everything new. All the major cd and vinyl releases. Eddie was the best!

Thank you for sharing all of these! I'm excited to check out Bookoff. I mostly collect CDs and movies! Movies moreover. I still watch a lot of blu-rays, but have my good share of CDs.
I’m glad you enjoyed it. I think all of the stores still exist but the video was made 2 years ago and I know some of the stores have changed in the meantime.
My closest favorite store is 437 mies away and second is 500 miles away in Colorado The nearest is 143 miles away. You are luckier than you might believe.
It's nice of you to check out other record stores in the area especially the ones I've never been before.I've been to the one in the village at 197 BLEECKER st.many, many times. I've yet to go check out the ACADEMY of MUSIC.I always have trouble looking for that place I know it's in either the chealsea area or the Manhattan area I'm not sure but I'm determining to find it.I also want to check out westsider records hope to find that anyway, thanks for the info of all these locations stay safe and be well.
I give the address for each of these. Just Google or use GPS and you’ll find it. Academy is on 18th street between 5th and 6th Avenues. Very easy to find IMO.
BookOff is the one that definitely sparks my attn. The others look very cool, but the massive CD section @ BookOff is really astounding. Hopefully, they open one in MN some day (though that would take a toll on my wallet). Looking forward to more glam/hair metal videos. Maybe it's time to rank the Enuff Z'Nuff catalog?
It comes in waves and cycles. As I move off of 60’s era bands I don’t know where it will head next but eventually I’ll come back around to Glam Metal. I make the videos based on what I’m currently into at the time. That way it’s interesting for us both.
My son and I are going to one of the few record stores left in my area, and it's in the mall in St. Catharines, not Niagara Falls, Sunrise Records. My son goes there quite often. He says there is a big sale this week, so I'm going to take a look. They sell CDs, vinyl, DVDs, t-shirts, and a lot of collectible type things. It's a pretty neat store.
I did visit it and recently posted an experience video, see link ua-cam.com/video/2jDCYKsXIzw/v-deo.html for vinyl it’s great but not as a CD store. I miss the old Brooklyn location that was 10 times the size with tons of CD’s.
@@BrendonSnyder Oh yes Brendon, you prefer cd's, just like me. I already have a good vinyl collection, but since the advent of cd's i prefer it, but unfortunately, people are prioritizing buying vinyl, so we don't have many options.
Thanks for the video! I'm going to the city this August for a show and want to hit up a bunch of shops. Also have Generation Records, Stranded and Limited To One on my list. Any luck in those ones?
Looks awesome! Which of the aforementioned record stores would most like have the largest Van Halen vinyl Collection..rare live and or Japanese Obi releases? Is Record Runner more likely to have them? I noticed it wasn’t listed here..Thank You! 🤟🤟
Thanks what a great video! I´ll be going to NYC soon for the first time and record stores are maybe my main interest! Can I ask wich one of this (or maybe others) do you recommend if I´m interested on 80's/90's Pop 12" singles and/or CD singles mainly? And, on the other hand, are there any record shop in NYC where to find New releases? Or all of them use to work with old and udes music stuff, and the new stuff is now only on-line shopping? Thanks in advance for your help!!

hello Brendon, do you think is it possible to find record of the bands The Tubes and Alex Harvey Band ?
Cool record stores! I know there are a few record stores where I'm from, but only the BookOff is easier to get to. The others I would have to make the trip and plan out how to get there. What are the prices for those CDs/vinyls at those stores you mentioned? I went to a record shop in town and I thought the CDs/vinyls were a bit overpriced (even the used ones).
That’s the thing it’s all getting over priced because the stores are becoming boutique shops. With not that many around and physical formate music being hard to finds everyone can raise their prices which is unfortunate. Because it wasn’t that long ago that these items didn’t cost an arm and a leg.
@@BrendonSnyder Ah ok, so because it's getting harder and harder to find CDs, vinyls, and other physical formats, stores are raising the prices because they can? That's mean!
I miss the old Generation Records when they stocked huge amounts of used CD’s and used vinyl. Now they barely sell any CD’s and most all of their vinyl is new. They do have a whole floor of used vinyl but not for classic rock and metal. They used to be one of my favorites.
We have a seventy six square ft flea market in my old hometown they had some old Beatles albums that looked like they sat in a mud puddle for awhile wanted fourteen bucks each for them I went to get some money came back someone bought them all I only wanted yesterday and today butcher sleeve hopes I mean they looked like crap and sold even had the person's first name on them
Yes, some. My fave is Sound Exchange in Wayne New Jersey. See link for similar type video but showing my fave stores in NJ ua-cam.com/video/i8U9-C1EjQ0/v-deo.html

Music libraries like this create a sense of enjoyment and are very fulfilling to a music lover like myself. Even if I’m just browsing.
These kind of places really take me back to my youth and are comforting in that manner as well.
My favorite record store in NYC is Downtown Music Gallery. It is located at 13 Monroe St, between Catherine & Market Streets. It is unparalleled.
Really miss Revolver records down in the village. Beatles bootlegs to the max! Miss you guys...
Must have been before my time as I don’t remember that store and I’ve been in NYC since 1999. When did they close?

A good record store is like stepping back in time. Such a good feeling.
If I'm ever in NYC, I'll check these out.

Yeah it’s amazing how some of these places stay in business despite being hole in the wall type places and there being next to no advertisement.

You need to check out Tunes in Hoboken, it’s a few blocks from the Path trains. They have lots of cds, used and new. You won’t be disappointed.
