This is a beatiful film about the metaphor of life: love, tragedy, despair, acceptance and moving on. You're the only one who can make the world around you meaningful and alive again. Until then, it's like walking alone in loneliness and desolation. The film portrayed it so well, especially in the opening scene, about how the rest of the world is continually moving, but as he approaches the vicinity of the world around him from his perspective, time and in essence, the meaning of living is lost. We can see the waves rolling on the seashore up until the point our protagonist approaches close to it. The camera is a perfect metaphor for someone's memories. He stopped taking them the moment he put it down (after losing someone he loved) and left to try and run away from it all. And from that point onwards he found no reason to absorb the world again. As if it became frozen on that particular time, feeling trapped in the moment of despair and loss. But over time, he started coming to terms with what really happened (cue the flashbacks). Time is the great healer here. And after the darkest episodes he finally found the strength to move forward. Ready to take on and face life again. Acknowledging and coming back to where it all started (or stopped one can argue ). Looking at his old self one last time (great scene of his old self walk past, behind him). This time he has found his long lost courage, picking up that camera where he last left it, acknowledging that he was ready to take on life again and make new memories. So many nuances in that single scene, looking out of a window, really taking time to focus, before clicking that shutter...it is weighted and at the same time enlightening. This time though, he takes the last shot on that camera roll (cue the red no. 24) and puts it down. Signifying that although it is the end of that roll, it ended with the premise of a future. The next roll of memories, the next chapter, a new life.

At first I thought this was about that feeling when you travel and realize the places you go do not need you to exist, you have no past and no future there, as if time itself yeeted you out.
But it was more about how to give your passion your own legs, instead of relying on other people to push it forward.

I was taken to quite a few different countries as a child and always felt that I didnt belong there and so felt uncomfortable and wanted to come home; unable to enjoy the experience as others seemed to. As a result I haven’t travelled abroad as an adult. You articulate why I think I would feel that way now very succinctly.

My take is that he and that girl, the one who inspired him to follow his passion in photography, had a falling out or a breakup. They grew apart, and as a result, he lost interest and wound up deciding to leave home entirely, leaving his camera behind and abandoning his talents to better avoid confronting the past. From that moment on everything felt static, almost like a photograph. After some time, he returns home, even if getting back is difficult and requires him to think about what he'd lost. He comes to terms with that loss, and picks up the camera, and the world can breathe again.

To me, this is a story about healing from the aftermath of a devastating breakup. He detached, metaphorically taking his baggage (he actually takes a luggage case he does not return with) and losing himself in a vast unknown world we never see - his exploration of his inner turmoil, his soul. When he is ready, he finally travels back and experiences a flood of memories along the way - eventually picking up where he left off, but no longer the same person though nobody else knows the figurative inner journey he has been on.

I think for me, this beautiful animation is metaphorical to losing and gaining back your passion. Like when he stop taking pictures, and left photography, for some reasons we may never know, or in our own experience something that made you stop going for your passion. The town itself stop moving, like your world slowed or even stop. Only when he take back the camera, when we get back to what we like to do or restart our passion. And him going back to photography that the town start moving again.
That moment that he clicks the camera brings shivers down my spine. I love this and it's magnificent animation style.

Incredible touching short story by colors and deep stand point. The main issue is enjoy the journey when you pay a visit to other places. Feel in depth the atmosphere, cuisine and , cultural background is an unique experience. I visited in different years, of course, London, París, Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, several Cantons in Switzerland, Italy and Portugal . I can recall the vivid memories each country left in my mind. Unforgettable

The camera (at the end when he takes the photo) symbolises his beginning to focus outward, instead of inward. As soon as he focuses on others and on external things, rather than himself - forgets himself - his life begins to take on meaning and purpose and he is free to communicate with others (stroking the cat) and live for others. Good as it is, this animation only focuses on one, small aspect of life, there is so much more to tell.

I can feel what the main character is feeling. This emptiness, a vague sadness, a depression, like you are stuck in a place, but just at the end there . . . Dans le style de BD français. Je vais le regarder encore, et encore. Merci bien pour ce cadeau.

I am STUNNED by this animation! The style, the cOLoRs, the details of the movements! From how realistically little he moves when he sighs in the beginning to the organic way he takes of his jacket at the end. And I couldn´t stop staring at the hands! It`s incredibly masterful and I am so glad to have seen this piece!

Flood of emotions. At first when I was still trying to put the story together I was in awe of the animation and execution. As the story pulled me in, I was just saying wow at every juxtaposition. Amazing concept and brilliant execution. Almost cried because it resonated with me so much. You guys said so much with so little.

sometimes you can come back to life with memories that person made for you, you shouldn't forget her or him to come back to the life you had because that person is a part of you for now and forever. you have to find that part and heal it. when you heal it that part doesn't hurt you because you want to move on, for yourself, for him or her.
